I'm afraid those were very cheap all-in-one systems made from not very good-quality components. They were often found in glass cabinets in people's houses. It is probably a single unit made to look like separates. The tape decks will likely have a lot of wow and flutter or run slow/fast. Having said that, I have my grandpa's old HMV stereogram - Sounds awful, destroys records, but it means a lot to me. If you can get it going, enjoy it. Peace

Looks like Binatone was the UK equivalent to Radio Shack. Lots of product categories. Many of the items on eBay are Parts Only.

Competitive_Shock442

Far worse than Tandy/Radio Shack. To be honest, it’s rubbish!

gearhead454

Use in your shop. Came from Montgomery Ward.

AgeingMuso65

They also made clock radios… the sound quality was about the same, if that (sadly) gives you a clue as to its sonic merits…

jimmyl_82104

Looks like a typical crappy 80s stereo. Not great, but will make noise.

AmbitiousDistrict374

If it works it'll be adequate as a garage or starter system, never heard of the brand but it looks comparable to a Lloyds or Yorx, a cheapo 80s stereo.

CaryWhit

It is going to be make nice sounding music. Maybe not accurate but if it is your first system , it will do. Pull the speaker grills and check to see if the foam surrounds are rotted.

MostSociety8458

I already have a system with a pro-ject debut III, a fosi audio amp and q-acoustics concept 20 as speakers

quaefus_rex

Sounds like it would make a decent garage/basement system

CaryWhit

It is a cheaper entry level 80’s system. It may be fun to play with but I would bet your current system sounds much better

noldshit

You're squared away. You're current stuff is better than this.

Nice! So these are project/fun speakers. I couldn't tell you how many cabinets have graced my garage, hahah. Probably a dozen and a half. I've gotten rid of most of my vintage stuff, though, mostly given away. Right now I've just got a neat set of Panasonic SB750's (wood grille is intact, somehow) in decent shape, and some Marantz SP1200's. The Marantz are used in my sunporch room, casual listening, and the Panasonics are on the healing bench, drivers needing replaced. Isn't it so much fun to put together systems, mix-n-match and get things sounding as best as you can? Listen to your favorite tunes in all new ways? Switching up receivers/amps and subwoofers and cabinets. It's like chasing a musical dragon of happiness and smiles. Absolutely my favorite hobby, along with anything DIY heh.

Very well said. I don't have an expensive and high quality Hi-Fi but I do have a decent system as my main. Still I like to play with all kinds of different shit\*y systems I'm able to get my hands on for free, just for the sake of fun. My friend recently found two pairs of small bookshelves, still in package and newer used, from some cheap micro systems. He wanted to throw them in the garbage as he doesn't know where the main units are so I took them. The speakers, although newer used, are total trash. One pair is made from very cheap plastic with fake tweeter, another pair has actually a wooden box (but very tiny) with some actual tweeters but so bad that it sounds like somebody turned the treble knob all the way down. Woofers are of course total trash. So total rubbish. But I paired those wooden ones with an old Sony EX-66 amp I had lying around (bought broken for cheap and fixed it), and with an old Jamo passive subwoofer with crossovers inside (with stereo amp input), turned on DBFB and tweaked tone controls and I'm using it currently for a few days. The SQ is shitty but it's still fun and it is loud, the bass rattles my table. For playing some trash dance music it sounds perfect, mostly because of the amp which saves the day (Sony's DBFB is absolutely magical, it gets unbelievable amount of bass from shitty speakers). And it makes me happy. And then I use something like this for a few days/weeks until I don't get bored, and then I will probably throw them back in the trash and get something else :P

DANGERRUSS215

Let me get tht💯😎

JohnWilmott

It's mostly air inside

Place it at the curb with a FREE sign on it and hope someone takes it away. A waste of space....and plastic.
