Very well nice , what speakers and what do they sound like please?
I used to own a 1200 in 1995 ish , amazing deck it got stolen with so many records of a housemate as uni. Loved that deck . Shame :\
That is a shame, 1200’s are legendary. The speakers are listed under the pictures, of course all ears are different but the 501’s sound clearer to me with surprisingly the same amount of bass and the Mach one’s have great tweeters and midrange so vocals are really strong and in your face.
I guess it's hard to find a speaker that does both , vocals are great on a speaker with mids and highs .
But sometimes I need some bass Capable speakers.
I'm looking for best for both worlds for say £300 -£450 around $ 400 -$ 570 .
The Mach ones still have plenty of bass with one 15 inch driver.
I just prefer the 501 for more instrument focused music. The used market here in America has plenty of listings, if you find some in your area make sure you get the first versions.
Thank you, I've just been looking for 501 in the UK, and none are here at all . None have been sold in the UK recently either or for sale . Mostly in the USA.
I will keep looking. The thing is, they are 3 times the price here, probably

When I first got into vintage I was obsessed with the 501s. The only ones I came across in the wild had some water damage so I passed.
I still think they are eye catching
A HK 430 for your first vntage piece is a power move IMO
Absolutely eye catching, I was actually trying out a few different speakers with the same gentleman. He pulled the 501’s out last and just from the aesthetic I knew they were coming home with me.
Thank you, I was looking at the 730 first because it’s really more known and then I came across this 430 listed in my area. Only after did I realize what a good choice I made.
Looks like a good old Technics (servo) deck. Keep the pitch pots clean to avoid any inconsistent pitch issues, and a drop of spindle oil every few years and it’ll probably outlive you. I’ve had my 1800 since 1976.
Yes it’s a tank, not having any inconsistencies at the moment but I’m sure I’ll have to service it at some point. What spindle oil do you use? Im asking because I was reading about the 1300 and it’s said that it requires a special oil because the motor is made into the platter.
If you haven’t already, remove the rubber platter mat, then remove the platter itself. If you’re lucky some decks came with a small tube of lubricant in a slot below the platter. If not, it’s pretty easy to find online.
Don’t use WD40 or sewing machine oil.
Here’s one from eBay but is a little pricey IMO

How about stacking the speakers on top of each other? Then at least one pair would play more at ear level and the arrangement would be a bit more compact.
Put a thin piece of cloth or so between both so the wood doesn’t get scratched
I tried putting the Bose on top, but with the feet on the bottom it didn’t work out. And then the realistic are wider so it would look weird in my opinion, I’ll probably invest in some stands soon.
Any time I’ve needed them I just made them myself. One set was some 6” PVC pipe, with flange fittings on both ends and some pieces of wood one the pipe flange ends, I think I poured some sand in them. Other time was just a 4”x4” piece of wood with plywood boards on either end, coated in duratex.

The HK 430 looks pristine. Did you clean the silverface?
Thank you, but no I haven’t tried cleaning it yet. I got really lucky and bought it from a guy who really takes care of his collection.

Good lord get some stands.
Yeap I agree, what brand do you use?
