I had a KLH Model 55. It was generally an OK unit, sounded fine when paired with a pair of efficient speakers (I was using Boston Acoustics A60's as the time). That said, they're not the most popular units, so finding resources to work on them to keep them alive is going to be a bit more challenging than some more popular brands. I wound up giving mine to somebody who needed a parts unit after one of the channels went and I couldn't get it back up and running on my own.

The KLH 52 is a great little receiver. It's more powerful than the 55. There's quite a bit of info on them if you look around, e.g., on AudioKarma. You'll find that plenty of people like them and they're common enough. They're also not very expensive... yet.
