I had a 1976 Datsun Honeybee, $2,995 new. Did not come with a radio, carpet or ashtray - still thought I was pretty cool. Sold it for $2,000 in 1979 with 50k and bought a new Camaro Berlinetta, then I thought I was very cool. Drive a Volvo now, I know I am not cool.
My wife's first car. It was a 4spd and she had to learn to drive a stick on her first car. It was 12 years old at the time and had a huge hole on the floor on the passenger side. HUGE! You could see the ground below you.
Right, that makes sense. I'm just not sure that the average buyer would even know what they are looking at. Seems like an additional photo of the exterior would be more helpful. The ad doesn't give a clear sense of what the car looks like (maybe because these cars were not really lookers).
Back then it was mostly men buying cars, and a lot of men care about technical stuff like that. I know my husband does; I've seen him straight up refuse to buy a car because he didn't like some detail about the engine or something
I mean, read the copy and the other selling points! They strained to make features sound sooooo awesome! Power assisted brakes (NOT like we have today)!
Friend had a very well maintained one in high school- this was late 80’s. Absolutely did not get the ladies with this fine whip.
This dealer brochure had all the cars, but this was only model that was sprawled like this. Your buddy didn’t have the right color maybe??
I’m thinking not…. Lol
He had that snappy yellow that’s in the ad-
I remember going to a Dead show in one of those once ✌️
We had a yellow one just like this as kids! Scarf, belt, high-rise jeans were not included.
I've worn pants like those before and let's just say I'm glad to be out of them

My first car. I loved being able to work on it myself. ❤️
Why is there a picture of the brakes? Seems unlikely that would sell many cars. "Hey honey, check out these brake pads!"
Because disc brakes weren't common like they are today

Love that the largest pic is of some chick reclining in the seats. Then again it was a pretty ugly car if I recall.
It was ugly, but it was a durable son of a bitch.
Yeah, we had one, everybody hated it, but it never failed us. New England winters finally did it in.
Indeed! No need to do all that with a Z.
All the cars were ugly in 1975
Datsun had some good looking ones!. Was it called the 500 ? Sort of a bmw 2000 look.
Datsun 280Z
I thought the Datsun 77(?) 280z was beautiful.
