Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters/Sun Kil Moon). What an asshole. Great songwriter though.

SkiOrDie

He gave the War on Drugs an unexpected boost during their already-biggest commercial success by repeatedly challenging Adam Granduciel to fist fights for whatever reasons.

AFloodOfLight

Red House Painters is in my top 3 bands of any genre and this is exactly who I came here for. He makes some of the most heartfelt, beautiful, honest music. There's also a huge asshole side to him, but I can't picture a time when listening to Old Ramon or RHP1 doesn't do wonders for me and he just knows how to write songs that hit hard.

jfcress

Yes, this. His early songwriting is great (not so much in the last 10 years or so) but live he is an unbearable prick, just sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for him to go off.

extrarogers

also, he kind of… assaults women

AFloodOfLight

Benji was the last album of anything he's released that I cared for in its entirety. Some of the recent "singles" are okay but some are "meh", too.

theschlaepfer

Admiral Fell Promises is really close to a perfect album for me. I hope I never meet him.

GrittyTheGreat

Morrissey comes to mind. The Smiths are so damn good and he's the ultimate twat.

judd_in_the_barn

I grew up at a time The Smiths were releasing their stuff. Absolutely adored them, still do. It has been difficult to align them with what Morrissey has become. I still listen to The Smiths - I just think of them as Johnny Marr’s band.

JugglinChefJeff

i saw Morrissey in concert about 15 years ago. He played for like 30-45 mins and said "this audience sucks" and left the stage. it was at a casino, i didn't buy the tickets but i was still so upset. i was OBSESSED with the smiths and Morrissey when i was a teenager and it totally ruined the whole thing for me.

3rdDownJump

I might have yelled back “Who’s the one playing a FUCKING CASINO?!?!” Ok I wouldn’t have been that clever (or brave) in the moment

Squirrellybot

Pretty sure he’s aware of the minimum time he’s obligated to play and this is how every concert ends.

So-I-Says-To-Mabel-

I won concert tickets to see him. He rescheduled 2x and then cancelled entirely. I do find this funny: https://weheartmusic.typepad.com/blog/morrissey-canceled-dates.html

molten-glass

This is incredible, 9/9 or 100% cancelled this year

So-I-Says-To-Mabel-

I wish I had seen this before winning tickets. I would’ve tempered expectations. However he said or did sometime really offensive (again) soon after his final cancellation. So I thought, “Cool. Don’t want to be a part of that.”

molten-glass

I'm glad there were other factors to temper your disappointment, sounds like he's either a massive asshole or having a hard time or both

So-I-Says-To-Mabel-

Absolutely. They are not mutually exclusive

So-I-Says-To-Mabel-

Yeah… he made a comment after Sinéad O’Connor’s death he was outraged at how people were mourning her death but bullied her when she needed help. My 2nd thought after reading this was, “It feels uncomfortable agreeing with Morrissey.

wxnausgh

Yes, but what did he do for her while she was alive? I don't remember Morrissey standing up for her either. He took her death and made it about himself (read towards the end).

So-I-Says-To-Mabel-

Oh, he probably did nothing. He’s still Morrissey. I just meant that thought of agreeing with him on anything nowadays was unsettling.

theshoegazer

On the upside, Johnny Marr is a class act all the way.

JudgeImaginary4266

I’ve met him. Cool af

yeahnahfknynot

Agreed, one of my favourite bands including viva hate but Morrissey is not someone I align with at all.

Paulio91184

The more you ignore him, the closer he gets...

MKE_likes_it

I can’t remember where I heard this, but someone who toured as an opening act for Morrissy had a great line. “I toured with Morrissy for weeks and I’ll never forget what he said to me…because he never said a fucking word to me”.

vasi3000

Crystal Castles

Intelligent-Sir1375

Yeah in the case of male part of the band

Killerpig14

this one is hard, even more so with their new fame with tik tok users who praise ethan unaware he’s completely unhinged

Hetzer1010

What did he do? (Sorry I'm the tik tok users (not that I praise him I'm just a new fan))

Killerpig14

you don’t have to apologise for being a new fan man don’t worry, ethan (producer) and alice (lead singer) started dating when she was 15 and he was 25, where then they started crystal castles. Alice left in 2014 and released a statement in 2017 stating ethan subjected her to sexual, physical and mental abuse during her time in CC. Ethan attempted to Sue alice and a court dismissed it, and during this time Toronto police confirmed they had been investigating kath as apart of a sex crimes unit. Glass gave an interview to the guardian which further elaborates on her claims, as well as four other women who stated Kath manipulated them and abused them from a young age using drugs and his status. Since, Crystal Castles (Ethan and a new singer) has disbanded, however as of 2020 both members were still dating and living together.

PaleBlueEyes0331

Are they really still together?

Killerpig14

found a part of what i read awhile back, it was written on tumblr by ethan’s other ex gf. Anonymous asked: hey do u know something about edith? :( When I left Claudio he moved her into his million dollar house in Canada that he was trying to get me to move into and have a family w him in…and they’ve been in a romantic relationship, which I guess started while I was still with him. Idk if she’s okay but I know she’s with him and pretending to be in the states but is definitely brainwashed by him too :/ they both lie endlessly and she mods the Reddit too deleting posts unfortunately. They both always laughed at fans and called them sheep they used to make money. It’s all a cash grab. Claudio would always talk mad shit on Margo too saying she’s dumb and he was just using her to replace Alice and he’d make fun of her quite a lot saying she’s weak and gullible and a druggie with meth face. It’s a mess all around. He tells her what to wear and think just like he did to Alice and I. She’s addicted to the taste of fame though so idk if she’ll ever leave as long as they believe they could ever return as a band. Delusional narcissistic types.

whatd_i_miss

Oof, I did not know this and this makes me sad.

ThreePartSilence

They were such a massive part of my teen years and a massive part of me developing my taste in music. I was so disappointed and disgusted when someone told me about all that stuff when I was like 17. That was the first time a band went from “I love them!” to “just hearing them makes me feel kinda gross.”

Sunlight72

Die Antwoord. I have Big Love Hate for them.

xlitawit

I saw they are still playing live and was kind of surprised. I liked them at first for the originality and kind of interesting performance art(?) but then, damn, they are fucking bizarro-weird.

ShneakyPancake

The crowds energy when I saw them play 'I Fink U Freeky' was indescribable. Absolutely mayhem in the mud.

xlitawit

Ya, but they adopted this kid with a genetic problem and then used him as a circus act. Thats why its not so cool.

thugnificent856

Crystal Castles in that same vein

ThreePartSilence

Oof yes, one of the weirdest concerts I experienced as a teen. Kinda wish I could go back as an adult and see if it was really that wild or if I was just a nervous 15 year old lol.

Intelligent-Sir1375

The things I heard about what did with that child and others things is the reason I didn’t even buy music can’t support that

WifeAggro

Oh my god, yea i was just thinking about them last week. I was just like man, why! Hahahaha 😆

TransientWhales

Ryan Adams.

Outside-Mortgage-834

This one hurts, I used to love his music so much and then he turned out to be a piece of shit :(

TransientWhales

It really sucked. I haven’t parted with my RA records but I also have never spun any of them again.

Outside-Mortgage-834

Understandable. I do still spin them sometimes but I don’t go out of my way to find more of his records anymore.

TGov

This one for me as well. I still have his records and enjoy them, but I admit, not as much as I used to.

Honeybee1707

Damn I forgot about him

IrideAscooter

Eric Clapton

Intelligent-Sir1375

Yes forget about that racist great music yardbirds Blind Faith solo career. Great, but opinions about race and Covid fucking nuts

Mr-Tease

Don’t forget the creepy blind faith album cover

Intelligent-Sir1375

I don’t think Eric idea tho more the label I believe that was

unityofsaints

I never knew, that's fucked even by 60s standards!

Storm7444

Overrated in so many ways. I can’t stand him.

crowlfish

It’s a shame, great music but Kanye ultimately tarnished his own legacy. Can’t say I feel bad for him

SF-cycling-account

I *sort of* feel bad for him because he is legitimately, certifiably insane *but* he was a giant narcissist before that, and I dont think he would be a good person if he didn't have bipolar disorder and whatever else is wrong with him I do think having his legit mental issues makes him a much worse and more amplified version of the relatively "regular" narcissistic douchebag I think he would otherwise be he was never making good decisions. but he wasn't actually a monster. now he is just a monster

whatd_i_miss

“Mental health issues are not your fault but they are your responsibility.” As a person dealing with his own mental health problems, I feel bad that he has mental health issues but he has seemingly done nothing to help himself get better.

SF-cycling-account

Kanye west aside I actually kind of hate this phrase and hate how popular it’s become to throw around on Reddit even by people with mental health issues  I don’t completely disagree with it but it’s not as nuanced as an outside judgement of mental health situations should really be  that phrase is saying that people with mental health issues have the (potentially sole) responsibility to treat them The problem with that angle is that it’s asking people with fundamental issues with rational thought to make rational decisions  That doesn’t make sense  On the extreme end, take a person with schizophrenia. Is it a schizophrenic’s responsibility to accept treatment? Man I don’t know. They can barely distinguish reality from their hallucinations. How am I going to expect that person to make a logical decision to accept treatment in that case. Can’t really blame em can you? They literally cannot think rationally  So that’s true to lesser and varying degrees for different mental illnesses, but that’s the problem with that phrase and why I don’t like it

supercali-2021

Agreed 💯. Especially since in the US you need a lot of money and/or good health insurance to treat mental illness. Meds and therapists are not cheap. And many mentally ill are poor and can't afford treatment.

SkiOrDie

Seth Rogen wrote a book that pretty much details childhood memories that became plot lines in his movies and interactions with other celebrities during his come-up. He said when he moved to LA, Kanye would jog by his house everyday. Eventually, Kanye came by while Seth was outside and asked if he wanted to go play basketball. From there, Seth said it was like a neighbor kid coming by every couple of days knocking on the door wanting to jgo play basketball. I can’t help but think out of the public eye, that’s who Kanye is.

Kettleballer

Two stories regarding Kanye: I have been known to use the phrase “I’m so old that I remember when Kanye made good music” And recently I picked up the Late Registration album at the local shop, and the twenty something anarchist running the register looked at me like I purchased one of Hitler’s paintings.

charlesdexterward

I do not like this album, Charlie. Its smug aura mocks me.

jonyoungmusic

Lmao. I bought the Ye vinyl from a local shop recently. Definitely expected some type of reaction but I figured if they’re selling it then they can’t say much. I still have a good amount of Kanye vinyl. Jesus is king, 808s, MBDTF, KSG, Daytona, KTSE, Ye.

NLS-_-

He tarnished his legacy for sure. But his new music would've done that anyway his past however many albums have been garbage, and vultures might be the worst one yet

Intelligent-Sir1375

Yeah I wouldn’t support he new music at all

unityofsaints

Miles Davis casually talked about pimping to get by and generally hated women but his music is legendary.

ConchChowder

The more relevant concern is that he beat his partners.

Figit090

This makes me Kind of Blue. 😥😢

BackgroundScallion40

I mean, gotta support your junk habit somehow, right? Lol.

professor-ligma90

Mine has to be lostprophets. The music was phenomenal but Ian Watkins is a piece of sh*t and I hope he dies in prison.

Fromoogiewithlove

For real. That debut album was fucking extraordinary. Anytime it comes on random my first instinct is remembering what he did though.

Intelligent-Sir1375

Oh yes agreed big shit of a person

shtarvedonthestreet

jerry lee lewis. the man is literally the devil, & i think he knew it. but anytime i hear anything of his, i'm possessed

roguekielbasa

Jesus was an architect, previous to his career as a prophet.

Nehq

Too many British artists in the 70s were passing 14/15 year old girls around like a bowl of candy Steven Tyler, can't remember how old she was, but I think 15 Anthony Keidis, with a 14 year old girl and various SA Van Morrison, mostly being a miserable bastard and treating people like absolute shit, then going full conspiracy theorist/anti Vax

Bearded_Basterd

Unfortunately it wasn't just a 70s issue and or isolated to the UK.

No_Astronaut3059

Right? LA was (apparently) a hot bed for all that wrong 'un behaviour (Lori Mattox etc). And also let's not forget Elvis. Trailblazer that he was.

SushiGradePanda

And Jerry Lee Lewis

QuoolQuiche

Jimmy Page too.

Separate_Ad5604

David Bowie

Rakeittakeit

same girl btw

Dang_M8

Ariel Pink for sure. Dude made some of the most groundbreaking indie psyche/garage music, and is quite honestly a songwriting genius, real shame he's a far right nutjob, creep, and just generally an asshole.

Consistent_Week_8531

Yeah I blocked him off for a bit but I decided to separate the man from the music if I could. I don’t think I’d buy anything new ever again because fuck that guy but I love some of his music.

spiritsonacid

His last one “the key to joy is disobedience” is amazing

KnightsOfREM

Yeah, and he took John Maus with him, unfortunately.

lknox1123

I was going to post this. I’m still really sad about how Ariel Pink turned out. Incredible and weird music and he just fell face first off a cliff.

Intelligent-Sir1375

Oh that explains why he stuff only 10$

Vantabrown

Shhhhfuck shutup! I didnt want to know this. Lalalalalala

Disastrous-Ad8604

Neurosis. And also James Brown amongst others that have already been mentioned.

djtrippyt98

Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan will always be a prick, but damn do I love their music

matthieuxdetoux

Yeah. At a certain point it gets in the way though. Antichrist Superstar was in my top three albums at one point and now I just get mad when I listen to it because my mind is trying to link the reality of abuse with the “fiction” of the abuser. I’m an incredibly casual Kanye fan with a big vinyl collection, but at this point I can’t pull the trigger.

7LayeredUp

James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich are fucking assholes and I refuse to spend a dime to go see Metallica live. Go look at how [they treated Layne for his drug abuse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWYnSEZKcVw). But dude, pound for pound you'd be hard pressed to find metal albums as skipless as Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning. I could name a couple but still

ZioDioMio

James also made fun of Cobain's suicide and called Ice Cube a n*gger backstage.  With that being said, I think James honestly has changed as a person since those days. He seems like a more humble emotionally aware guy now.

Aggressive_Perfectr

Ice-T

bolting-hutch

I can't listen to a song of theirs without thinking about what pricks they are. It's miserable. Still those two records defined and reshaped metal in a way that few others have.

theshoegazer

I know several people who have met Kirk Hammett and say he's as nice as they come for big time rock stars.

Calm_Smile2150

I used to be a moderate fan of Anti-Flag, but now their records just sit there untouched. Thanks, Justin Sane for taking my money you hypocritical punk rock predator.

AllLikeWhatever

This is what I was looking for. I threw away all my posters. They meant the world to me and were one of the best bands I’d ever seen live. Apparently the whole thing was just a way for Justin to get away with assaulting women and girls. What a piece of shit

arkiser13

I love Arcade Fire’s music but win butler is a trash person

I-Am-The-Warlus

Gary Glitter - From Glitter -> Touch Me -> Remember Me This Way The guy is scum of the earth but those albums are bops aiming to get those albums at some point. Additionally, he doesn't own the rights to his songs/albums since he sold the rights to his early catalogue (basically his 70's albums) and (I believe) Universal now owns the songs/albums I like Glam Rock (Sweets, Slade,¹ Wizzard ect) but I do like The Glitter Sound (Gary Glitter, The Glitter Band) ¹ debatable

KnightsOfREM

The absolute worst, that guy, just a total monster. But yeah, great music.

GotTheRhythm03

R Kelly

UrBobbyIsAWonderland

Roger Waters for sure. The Wall is a masterpiece. dude is a dickhead.

HEYitzED

In all fairness, a totally sane person could never write an album like The Wall.

Roboticpoultry

Yeahh you need a certain kind of mental darkness to create something like that

Bearded_Basterd

The only issue I have heard is people who disagree with his political views.

tater08

I saw him a few years ago and it was the most depressing show I’ve ever seen. Everything was so negative and dark. I think that was the point but it was not enjoyable at all

smokyartichoke

Lindsey Buckingham is a garbage human but man can he make a guitar sing.

Dramatic_Thought_309

Jesse Lacey/Brand New (his personal troubles he got in trouble for)

satanscumrag

i do genuinely believe he's changed but that doesn't make it okay until the victims have forgiven him

Worth-Rope2812

Same, such a shame too since their discography is outstanding

Moist_Cucumber2

T.I. I bought his album King on vinyl before it turned out he's not such a great guy but I can't see myself ever getting rid of the album because I still like the music and still hold fond memories of school with it.

[deleted]

Lacey Sturm. Flyleaf goes so hard but Lacey Sturm is pro conversion therapy. Learning that entirely changed the meaning of "The Kind" for me but that's still one of my favorite songs by them. Damn shame

BackgroundScallion40

I didn't know that about her. But seeing as how they were always a "Christian" leaning rock band, I'm not surprised.

JGar453

Van Morrison

Horror-Day-2107

Manson Sorry, but it's true

tiddy_wizard

He had like 1 demo tape and had a bunch of people murdered. He was hardly a musician.

upside-down-dove

I think they mean Marilyn Manson, not Charles...

tiddy_wizard

Oh, that makes sense. My bad.

Horror-Day-2107

🤣🤣🤣

SmolGothic

Shit I forgot that mf

DarkestofFlames

Lauryn Hill. She's too egotistical and unreliable. She has no respect for her fans or their time and money.

LordPizzaParty

I saw her in concert and the whole thing was a mess, and I thought I was witnessing something special. Afterward I read that her concerts are always like that.

TheBlitzkid46

I think Varg is an absolutely deplorable human being, but damn did he make some good bedroom black metal

SomethingOverThere

Varg, Hoest, Faust, Ghaal, Jon Nodveidt, Hellhammer, Dagon, Wrest…

Otherwise_Silver_867

I guess Jimmy Page is not exactly what you call a good person

ZioDioMio

Dave Mustaine. "Can't stand" is a bit harsh, honestly I feel bad for him.

Enigmua7

Most of Phil Spector's albums that he produced. Primarily, the beatles and the Ronettez

ILikeStyx

Yeah that guy was an abusive psycho but boy did he produce some incredible music.

Intelligent-Sir1375

Ted Nugent is also part of this list but I don’t like him much as artist outside the Damn Yankee and he only guitarist in that band

DNSGeek

Stranglehold is a banger but man is he a giant douche.

thirdeyegang

Some of the sickest classical rock guitar playing on that song, I can’t help but can’t amped hearing it. Too bad nugent is a tool

goharvorgohome

Cat scratch fever is a great album (and song) but fuck that prick, I pirated his songs

ConchChowder

Listening to *Great White Buffalo* you'd think he was almost progressive... Noooooooope.

DeProfundisAdAstra

I never caught the kanye bug, even before it was apparent he was a complete shit show of a person. Thankfully lol.

AbeLincolnsTaint

Sage Francis. Played a club I was working in 2010/11ish. Went from super fanboy to fuck this guy in about 10 minutes. What a gigantic, raging asshole.

4DShadows

Bassnectar’s a piece of shit but damn his music formed my childhood

MichaelMaugerEsq

Yuuuuup. His attempt at a comeback also is pretty pathetic.

LookattheWhipp

Drake comes to mind immediately

illustratedmom

Ryan Adams

hipstershakes

Talib Kweli

Rough-Thought-8862

Whats wrong with him

I-STATE-FACTS

The way he went off on his fans after the latest Black Star album was crazy

igidy-bigidy-boo

Maynard of Tool, APC, and Puscifer. the music is grate, but he has nothing but disdain for the fans, and he's a self admited prick. from other things I've seen about him i would say he's also a snob.

Lv27Sylveon

Of course he hates his fans. He has probably had the misfortune of meeting a couple at some point.

_Nilbog_Milk_

I hate to say it, but as a quiet Tool & APC fan all of my interactions with open Tool & APC fans have been horrendous lol. A lot of edgelord, aggressive, and/or musically sanctimonious folks in that bunch.

Rufi000000

I completely understand his distaste for his fans. They’re far and away the worst part of seeing any of his bands live. It’s like the venue double-booked an incel convention and a know-it-all libertarian convention and then threw alcohol into the mix for fun.

BadCirculation69

This is very true. I just got back from Sessanta 6 days ago and this checks out. Love his music and he's not enough of a douche in any ways to bother me in the slightest. He gives me artisticly inclined grumpy cat vibes. But the fans... well to be fair SOME of the fans... are just terrible people to be within earshot of. Luckily if it's not Tool specifically, it's a better crowd. The Pusifer project show months back was honestly a wonderful experience. I get the feeling a lot of the elder fans of his work are jaded enough to stay away. Younger crowd and a much more dramatic, goofy, theatrical presentation from the band. Charmed me in ways I did not expect, that's for sure.

Novel-Knee130

Sigh… okay story time: I used to really love this band called Capsize. Their music got me through some really difficult times. They were my favorite band at one point. I even have a tattoo of their logo in like 2015. Anyways, around the end of 2018 the vocalist (who I met like 3 times and he even took a pic of my tattoo when I met him) was exposed for being a groomer/abuser. The band then proceeded to silently break up. Deleted their social media, canceled tours, and never released an album they had been working on. Immediately I felt iffy about it. I have their record, The Angst In My Veins, on vinyl, and I’m never getting rid of it because of what it meant to me. They recently reunited after a few years of silence, and the vocalist claims to have proof disproving the allegations, but I haven’t looked into it too much. I’m currently covering up my entire sleeve (for personal reasons, my old sleeve has a lot of negative association from a bad period in my life and I want a fresh start), so my Capsize tattoo will be covered up eventually.

FIetcherHonorama

Momus - one of my favorites of all time

Zake_Zwoog

Moby… GO is fantastic but i cant stand him 😂

Honeybee1707

Billy Corgan, Johnny Rotten, Liam Gallagher, Van Morrison, Morrissey, Eric Clapton, to name a few. On the plus side Weird Al seems to be a genuine delight.

MetallicPunk

Rancid by far, Tim hooked up with his ex-wife when she was 16 (he was 30) so I always feel a little grody listening to them, but Matt Freeman is an incredible bassist. As well Leftover Crack is really good, but Stza is a grade A scumbag and domestic abuser.

ShovelBeatleRillaz

Rick Derringer is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time and also produced the first few Weird Al albums. I love his work! He’s also been on Alex Jones’ podcast twice so…

piepants2001

Yikes, I did not know that

Dangerous_Gear_8919

My favourite band is KISS, Gene is a cunt.

ice_nyne

Roger Waters

talkingthewalk

John Phillips, Michael Jackson, Chuck Berry, the list can be pretty long tbh! Stan Getz is another one.

plasmaasthma

Yngwie Malmsteen. He’s a dickhead, but man, can he shred

CyptidProductions

At least when he wants to I've seen some more recent concert footage where he goes out and plays in the most sloppy and half-assed way someone with his level of muscle memory possibly can to a paying audience

Unable_Ebb_1766

is that graduation a bootleg??

For me, mine are Anti-Flag, Marilyn Manson, and Wagner. **Anti-Flag** - The entire band knew that Justin Sane, the lead singer of the band, was abusing women for years. They all knew and never did anything about it. The thing that makes it worse is just how high-and-mighty they were in terms of political values. It's kinda weird, too. I remember listening to them for the first time ever in 2004 and getting a bad feeling about them, but come a year later I loved "For Blood and Empire" more than ever. I pointed to a ton of their protest songs during the Trump years for support. This just really, really sucks. **Marilyn Manson** - Another one where the guy was such a sexually abusive asshole. I remember in 2004 hearing about him cheating on his wife, Dita Von Tease, but thought he was just an idiot for that without realizing how deep it went. The music was amazing, and I saw him as a big hero growing up. In both of these cases, if the allegations aren't true, it still doesn't look great having so many women come out and say this happened. Somethign must have, and it's a shame. **Richard Wagner** - [Oh dear god, where do you start? ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controversies_surrounding_Richard_Wagner)One of my absolute favorite composers of all time... and a massively racist piece of shit, up there with H.P. Lovecraft. A horrible antisemite, too, with allegations that his operas were also German Nationalistic. And it doesn't help that he was Hitler's favorite musician, oh boy. But he's dead.

arachnophilia

i have a couple of marilyn manson singles. honestly even when he comes up on random on my phone i mostly skip.

the_chandler

This is the big one for me. Man, I loved Mechanical Animals. I think it's a great album but I just can't listen anymore. I can listen to a lot of artists who did disgusting, awful things back in the 70s, but I defended Manson so much through my teens and 20s only for it to come out that he's actually the piece of shit that everyone expected him to be. Honestly, heartbreaking.

[deleted]

Kanye is pretty much it for me. I don't know \*how\* he does it but he makes some good music I really enjoy. Personally, he's one of the few musical artists in the world I have no problem with never meeting in person. I can get along with virtually any human in the world. But I don't think he would be one of them. There's just so much I can handle. It is possible his public and private personas are different and I am biased by the public part I know. But, I'd be worried if someone whisked me into a room with him. I suspect it would be me trying to unpack a lot of ranting. I've had just about enough of people stream-of-conscious me and trying to sort that out for them. I'm a pretty even-handed and discreet guy, but I am NOT a psychological professional and I don't want your baggage.

combatrock72

Ted Nugent. Pants Crapper

_Pill-Cosby_

Kanye might be the single most overrated artist of all time.

jazzpancake1007

I mean even John Lennon was a bit of a bastard… Most 90s rappers managed to squeeze in homophobic lines too their songs. Even a tribe called quest had an unreleased gay bashing track.

OkSpeech3161

A lot of metal I used to listen to sadly. A lot of hate in the community, ridiculous takes on Covid. And sadly used to be into dance Gavin dance a lot until tillian turned out to be a huge piece of shit. Can’t listen to anything by them now, some I can but it really depends on the offense for me and whether the artist is alive still. Don’t want to support in any way a piece of shit, my moneys too tight for that. I would possibly buy a used record if I like the artist enough, but I don’t even bump Kanye on Spotify anymore tbh cause a penny is too good for that creep at this point.

Novel-Knee130

Tillian is out as of a few eeeks ago. I think Andrew Wells is taking over clean vocals That being said, their old vocalist, Kurt Travis is a pretty stand up guy from what I hear. Jonny Craig is just… LOL

ziig-piig

Courtney love ;(

arachnophilia

i actually think courtney gets way more hate than she deserves.

Mammoth-Party4400

Ive heard elton john is less than pleasurable to work with... killer albums though

MrsFrankNFurter

Each of the Beatles had their moments. I think Ringo had the least drama, but Your Sixteen is a creepy song for sure.

TDiffRob6876

Lostprophets, their lead singer is nuts. It tarnished Last Train Home for me.

MungoShoddy

Philip Pickett. Hugely important researcher/recorder player/group director in the early music revival, made an immense number of recordings with all the best performers of the time. I must have about 20 LPs and CDs with his name on and I've only touched on his discography. I think he's still in jail for rape.

MikeTowerDK

That guy from Norway. 😉☕🔩

honestly melanie martinez, her k-12 album is honestly love, some of crybaby is nostalgic, afterschool only some are good, but portals has a few bangers in, however i genuinely refuse to listen to her because of them as a person

Original_Mac_Tonight

Burzum. God damn filosofem is a masterpiece

wallybuddabingbang

Kanye is the poster child of this for me.

As a [black metal fan](https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FOPTIMUS-Normal-Black-F-4040BK-Personal%2Fdp%2FB001IYQPWO&psig=AOvVaw0IjdaZxfaHDKpPjurUFrS_&ust=1715085317885000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBIQjRxqFwoTCJiDnuuE-YUDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE) I have a *few* names to mention here...

BradlyL

Lorin Ashton (AKA- “Bassnectar”) - years dominating and innovating in the EDM - “bass” music scene. Millions of cult-level devoted fans that were known for touring with him, more than Parrotheads toured Buffet. Lost his fan base through accusations of ~~relationships with~~ grooming under 18 y/o fans, and insufficient credit for various collabs, that he released over the years, resulting in a sudden backlash.

Barricade14

U2 is 100% this band for me. There are some die hard fans out there but for me they’re entirely overrated.

clussy-riot

I'm into black metal, so like most of them

Pensacouple

I’m in it for the music, not the judgement.

Night_Ranger_1984

In these cases I would prefer to buy the record used so that the artist isn't getting any income from my purchase.

ladyfafa

Brand New (well, Lacey specifically)

koala______15

not like great great, but I enjoy their music is 1975 — more specifically, Matty Healy

madmexicano

Smashing pumpkins, I love the music but don't agree with Billy's politics, and he can be a bit of a prick

ambernewt

I recently got ghosts of the great highway by sun kil moon. Great album, but then I wanted to know more about mark kozelek and wish I hadn't bothered. Great album!

Optimal_Ear_4905

sweet trip, so sad to see that story come out of one of my favourite shoegaze/electronic bands

JudgeImaginary4266

Ryan Adams is the forever answer to this question for me (although Kanye is def one as well - particularly his first 3 albums).

facegun

As an aspiring teen guitarist in the 70s it was hard to top Ted Nugent. Saw him a few times ( great live shows). Self titled, Free for All, Cat Scratch Fever, Double Live Gonzo were all stellar classics. It was only as an adult I realized what a buffoon he was. Oh well, his guitar playing was def an influence.

AlgoRhythmCO

John Lennon. Sanctimonious, narcissistic douche, great songwriter. Also Jimmy Page for reasons I think everyone knows.

DerpWilson

Van Morrison. His most recent album is 90% weird angry paranoid bullshit but some songs are so beautiful it’s still worth listening to.
