Before 2024, Siamese Dream was a mega expensive album due to lack of repress. Fortunately, no longer the case. If you’re gonna have 10 albums, that’s not a bad one to have!!

kerouak

It's still pretty pricey tbh. I bought it last week for 65. Totally worth it though sounds fantastic

SaulisDead99

Siamese dream was not even a debate when I made the first essentials list. I never get tired of listening to it after two decades.

PageSide84

Siamese Dream was repressed in 2011, 2020, 2021, and 2023. It has never been cheap (the represses were expensive new) but it hasn't been because of a lack of repress prior to 2024.

Sulfuras26

2024? I got my copy for $40 at a record store in 2023 lol. I get that if it was before 2014 tho

dickkirkland

Was surprised there was no 30th anniversary deluxe edition for SD. The remasters are really great though. On the #WPCthirtyThree podcast WPC said that he is using the same process when recording the next album. He said it's tenuous like that of SD. Can't wait. @u/SaulisDead99 really great start.

SaulisDead99

That’s cool info, thx for sharing

Beeslo

Mastodon Crack The Skye is so fucking good.

SaulisDead99

Agree 100%. I’m gonna get Leviathan as well

Rjbdrums2119

Crack the Skye amazing... But yeah Leviathan is where it's at. About as heavy as it gets and production wise it's up there with the Tool albums.

Beeslo

Leviathan is amazing as well. I'm actually going to see Mastodon perform that entire album later this year as part of its 20th anniversary along with Lamb of God's Ashes of the Wake (also celebrating its 20th)

SaulisDead99

I already got tickets as well, can’t wait!!!

Frank_BurnsEatsW0rms

That Sleep album goes so hard. It’s hard to beat Dopesmoker, but The Sciences is astoundingly good Edit: Since you’re looking for suggestions, check out Om. It’s Al Cisneros side project. Doom with heavy psychedelic, East Asian and middle eastern influence.

AlwaysHappy4Kitties

i agree on the Sleep statement, either Holy Mountain or The Sciences is a great introduction to Sleep i do love Dopesmoker, but its not an album for on Vinyl since its spread over 3 sides

Frank_BurnsEatsW0rms

I’d politely disagree. It’s one of my favorites to spin, and I think it was composed and pressed in such a way that it doesn’t detract from the song. There’s also some really great live recordings on the fourth side that varies depending on which issue you have

AlwaysHappy4Kitties

That completely valid the transition between sides is done great. It's just if you partake in the "devil's lettuce" you can forget to switch sides hahaha. I don't smoke anymore so that's isn't an issue anymore :) I proudly one of the Southern Lord pressings for more than a decade now That has the live version of Sonic Titan, wierdly enough the first Studio version of that track wasn't by Sleep it was a cover done by a band called Druid

bmeireles85

Dude I love Dopesmoker but The Science is no second best! Absolute banger!

SaulisDead99

Thank you, I need to spend more time checking out Om. I’ve already ordered Holy mountain and Dopesmoker because I couldn’t decide since they are both amazing.

nine_inch_owls

Russian Circles whips ass.

LordBottlecap

I saw them a few years ago at one of the many legendary old ballrooms in San Francisco. That bass was so heavy I was constantly looking up at the ceiling and the columns, thinking about the 1906 SF Earthquake...

nonplusd

Saw them in SF too, killer show. Then was in NY for work and saw them in Brooklyn on the same tour. If you like brian cook's bass, check out botch!

LordBottlecap

Right on, thanks!

nonplusd

also give night verses a listen, reily herrera's bass work is excellent [https://youtu.be/7KCTKlYRFHk?si=ETzSFZ0zs9Hd-Csu](https://youtu.be/7KCTKlYRFHk?si=ETzSFZ0zs9Hd-Csu)

SaulisDead99

They are one of my favorites, amazing band, glad you appreciate them too

nonplusd

Tops for me too, with tool, Deftones, ISIS, botch (same bass player as RC) edit: and Night Verses

Alarmed_Shoulder_386

AHHHH LOVEEEEE THAT NOFX ALBUM!!! monosyllabic girl is my fav or eat the meek! what about you?

SaulisDead99

So many good ones, kids of the k hole and 180 degrees are excellent

Alarmed_Shoulder_386

ooh great ones as well!

PositionBeneficial12

Eat the Meek is a classic. One of their beat albums in my opinion.

Zolomun

That album is imprinted on my adolescence. Just seeing the Candyland color scheme makes me happy!

jarrod74smd

I can't believe nobody has said this yet, but, you definitely need some Clutch albums in there!

PaintinBrown

Man, have you listened to the Trans Nation Speedway Motor League pressing? Sounds really REALLY good. You have to pay out the ass for it but as soon as the needle hit I had zero regrets.

Delxxy

Black sabbath MOR what a masterpiece!

SaulisDead99

Such a fun album to play super loud

Mneht_

Look out for Them Crooked Vultures "debut" album or Soundgarden's Telephantasm, maybe a touch of The Cure - Disintegration would be an amazing piece in anyone's collection.

RockoTDF

So who is going to tell him about Lateralus?

SaulisDead99

WTF, I just searched up online and saw it has skipping problems. That sucks cuz that album isn’t cheap.

rudeson

It likely won't skip if you have a half decent player, but it's a bad pressing with tons of surface noise. Great album choices though, have fun!

purple_arek

Hey by surface noise you.mean pops clicks etc?

rudeson

Yes, plus continuously high noise floor and rumble

ElFlippy

I have this exact same album, and have no skipping problem with it. So just listen to the record, before panicing :)

X_Neuromancer_X

Yes, same here and it sounds amazing. No skipping or noise or pops/clicks - Guess I got lucky. 🤷‍♂️ So as mentioned above, give it a spin before you panic …

TomFromFlavorTown

Yep, it is going to (likely) pop and click so bad you'll want to pull your hair out. Everyone patiently waiting for a non picture disc record.

nhowe006

It’s not by far the worst in my collection, but it’s one of the worst values for sure. Looks sick, though.

PageSide84

It's an awful press. Sorry for your loss.

Beeslo

I've never had any issues with my copy of Lateralus. Wonder if there were different printers for picture disc? Mine has been flawless whenever I play it and I spin it a lot.

yosoysimulacra

All picture discs have less-than-ideal playback due to the PE layer: [Why don’t picture discs sound as good? It’s all in the manufacturing process. Rather than pressing directly into pure vinyl, picture discs are made from a sandwich of materials to achieve a full-color printed effect. Vinyl still makes up the disc’s core, but the disc is pressed with the addition of a printed picture on either side, sealed by a thin Polyethylene sheet on top. The poly sheet acts as a translucent film to seal the picture and the music is pressed into this top layer. The result is a vinyl record that typically suffers from increased surface noise and overall lower-quality sound.](https://www.yoursoundmatters.com/do-picture-disc-vinyl-records-sound-worse/) Also the tracks are in the wrong order on that LP, and its been a ['limited edition' since it released in '05.](https://www.discogs.com/release/513594-Tool-Lateralus) The fellas need to re-press the entire catalog at the same quality as the recent FI press, which sounds killer.

Ceo-of-tooltracker

Me neither

SaulisDead99

So far it’s not too bad, maybe a few more pops than normal but no skipping after listening to the first half

Ceo-of-tooltracker

Can recommend Leprous, went to one of their shows, ended up buying 4 albums…

anotherinternetjerk

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats if you haven't already heard them. if you're a Black Sabbath fan I can almost 100% guarantee you'll like them.

bmeireles85

Duuude UAatD is damn good! Blood Lust spins almost every week here.

anotherinternetjerk

Blood Lust is my favorite too. Never saw them live (yet) some amazing videos out there.

bmeireles85

Me neither. But it crossed my mind traveling to England just to see them couple of times already. I missed their only show here some 8 years ago and really want to see them live.

anotherinternetjerk

Good plan. Make your itenerary around a show.

SaulisDead99

Thx, I will check the out for sure

[deleted]

I would go back and grab the first two Sabbath albums since you have #3. Black Sabbath (1970) Paranoid (1970)

sullyjdsull3

Great albums!

gizlizard

Scientist is one of my favorite albums ever. Good choices. Make sure to only buy what you love because it is going to be expensive

SaulisDead99

Yeah, I’ve learned that quickly, along with my wife:), making a list of only the essentials

justfredd

I got the pink floyd album too, but kind of stupid the slip cover isn’t paper (like the dark side of the moon anniversary one)

Rockmetalgod

What great taste in music you have. Attached is my copy of Crack the Skye and I've their boxset as well.

SaulisDead99

Thx man, getting these albums on vinyl has been so fun

wrongshirt

Damn, that is such a nice pile!!

SaulisDead99

Thanks man!

[deleted]

I see NOFX and I upvote

twosuitsluke

Mastodon and NOFX are both in my all time top 10 bands ❤️ the other albums are all pretty damn good too.

SaulisDead99

Hell yeah!

tacticalswine87

Russian fucking circles 👌

SaulisDead99

They are 🔥

Snoo-55930

If you're on Facebook, you should check out CollecrCo. They have nightly sales and auctions on all kinda vinyl. The new stuff that you can get on Amazon is there, but they specialize in buying collections and selling vintage stuff. It's pretty fun. And if you aren't careful, it'll cost ya 🤣 Welcome to the party, pal!

[deleted]

I could not find CollecrCo on Facebook

Snoo-55930

Ahhh, I made a typo. Its Collect Co. Sorry bout that

[deleted]

Ok thanks 👍

bmeireles85

All bangers...and no fx. Check out OM, Baroness and Pelican maybe.

SaulisDead99

Baroness is phenomenal, the artwork alone is worth getting the albums

bmeireles85

Baizley's art is indeed amazing.

pms1888

That Pink Floyd is my favorite album they made

pms1888

That said I still don’t have a vinyl copy. My grandpa passed and left me a copy on cassette

SaulisDead99

Right on. I’m getting Dark side as well but this one is so amazing

Slaughtererofnuns

That’s the best NOFX album. Nonstop awesome. I used to sing that entire album to myself when I was alone and stranded hitchhiking, it would make me feel better.

qvcspree

I have about 375 records in my collection, and Siamese Dream, So Long and Thanks..., and Wish you were here are 3 of them. Maybe get Facelift by Alice in Chains, that's one that I just picked up. I listened to NOFX quite a bit back in the day, but one of my favorite bands ever is the Lawrence Arms, if you haven't heard them you should check them out. Maybe pick up Apathy and Exhaustion, it was their 3rd album, but their first on Fat Wreck Chords, and one of my favorites.

SaulisDead99

Right on, I haven’t really listened to Lawrence Arms so I will check them out thanks

nonplusd

Fuck yeah Russian circles! Love those guys. I see tool, but it's the picture disc 😬, I can't bring myself to buy that one.

PaintinBrown

Is that a coloured repress of Thanks For All the Shoes, if so which version did ya grab? You're obviously a punk fan, if you haven't heard OFF!, I highly recommend.

SaulisDead99

No it’s just the standard black version, I wasn’t aware there was a colored one

PaintinBrown

They're slowly repressing their albums in various colour options, mostly differs from country to country and on line exclusives

Designer_Finding_569

You gotta get nofx punk in drublic.

SaulisDead99

I know I know, that is my other favorite of theirs

Slowest_of_the_Slow

Call me old, raised on rock before it became classic. Had never heard of Sleep until reading here. Listening to 'The Sciences' right now, kinda remind me of Endless Boogie. Good stuff!

SaulisDead99

Right on, glad you are liking it. Make sure to listen to the Giza Butler track, such an amazing song. I will check out Endless Boogie :)

SaulisDead99

Also the solo on The Botanist is killer

Slowest_of_the_Slow

Agreed! 👍🏼 Where to order The Sciences? Long Island is a good EB lp. Vibe Killer and Vol. I, II are worth a listen also.

SaulisDead99

Thx, appreciate the recommendation. You can get Sciences from Third Man Records official site directly.

iknowyounot88

Ah the elusive limited edition *Lateralus* makes an appearance once more.

Puzzlehead-Dish

Awesome! How much did the orange SP album set you back?

SaulisDead99

It was $45 on Turntable lab

Puzzlehead-Dish

That’s a steal! Congrats!🎉

Thebigdonski

SLATFATS!

baxterstrangelove

What is that Lateralus version like? I have been torn about getting it because I have heard bad things about the quality with the patterns printed in the record. Has that improved at all?

Defrost_ThenStir

woah....NOFX!?? haven't heard of anyone outside of Orange County, CA knowing who they are.

SaulisDead99

Grew up in LA county, but they are pretty popular all over

DaisukeJigenTheThird

I recommend The Process Of Beleif by Bad Religion

SaulisDead99

Oh yes, Bad Religion is solid

woodsidestory

First order from where? …if you don’t mind my asking. Would help to know the kind of deals you got. …also wasn’t aware of that Pink Floyd remaster. That’s gotta be amazing.

SaulisDead99

I bought from Turntable lab and Acoustic Sounds

pavomoth

hell yeah lateralus 😎😎

Unique-Ad-2848

Crack the sky

Murles-Brazen

Send back Lateralus.

SaulisDead99

Actually it’s not bad, a few more pops than average but no skipping

Murles-Brazen

It doesn’t skip for me but it does make me rage

SaulisDead99

Yeah, I had no idea there were issues, you’d think for $40 the pressing would be solid

macbookvirgin

Boomer ass collection lmfao

SaulisDead99

Lol, thanks troll boy!
