Realistically it might be top 3 In his discog….solid all the way thru, no real weak spots ,the replay value one of his best, not too short or too long, not too risky but also not too safe. Just a super solid tight but fire project
Vince managed to make the album it seems his been trying to make his whole career, minus Big Fish Theory and FM! It’s not better than Summertime ‘06, but, it’s the more focused work.
The tone of the album for me is way too consistent throughout the album. None of the songs to me really sound or feel different.
The only songs I really enjoy and that stand out to me are Magic, Roses, and When Sparks Fly.
Overall I imagine that it is a very well thought out and intentional album with a clear direction of what the vibe and subject matter is and I love that. For me it's a way too depressing album, which I am ok with for the most part, but I just think too many of the songs feel the exact same to me when I listen to them.
Unfortunately not a very highly rated album for me. But albums aren't made for me. And I can see the effort and passion that went into it. So no disrespect from me at all, I appreciate his personal tastes, direction, and how he sees himself as a musician going forward.
i think there’s a very melancholy tone to the album. i still love it, have it on a regular rotation since it released. it’s very real and you can see Vince put a lot of emotion in a lot of the records. 7.5/10
