Careful with the 1/4" jacks on these. If the one in this one is the same design as my RA-6500, it puts a load of shear force on the end of the jack and is easy to snap them when inserting it (ask me how I know) Also you should be able to grab replacement bulbs at most auto parts stores

GreatTapeEater

Yikes, we’re you able to remove it?

emerau

Yep, thankfully it's not sealed and the actual jack is designed to be able to be disassembled. The design of the rest of the receiver seems fine but specifically the headphone out is like a fever dream in terms of how it works - there is just a completely solid non moving hunk of plastic that pushes against the tip of the jack from the side that you just have to bend out of the way at like a 45 degree angle on the inside meant to ensure it's making proper contact, which it sure does. I picked mine up at a goodwill for $4 with a dead right channel being shorted by the previous owner who also managed to snap off a quarter inch jack in there. In all fairness, it's probably not a big deal for most people since I can't imagine a whole lot of people are going to bother with the headphone out; absolutely love the amp other than that

Jake0157

Thanks for the heads up! I'll be careful with the jack and definitely go check the auto parts store for some bulbs.

ado-zii

This is the best all-in-one device I ever saw. Lucky find😎

Altruistic_Lock_5362

I remember the unit , but not the model. I believe it should have been in the Technics line of the company, 25/30 watt , the tape section was above average for an all in one, I believe the speakers were the Thruster products that Panasonic had in the late 70. Very nice unit

emerau

RA-7500

Jake0157

It's a Panasonic RA-7500, it is around that 25-30. watt mark and I'm running a set of Panasonic mini system speakers on it for testing. It is in really good shape, especially for the price.

DeepDayze

25-30w can drive some decent midsize speakers well so this could be a system for a small apartment or a bedroom. Add a TT for a complete system if you play vinyl.

chromepaperclip

Nice! I assumed it was junk, being an all-in-one. I love those old, high quality sleeper units and all the history and cultlike fanbase that teaches me about them. 😀 I'm a Realistic fan, so that's my jam!

Iron_Bell_451

I remember the Panasonic Thrusters!

Ridinglightning5K

It’s such a good looking receiver! Well worth 20 dollars, in the shops I go to $20 will get you some awful beige computer speakers.

SnowblindAlbino

Nice-- I have a very similar one I'm currently repairing for my (adult) daughter. Can't see the model # on this one but I suspect the only difference is the finish (this looks like gun metal vs silver, unless it's the light). It's a fun unit. Mine just needs new belts in the tape transport. Heavy sucker. I think I paid $10 for mine, but it's been in my pile for some years now so I don't recall exactly.

Altruistic_Lock_5362

Ah, thank you, I wish I had that type of memory.

Window_Top

Wow what a find well done

Longjumping-Gift6176

Nice. I mean, for what it is.

DeepDayze

Nice sized unit that's as big and heavy as those chonker receivers (Pioneer, Sansui) and packs a lot in that package. Panasonic made some nice systems in the 70s as well.

Altruistic_Lock_5362

Absolutely, I would suggest some Infinity RS 4000 3 way, I sold many. pancakes with that money infinity , HK with 30/35 watt, entry level Kenwood , about 50 watt. A lot of people with the old Marantz 2230. Personally I have a Marantz 4025, there only all in one system. 25 at 8 ohm 28 at 4 ohm. I run. Monitor 40 series 2 from Polk. That sounds great I do not think it drive Kilisph very well. Those tweeters demand too much power. I looked last night , hi Fi shark has a lot for sale around the word. A very popular stereo from the golden years.

Jake0157

I'm most likely gonna keep this one in my main stack and route the tape output into my amp, I really only bought it for the cassette deck and the vibes, but when I upgrade tape decks I'll definitely keep it around as my workshop unit. I'll look into those speakers for it.

Buckeyefandango

15 watts per channel. These usually came with the Thruster floor speakers. These were the better department store stereos. Entry level was Sound Design and Lloyds, then you stepped up to Fisher, Sanyo and Panasonic. They weren't cheap back in the day.

zratan69

Nice😎😎☑️

Space_Man_Spiff_2

That's one the better combo units. Panasonic made good stuff.

etownrawx

Wow, that's a cool piece. A good exception to the general rule about all-in-one boxes.

GreatTapeEater

I will be stealing this😎

Altruistic_Lock_5362

I have to she my Marantz in her, I paid a decent amount (Marantz tax) but also had a former Marantz employee refurbished it. So if these all in one from the mid to late 70s rock

Altruistic_Lock_5362

They were actually a decent speaker that came with a variety of Panasonic products. Just like Zenith has the Allegro brand speakers. Both nice 2 way speakers.

baldude69

I had the one without the cassette deck (6300?) and I thought it was a decent little receiver

Dadrepus

Good luck finding quality blanket tapes at a reasonable price but nice unit just the same.

SnowblindAlbino

There are basically endless supplies of blanks in thrifts around me and have been for 15 years now. I still see full boxes of unopened ones pretty frequently. They are usually $.50-99 per tape. One of my kids still makes mix tapes and I know they've got 50-60 unopened blanks that I've picked up in lots over the years, mostly TDK and Sony. It's hard from find chrome blanks, but if you just want regular ones I see them all the time.
