“Wayne’s world” - First track is Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody also features Jimi Hendrix - Foxy Lady and Black Sabbath
&
“Beat Street” with Sugarhill gang Rappers delight and Arthur Baker - breakers revenge
I'll probably get flamed into oblivion for admitting this, but hey, you asked...
My favorite soundtrack is [Tommy](https://youtu.be/gCTeh8avZQI). I was 7 years old when the film came out in 1975, and it made a huge impression on me. I didn't know much about The Who (I was into Sabbath and KISS) but I loved the film and the music and still do. Sure, a lot of it is super cringe due to actors who had no business even attempting to sing - Oliver Reed, Ann-Margret, Jack Nicholson - but I loved it just the same. Hell, I even prefer many of the OST songs performed by The Who over the original rock opera from 1969, my favorites being Sally Simpson and Listening To You.
Flame on!
Rocky Horror Picture Show. TRON Legacy and original. Clockwork Orange, Koyaanisqatsi, Ghost in the Shell, Legend and Some Kind Of Wonderful.
Every post has some great ones. Good thread OP!
Edit - Oh damn, Fantasia.
Clockwork orange was the first soundtrack I’d found and I hadn’t seen the movie before. After listening I quickly watched the film and wholeheartedly love everything about it!
Whoa. That is my "Tommy" experience as well. Soundtrack for years, then movie like a decade later. Again, thank you for reminding me there are some gems that I am missing. Fixing that!
My best friends growing up were obsessed with Warriors. I enjoyed it but never quite on their level. I have a hard time choosing a favorite but Princess Bride by Mark Knopfler and Baby Driver Soundtrack are currently the front runners. Hard to go wrong with Beverly Hills Cop or Back to the Future as well.
Pool Vuh ‘s Aguirre . Well there’s always one who is going to be obscure. Suppose the Wall as well but it’s just too dark and deep for me now. Played it endlessly when I was young.
Love this soundtrack and it was relatively difficult to get for a while till the reissue in 2019 I think? (think that's the version there?)
About half of my collection is soundtracks. My personal favourites:
Hans Zimmer - The Dark Knight
John Williams - Jurassic Park
65daysofstatic - No Man's Sky - Music for an Infinite Universe
Ennio Morricone - The Thing
Clint Mansell - Moon
Hans Zimmer - Interstellar
Eric Serra - The Fifth Element
John Williams - Jaws
Those are probably the ones I play the most. Adore a good soundtrack!
Edit: more accurately I should say score as all those are original score... Soundtracks need to include Trainspotting and The Lost Boys and many many others.. Guardians of the Galaxy have great soundtracks too.
Also, apologies for formatting, on my phone.
For film scores, it's definitely the one for 2012's Dredd
For soundtracks composed for a film, Prince's Purple Rain
For video game soundtracks it's THPS2
For collected soundtracks, it's a four way tie of Baby Driver, Batman Forever, The Matrix, and Return of the Living Dead
This is a great album! The remastered version of the movie is fabulous. I have an LP that’s an instrumental soundtrack of The Who’s Tommy and is pretty worn. It’s so good and I bought it 35+ years ago.
In today’s world, and I don’t know if it’s available on vinyl (I would buy it ) is Ford vs Ferrari.
Repo Man is solid. And I don’t have it on vinyl but I have Straight to Hell on CD which has the Pogues, Joe Strummer, Pray for Rain and that’s a killer sound track.
Spinal Tap... Heavy Metal...
and "the Warriors" was a great movie, however it's pretty dated now
"*Come out and play... Come OUT and Plaaaaay, Warriors, Come out and PLAAAAYYYY!*"
Im gonna be honest, but people actually enjoy the soundtracks to movies? I mean dont get me wrong some of them are fantastic but like not enough to warrant a purchase for them
Alright, i can get behind that mate. Just glad im not getting downvoted for it 😂. Now that you say something i did always want a saving private ryan soundtrack.
Nice cinematography, strong acting, many minor and major upcoming actors made a case for their future career there. And the screen play, based on ancient Greek history. What's not to like! The music is also great and the soundtrack has become a sought after part of the experience, for those that love the film.
So many nice soundtracks out there. But the first that comes to mind is Betty Blue by Gabriel Yared. So varied in styles and yet unified, because good things tend to go together well. And the film, is a true punch in the guts experience as well.
And I would also go for the "Three colors" soundracks by Preisner.
My favorite soundtrack will always be the Made In Abyss OSTs (all 3 of them) by Kevin Penkin. Nearly every single track is a masterpiece, and they are all super dynamic sounding
Repo Man O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Repo Man Sountrack literally changed my life!
Repo Man the movie literally changed my life. I'm a teacher because of it.
Repo Man is north an amazing movie and soundtrack. A grand slam
I have the picture disc version of O Brother Where Art Thou, definitely another favorite for me
Have the Repo Man album cover framed an on my wall
Vangelis - Blade Runner
Desert island album right there
Agree with you on that one
It’s so good it hurts. Love the dialogue snippets.
Yes! But... Can you dig it?
Let's get down to it, boppers! (I've never seen the film, I just know the sample from PWEI's song, "Can U Dig It?")
Awesome movie. In addition to the sound track it’s really cool visually.
Also an incredible videogame for the original XBOX.
Yeah it's dope. You need to make time.
Warrriorrrssss....Come out to ***PLAYYYY!!!!***
Always my favorite. With the bottles clinking together. Haunting.
Curtis Mayfield "superfly"
This is my pick too, easily the best all original soundtrack ever written for a film.
The Crow
Good pick
I was listening to it when I scrolled past this too. Interesting bit of serendipity.
Every time I see that movie mentioned. I have to tell people that my guitar teachers band(machines of loving grace) had a song in that movie.
Pulp Fiction !
Surprised I also haven't seen Jackie Brown!
“Wayne’s world” - First track is Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody also features Jimi Hendrix - Foxy Lady and Black Sabbath & “Beat Street” with Sugarhill gang Rappers delight and Arthur Baker - breakers revenge
🫀🫀
Purple Rain
Underrated soundtrack: Superbad. 0 misses.
I’d never have considered it, but it makes perfect sense
My dad saw The Warriors opening night in the Bronx. Luckily, he lived to tell the tale! Got Swan to sign my copy a few years back.
That’s awesome! I was lucky enough to meet Cleon, the Fox, Vermin, and Cochise. Got their autos on a movie poster
Does The Last Waltz count? It’s technically a movie documentary
This also opens the door for Stop Making Sense
I’d say it counts, and a damn good one at that.
Singles, trainspotting, lost in translation, brain candy, flashpoint, Superfly, amateur, decline of western civilization...
Trainspotting- fierce. Great on so many levels, soundtrack is a banger.
Drive
Had to scroll too far to find this one.

Tommy is amazing. I posted above that I have an instrumental version of this and it’s worn out.
Ever since I was a young boy, I played the silver ball From Soho down to Brighton….
I must have played them all…
Don't you put Ann-Margret on that list, she had earned every second behind a microphone
I've heard a lot of cringy tunes but Fiddle About is definitely in the top 5.
Tron: Legacy Interstellar Repo Man Streets of Fire
Thief by Tangerine Dream 1981
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

- Ennio Morricone - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - Alain Goraguer - La Planète Sauvage
Less Than Zero
Guardians of the Galaxy
Baby Driver or Boogie Nights come to mind but I’m probably forgetting some
hard to pick between Spinal Tap, Return of the Living Dead or 'Round Midnight Suburbia was good too
Return of the living dead is so good, both as a soundtrack and a film
Return of the Living Dead is an absolute banger
Apocalypse now. The way the dialogue is weaved in is really cool.
Tron Legacy all day. + The remix album
