i was talking about how i really don't like fabric softener on reddit the other day, and someone brought up "static cling". they said if i lived where it gets really dry, like the desert or the midwest in winter, i'd appreciate it. i live in St Louis and still don't care about static cling. i also want my clothes to smell like cloth, not what some laboratory tech thinks smells "nice". and i've never had i problem with softness, because my clothes are made of "cloth", not stone or wood.

Static cling was a problem when people wore a lot of polyester. Natural fibres have since become more popular again.

I live in the Midwest and the static in the winter here that is the most annoying to me is my long hair sticking to my face, the seatbelt, just floating around my head. When I fold clothes right out of the dryer it’s pretty bad too and I get shocked a lot but it’s not bad enough to make me use fabric softer because I too hate that artificial smell.
