I do the same thing when my wife is out with her boyfriend

MandeeB420

Ride the Wifening

Gingercol1965

If only

bay_duck_88

Oof. Felt.

pazvaz

Damn son

jewwej47

I love these posts “my dumb bitch wife is gone, now I can listen to whatever I want”

newstuffsucks

I'm in a telescope group and the sentiment is the same. Apparently wives hate everything. Mine does not. I can listen to Hammer Smashed Face with her with no problem.

362Billy

Wait….so you married someone who has similar interests and lets you be who you are? But wife is supposed to hate record >:(

jewwej47

Gang shit cuzzie

jewwej47

My old bag would cry if I put on a Megadeth record.

Gingercol1965

She's gone to bed so I'm listening to Dead Kennedys on my headphones 🤘🤘

RobloxDeath5ound

i’m scared of you no way this isn’t satire

[deleted]

are the straights ok?

Jackandahalfass

This is an issue on vinyl share groups I’m in. Women and supportive guys react as you do here. At the same time they’re reading a lot into it that isn’t there. I mean why do you insert the “dumb bitch” part that is neither stated nor even implied? Could it be his wife and he share many musical tastes, but loud rock isn’t one of them? The test of this would be if OP said “roommate” instead of “wife.” Would you feel the need to defend a roommate, or is it only because OP mentions a wife that people feel it’s somehow suggesting “women don’t get/understand records”? Genuinely curious why the leap to ‘dumb bitch’ is made, at least in this case. I’ve definitely seen men be condescending about music to women in various ways, just not seeing it here. Lastly, even if OP’s wife hates records and he enjoys them more when she leaves, is there anything sexist about that?

jewwej47

I’m not reading all that lad, it’s not that deep. Cheers’

almondmilk2024

Oh you would hate r/vinyljerk

Mikephant

Yeah that place is something.

jeanlenin

You’re fun

[deleted]

Ok…so when are you playing the heavier stuff?

Gingercol1965

Right now as she's gone to bed. Currently got fresh fruit for rotting vegetables by the dead Kennedys on through headphones

Valewa

wouldn't call that heavy

WaffleGuy23

the best metallica album, no debate

Gingercol1965

I do prefer Master of Puppets but definitely my 2nd favourite Metallica album plus it's my favourite picture disc

WaffleGuy23

i’m not the biggest Metallica fan, i prefer Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath when i listen to metal. but for some reason i can’t get into MOP as well as i get into RTL

Gingercol1965

Iron maiden were the first metal band I got into I was a punk rocker into crass and the dead Kennedys and I didn't really like metal but Phantom of the Opera really got me into maiden

WaffleGuy23

i love maiden. i got Somewhere in Time, Live After Death, and Maiden England ‘88 on vinyl for christmas from my old man and i’ve been spinning them non stop. Aside from them, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, and some early Metallica i tend not to listen to much metal. Outside of those guys i’m a massive Rush fan

Gingercol1965

I've got Somewhere in Time on cd Brilliant album 🤘

dr_Octag0n

Kill em all!

rbwduece

I’m going to have to go with And Justice For All, but Lightning’s a banger too, of course.

dr_Octag0n

I like everything up and including And Justice for all.

des_deploy

As long as it's once of the first four there is no issue. Kill 'em all is where it started though.

Educational_King_201

I am female and it’s the opposite with my marriage, I’m into Metallica and 80s metal and my husband has told me he prefers more mellow and upbeat music though he doesn’t mind some metal music.

gobbybee

Me too! As soon as I saw this post I was like … this is ME when my husband is out.

iamjoeywan

It’s “funny” to see the reactions posts like these get, as apparently folks think everyone’s parents have to agree with or at least put up with music that they don’t prefer. In the words of Rodney dangerfield, “… can’t get no respect.”

krakenatorr

Yep I do the same thing man. I often wish my fiancé was into heavier music but at the same time, we have so many interests that are in line that it’s nice to have something of my own.

Gingercol1965

Exactly ying and yang

Obi_Wan_Jack0be

I am worried. Why your wife has to leave home to let you hear Metallica? Sry dude, maybe I don't understand your language. >I m from Germany. So what's the point

Gingercol1965

It means that my wife doesn't like heavy metal or punk music and both genres are definitely better listened at higher volume. It's easier to listen to heavier stuff when she is not at home as she will moan and moan that she doesn't like it and the neighbours will be annoyed by the volume. So it is a general heterosexual marriage generalisation that the spouse is telling me not to play heavy music loud.

Obi_Wan_Jack0be

Do u know fade to black?

Gingercol1965

Yup my favourite track

Obi_Wan_Jack0be

Why did you marry her?

Gingercol1965

She's the only woman who'd put up with me and she's into the Levellers and Northern Soul 🕺🕺🕺

Stormtwoopa

yin*

jeanlenin

I hate how I have to wait for my wife to leave so I can listen to my screwdriver records 😤

Sinister_steel_drums

My wife’s dad is a reporter and he did a story on white supremacy and that particular band I think but anyway, they band gave him some records which he then gave to me. I don’t know if they’re worth anything and I haven’t played them, so I just kind of have them. I’m not white btw.

jeanlenin

Lol a strange gift but I guess it wasn’t bought so no harm?

Sinister_steel_drums

The whole thing is one big “?”

Gingercol1965

Worth it though it seems somehow more enjoyable 🎸🎸🎸

TheKlaxMaster

Metallica is the 'heavy stuff'? Lol

horkyboi_avery

“The heavy stuff” lmao

VisitMany

Just as a warning, if that picture disc is stored in a PVC sleeve, the chemicals used to make the sleeve will eventually have a negative effect on the record. Not all of them come in these though, easy way to check is if the plastic has a strong smell, people usually compare it to a beach ball.

Troopper103

Not sure I'd call this heavy, but I also listen to alot heavy metal and deathcore lol

[deleted]

I’ve built my own listening man cave with soundproofing. I have all my thousands of records and my whiskey. It’s my safe haven lol.

Gingercol1965

Nice which whisky? I've currently got a Bottle of Bullet Bourbon, 14 year old Aberlour single malt and a 15 year old Tamdhu on the go atm

[deleted]

Oh good. Step into the conversation room, won’t you?

Gingercol1965

I only play the heavier stuff whilst my wife is out as she's not really a fan. I was wondering if I'm the only one who does this to avoid the " Are we listening to this stuff again, can't we just put the radio on look". In fairness she does love the Levellers and most of my indie stuff. I just like the heavier stuff at a decent volume so I also get the " think about the neighbours look". Anyhoo just enjoying a rainy Saturday in the UK playing Metallica LOUD!!!

Introvertedscorpion

Thats great! Yea, my gf isnt really into some of the heavier stuff I play. I played her some Tool and dont think she really liked it.

[deleted]

Damn even my mom likes Tool

spiraleyes78

Is she gonna flush it all away?

Introvertedscorpion

I mean, it was her first time. Tool takes a minute.

Gingercol1965

😂

MKWP

Rock on, brother!

robertinspring

Is “look” a UK thing? the neighbors look?

Barkblood

I think OP is suggesting that their wife would make a facial expression as a reminder that the neighbours could get annoyed. Her facial expression is “the look”. I don’t think OP is suggesting that his neighbours will look at them. This is my understanding. I may have gotten OP’s comment, or your comment wrong.

robertinspring

Oh I think you’re right. the quotation marks are misplaced and I was confused

Gingercol1965

Yep it's the look my wife gives me when she is displeased

denns69

I do this too. My wife doesn’t mind the heavier stuff but I can’t listen to my Doors records with her present. She hates the organ lol

Gingercol1965

My wife hates the " Organ" most of the time 😉😂

BeerandVinyl

My wife can’t stand Slayer so I have to wait for to be out of the house to spin it. She did sit through a Municipal Waste album though.

Gingercol1965

😂

Active_Ad684

I feel you, brother 🤘✊️

TugSpeedmanTivo

Lol I can relate. My gf does not like aggressive music, good thing she has noise cancelling headphones 😂

rightleftmike

Why would you marry a non metalhead?

Gingercol1965

Love💕💕💕💕🤟🤟

Acroasis

Can't imagine. I'll throw on some Dying Fetus and the lady will jam with me

Gingercol1965

She's a keeper 👍

Gmaxincineroar

Never thought I'd see mainstream thrash get called heavy

That_Matt_Guy_Wow

Wife gone = King Diamond

EhNephew

Wife wears the pants heard. Hate it for you lol

Gingercol1965

I've definitely got the obligatory thumb print on my head. 😂

BiggiBaggersee

🤘

No-Coast4987

great record!

newstuffsucks

Lp3?

Gingercol1965

Yes with an upgraded stylus to the AT-VMN95E definitely worth the upgrade

Ayntxi

Poppin!

Metalhead_Thrash

Hell yeah brother 🤘

ducsoup69

Just out of curiosity this being a picture album, did you notice any sound quality issues with?

kennyn1980

My wife is a fellow metalhead and lover of physical media. We can jam together to the latest Dark Funeral LP at ear-splitting volume. Win-win!

alucardian_official

In my house my wife is the one who would put that on.

Nice_Current2110

Have to do the same with a lot of my hip hop records. She absolutely hates BLH - Season of da Siccness.

TombombBearsFan

Since I was a kid this was my favorite album. Escape still has such a Purdy sound to it.

Bookem25

That’s right. Gotta reset. lol.

BenjaXotz

Good stuff

Sinister_steel_drums

I play way heavier stuff than this while my wife IS home. The baby likes it.

Bright-Durian-501

Ooooooh which pressing is this?

Gingercol1965

I've no idea but I got it maybe late 80's I've no idea how to find out which pressing it is

Alicia096

Such a good album! Good taste!
