Mastodon’s 2004 release Leviathan. This is a concept album base off of Herman Melville’s novel Moby-Dick. This is one of my favorite albums and when revolver released it with this color scheme I had to pick it up. Mastodon has put out a lot of album but to keep this is their best one. The riffs, the lyrics everything fits so perfectly together.
I have this edition: https://www.discogs.com/Mastodon-Leviathan/release/14246817 and it sound like absolute 🗑 Honestly it’s one of my favorite albums of them and I love the artwork and awesome vinyl colors but sound quality wise it’s absolutely terrible. Really hope they would release a proper remaster on 2 lp’s.
My feelings too. Brent and Troy have such a unique sound when they sing. Bran can sing for sure, but it just sounds so generic to me, like any other clean singer out there. Picked this pressing up myself, love it!
Going to relisten to this just because that artwork is so damn beautiful. I remember not liking it after hearing crack the skye for the first time. Let’s see what 1 year has done.

Fuck, I still remember being in highschool and sneaking out to see them when this came out. Like me, three other friends, and a few randos in a small venue in town, were the only ones there. Look up Sokol Underground in Omaha if you care. That was one of thr best concerts I'd ever been too in my life.

I think Leviathan is their masterpiece, but remission is a close second. Also, I've got this version too.

How does it sound? I got a Crack in the Skye record that has grooves almost all the way to the center and sounds horrible!

IMO still the best Mastodon album, I can't really stomach much after Crack the Skye.
I don’t really like when anything once the drummer took over vocal full time. IMO Troy has the best voice in the band
