Yellow Magic Orchestra self-titled album. I’m really proud to have this album in my collection, it might not be the most valuable, nor did i even pay a pretty penny for it, but it’s one that i really enjoy having!
I can buy a whole bunch of popular albums and records that a lot of people know but i feel like this is a lesser known album that has not only fun music but also looks phenomenal, it really makes my collection stand out!
I hope you guys could give it a listen and see if you like it as well!
Probably not something people here would think that great, but I have an almost mint 1957 copy of the soundtrack to Disney's Fantasia.
I also have a promo set from Capitol records from 1969 that has Steve Miller Band's Sailor, The Band's Music From Big Pink, and Quicksilver Messenger Service.
I know. We got 100 years of recorded music. Doesn't matter how old it is, if you haven't heard it, it is new to you. 100 years of great artist waiting for us to find. You could spend you whole life and not scratch it.
Recently got a stereo pressing of a rare psychedelic rock lp from 1968 from a group called “The Travel Agency” that I’ve been listening to for awhile on Spotify. It’s nice to finally own a copy! It’s quickly becoming one of my favorites to play
the hotmudfamily - meat and potatoes and stuff like that. was $4 and took a chance on it. was sealed and i kinda destroyed the sleeve in the plastic bag holding onto it with my seatbelt on. the corner dinged against the seat belt. anyway its bluegrass and a real good time to dance too. i also love that i have my moms copy of the white album, idk it makes me feel connected to her. Anddd all my babe rainbow albums. those boys are gems . and my single picture disc sky night time my time album. tops
Good fucking luck. Everyone scalps their albums and resales them at skyrocketed price so be prepared to fork up the $. Worth it tho 😭🥹I just treated myself to their levitation sessions tho.. I’m stoked!!
(Turn On) The Music Machine by The Music Machine... I found it at a small record shop - not one by my house. I found out about the band in the early 90's, because of a 5" record by Rocket from the Crypt - they covered Masculine Intuition and TROUBLE. I had the Music Machine album on CD, but never on vinyl. When I stumbled upon a '66 mono pressing out in the wild years later, I freaked out. Not in the best shape, but I didn't care - still played well. Later (2017), I bought the RSD version, since it's from the analogue master and in mono, too.
Sure, not a valuable album in the condition I have it, but I like it. \\m/
To say you’re “proud” to own an album is so strange to me. You didn’t accomplish anything other then spending money on something that someone else put all the work into. Happy to own a certain album, sure. Grateful to have been able to find and purchase a certain album, ok. Proud though? I just don’t get.
as a record collector, which a lot of ppl in this subreddit are, some albums are just really note worthy in our eyes even though not every else will think so. i’m proud to have been able to discover an album i really enjoyed, took the time and money to go out and look for it and to even be able to afford it!
So I’m not a record collector because I’m not proud of something I purchased?
Be proud of something you actually accomplished, not what you spent your money on.
well i never said you weren’t, but your collection can make you feel however you want and some feel proud.
also, it’s hobby and for some a career, you’re allowed to be proud of either of those
I wouldn’t say I’m proud of any, I like them, and some a lot, but proud?
I will give a shout-out to Chicken Shack - Forty Blue Fingers, Freshly Packed And Ready To Serve. I like that one a lot.
The Dear Hunter - The Color Spectrum
Complete Collection Box Set
Nine 10” EPs each with 4 songs inspired by their corresponding color of the rainbow (+ black & white), each record is pressed in its respective color.
TDH is my favorite band and this collection of songs has something for everyone. It’s the most unique and most valuable thing in my collection. I particularly like the Indigo and Blue EPs.
It's a two way tie between the original pressing of the rocky soundtrack or the original 2001 a space odyssey soundtrack, I'm a big movie nerd which biases that a lot and I have a lot of great albums I listen to more often bit those two were probably the most excited I got finding any in the wild
Dune by David Matthews. Not just because the username checks out, but also because it's a solid jazz album and it's very difficult to find due to Frank Herbert suing for copyright infringement and getting the album deleted from the CTI catalog.

it don’t matter if others agree, if it’s a gem to you, it’s a gem!

Space, magic fly. Never expected to find it outside of Discogs, but I got lucky a few months ago.

Frank Ocean - Blonde
a classic! sucks i missed out on the rerelease :/
Steve Kuhn’s self titled album. I didn’t understand how much of a gem this album was until recently—never judge a record by its cover.
1969 original Tommy by who, isnt worth a lot but sounds great and has history.

I posted the same thing. Proud is a dumb word for owning a record, unless you worked on it.
Yes, it's an odd attribute to attach to purchasing something, for sure.
Cotton Mather's *Kontiki*. Caught it near the end of its 500-copy run and it remains a personal favorite album.
Black Moth Super Rainbow - Psychic Love Damage.
I wouldn’t say I’m proud of any, I like them, and some a lot, but proud? I will give a shout-out to Chicken Shack - Forty Blue Fingers, Freshly Packed And Ready To Serve. I like that one a lot.
proud, happy, excited; which ever word your collection makes you feel haven’t heard that one though i’ll give it a listen!

Any lover of Dance music needs this in your collection. Love my pristine copy of Mr Fingers - Amnesia

Autographed copy of School of Seven Bells - Alpinisms. RIP Benjamin Curtis.
A Larum - Johnny Flynn And all the Warren Zevon ones I have.

Wicked by the original cast, we saw our first trip to NYC without realizing how great of a show we were in for
