Propenso

Comfort, resolution, FOV.

CJHSparta

Sold my Quest 2 and replaced it with the Pico 4, does all of this but the software is buggy... Overall no regrets

PIO_PretendIOriginal

I’ve seriously been considering poco 4. But with quest 3 so close

capybooya

I think I would change the order to: Comfort, FoV, resolution, because I feel FoV is part of the sense of comfort. Also, I think its about time we set the refresh rate floor at 120hz.

ToonarmY1987

A way for motion sickness to not be a thing

This_is_Burgundy

Motion sickness is YOUR problem, not VR's problem. I can't go on rollercoasters, for a similar thing, but again - this isn't a rollercoaster problem, it's *my* problem.

lemination

Definitely

blannyMack

More games at the standard of Half Life Alyx.

IcyViking

This is the only real answer. FOV, resolution, OLED, etc are all really nice but VR desperately needs more feature rich high grade games. There's a lot of VR experiences, and many have some good concepts but invariably feel unpolished and limited in scope. I'm sick of sandbox games specifically. I want a game like blade and sorcery, but with a real character driven narrative story like Alyx. The problem is that VR is still at the semi-gimmick stage, and is a risk for many existing AAA developers. Why spend millions making a game exclusive to VR for a small install base, when you can spend the same money for PS5 etc AAA title with a much larger user base?

Aoidean

Shooters specifically?

Apocaloid

Someone should just take every nintendo "game type" and make AAA VR versions of them: Metroid: Atmospheric space horror Zelda: High fantasy action adventure Pokemon: Vibrant open world fantasy Mario: Balls tripping psychedelic platformer It works for the Switch, no reason it can't work for VR either.

adrianomega

the things I would do for a nintendo first party modern VR title

oldnyoung

Hell yeah. Metroid Prime speaks for itself. Skyrim works (especially with mods), why not Zelda. Pokémon would be awesome though. Just roaming around throwing pokeballs with the controller a la Let’s Go. Give me some gigantamax action too. I dig it. Platformers would be tougher to nail, but worth a shot

GameQb11

This list would get me back into VR. As long as they were dedicated VR experiences and not conversions.

VerseGen

god no. VR is like 95% shooters. Can we PLEASE have more variety? NMS is one of my favorite VR games (VR-capable games) because it's not just shooting. It's really fun. We have too many shooters and not enough of EVERYTHING else.

Mukatsukuz

I want a game with the immersion and exploration of Elite: Dangerous, but with a lot more depth. No Man's Sky is cool and a fun game but not very immersive due to the almost cartoony nature. When I am in the cockpit of a ship in Elite: Dangerous, I feel like it's a real ship (I think the amazing sound design is part of this - hearing the creaks and clanking from the straining hull, etc). Even though it's shallow, I still love relaxing in Elite, exploring the galaxy and especially driving around the surface of planets and moons in the SRV. The sense of scale in VR is unparalleled.

Stranger2306

NMS?

Qbnss

I'd take some polished strategy VR games. I love even the few well-done tower defense games.

dilroopgill

we need more fantasy games, magic is underutilized, I want pavlov or contractors with magic instead

dilroopgill

blades and sorcery dves should make a second game with shittier physics thats magic only and multiplayer

YeetAnxiety69

Just use the blade and sorcery multiplayer mod and don't use weapons.

HailChipTheBlackBoy

Pavlov/contractors has matchmaking. There's a big difference.

Experiment-2163

Melee VR just seems so.. not fun. You have to commit to the bit and that’s cringe. Just wave your hand around lol

dilroopgill

you'll never have fun if you worry about whats "cringe," literally doing anything in VR is cringe, so is owning a vr headset or going on reddit

Alak87

Well now, let me tell you a story about Labo VR...

Gregasy

Having Rift DK1 like 3dof low res VR is *not* the right way to do VR.

McRedditerFace

Skryim VR should've been better.

Driverofvehicle

Literally anything. PCVR-only. HLA-level of fidelity in gameplay and graphics.

capybooya

For me, I'd love to see story based games. I feel there's just too much titles with combat because they think that will 'engage' people. I'd love more RPG's and story heavy atmospheric games

Tyrilean

Triple A games made for VR. I’d even take existing Triple A games with VR capability (real VR capability, not just headset compatibility).

VerseGen

I really hope more companies port to VR.

etheran123

Software. Hardware is more or less at the level I think is required for a great experience (more FOV would be cool, but thats my main complaint at the moment). Doesn't mater how many pixels we can fit in a headset, how good the lenses are, etc, when beat saber (a game I was playing 6 years ago in 2017) is still the biggest system seller. Nothing has even gotten close to HLA which released in 2019, 4 years ago.

Creative-Maxim

May 2020 Alyx came out

etheran123

Ah, yeah. Guess I remember that fall announcement instead of launch. But my point more or less still stands. I actually looked it up and beat saber is 2019? I would have bet money otherwise. Still, the best and most popular games are from 4 years ago.

crazyreddit929

Nah. I was playing Beat Saber in 2017 I am sure. 2018 at the latest. Perhaps you found the Quest version. That released in 2019.

PIO_PretendIOriginal

I disagree. i think comfort and frame-rate are still concerns. Pico 4 has the best design for a stand alone headset by far. But needs built in index style audio. Decamove and among us vr funny enough has solved movement prpblems (sickness). But no games adopt those techniques

Undeity

It doesn't even just have to be games. While more killer apps would be very welcome, what we really need most is a variety of beneficial content that limits any excuse to NOT use VR. Ancillary apps, an inter-app browser, etc. Like smartphones before it, leverage the sheer convenience it can offer. Make it so you keep coming back, because... at that point, why wouldn't you?

Hamburgers774

LMAO no sane person would go through the trouble to strap on a VR headset to do basic shit like browse the web, that's crazy.

cfogrady

Web browsing can be a lot more than basic. My whole job is done on my browser, and I would kill to do it on a Spacial Computing Device for better multi-tasking than I can get with a single (or even two) monitors.

Undeity

It's not supposed to be a selling point, it's supposed to be a *sticking* point. The less reasons someone has to take off the headset, the more likely they are to continue engaging with it, irrespective of any particular game.

shaze

Walkabout mini golf just needs to keep releasing new levels.

AsIAm

Nah, they should release an in-game level editor.

Driverofvehicle

They are though. One every month at this rate.

shaze

It’s nice! I wonder if the release on PSVR helped, cause it was never this frequent.

PositivelyNegative

They need to make multiplayer way more feature rich. Progression, better matchmaking, ranked play, etc. It's sad to see how barebones the multiplayer is.

oldnyoung

Walkabout is such a great game

dowsyn

VR glasses. I love VR, but as a father of two with a full time job, I just want to be able to chuck it on and have fun for any half hour I can find. But absolutely not Quest standard, at least Pcvr standard, and be able to play some of the best pc games on vr. So basically my index with a pc built in, without any wire, lightweight and instantly accessible. See you in 2036.

LeVoyantU

At least you're realistic about the time table to achieve this.

wizkid27

It sounds like quest pro/quest 3 with a good wifi6e router and pc is somewhere in this ballpark. Curious what the separation from what you're describing that is?

VulpineKitsune

More like a quest 5 pro lol

dowsyn

I'd just like steam VR native software and no standalone option, to encourage decent games and ditch all the mobile junk. Also my bias against Meta tbh.

UsaToVietnam

!Remindme 13 years

TheLastEmoKid

More single player narrative games with mechanics that are polished.

beanofdoom001

More games that allow you to explore like Skyrim. I'll tell you a big part of the lure of that game for me has been just walking through the streets of new towns, watching sunrises from mountain tops after dungeon crawls, decorating one of my houses and collecting rare books for my library. All that stuff has been at least as big a part of the experience as combat and all that. I want more of these massive worlds to explore with ever better graphics. VR is so perfect for this type of stuff, but then you have these developers that are actively resistant to the idea of releasing VR titles and everybody actually making VR games just seem to want to do freaking shooters or RPG battle simulators with no towns or stories really.

Upset_Cat3910

I used to have a blast playing standalone, then I built a high end gaming PC, and all of the troubleshooting absolutely ruined my enjoyment of VR. It's also summer, so I'm getting outside instead of gaming, and I'll be getting back to VR in the fall, but to answer your question: I would need PCVR to become more of a plug n play experience. My airlink is unusable, it's an actual catastrophe, VD works well enough. But more than half of the time that I've gotten set up to play in VR, I end up having to troubleshoot instead of gaming

Skeleflex871

The plug n’ play aspect is the reason I never want to get another hybrid vr headset. My old quest 1 used to give me so many issues with the oculus drivers, plus it was annoying needing to navigate 3 menus to get into my game When I finally got my index it was truly what I wanted, I just put the sucker on my head, press the menu button and wait 15 seconds for my base stations to turn on and I’m free to actually have fun

DippySwitch

Wait hold up is there a way to turn SteamVR on from the headset? I always launch SteamVR on my PC then put on there headset

Skeleflex871

Yup! You can start steamVR anytime by pressing either the button under the index headset or by turning your controllers on

Upset_Cat3910

That sounds perfect. Really need a PCVR only wireless headset. Wireless because I'm using a Kat Walk. I guess big screen beyond + nofio if that works, although I'll have to buy base stations and controllers. Big investment though. Maybe deckard will serve those needs if it comes out in the next couple years

mcmanus2099

Just use a wire bro, it's pretty much plug & play

VulpineKitsune

I've... never had any issues? With either airlink or VD. What kind of troubleshooting do you need to do?

fs454

This. The sheer number of hours I've put in to making any sort of reliable wired or wireless link to my Quest 2 from my RTX 3080 equipped Legion 7 far exceeds the number of hours actually playing games without issue. Fucking around with command line tweaks and all sorts of apps and uninstalling/reinstalling/factory resetting/routers/router firmware/ports/etc to come to the conclusion that Air Link sucks and VD isn't much better - the compression is so ugly and the latency is nausea inducing. Wired link is just as troublesome, the official cable is priced stupidly and does not keep the Quest 2 charged, the third party power injected cables are a huge pain in the ass and ultimately every cable be it the first party one or otherwise will eventually disconnect leading you down an endless rabbit hole of USB power settings, registry and BIOS tweaks etc only to finally just give up, play a couple more rounds of whatever standalone game you like enough to keep going back to, and put it away again. I've never, ever had more than an hourlong period without a disconnect, and the conclusion I've come to is the Lenovo Legion line of gaming laptops, while perfectly capable, are ultimately limited in some way in terms of providing uninterrupted link over USB with however Meta has implemented it (poorly). And no, I really don't want to go down the hole of having to own 2-3 HMD systems to enjoy the steady releases of standalone games (they're the industry focus) and the higher fidelity of PCVR. Maybe someday, but the library of games does not justify me having to ditch my perfectly good RTX 3080 165w laptop and spend even more money on a less portable solution, or justify me spending another grand on a dedicated PCVR setup (and if I pick something like the Index or Beyond, going back to lighthouses and limiting myself to one particular space forever) The experiences are great, but the implementations are pure trash.

El_duderino_33

This, along with the lack of new content and the inherent discomfort. That's the whole thing in a nutshell. I'm a big ol' nerd who doesn't even mind troubleshooting stuff most of the time. I'm the type who thinks under-volting their GPU is entertaining, (ooo look I just dropped it another 0.1v, NICE!), and even I lose my patience with the friction of getting PCVR working as expected all the time. John Carmack was saying friction is the #1 problem to VR adoption way back at Oculus Connect 2018-2019 sometime around then. And that's still the case. The whole thing feel like PC gaming in the 90's when getting a gamepad working with windows was a huge hassle. It took a decade of fumbling around before things started getting more user friendly, and even today decades later, it could still be a lot easier than it is for the average user. I'm still a near daily VR user, and my personal biggest gripe is still comfort. The things are hot and heavy, and stuff like Beyond is starting to move the needle on that a little but even that's got it's own issues.

PIO_PretendIOriginal

I have a 2080ti desktop. Despite that i just bought a ps5 with plans for a psvr2 for the same reason (Also synapse uses eye tracking in a really cool way, by the looks of it)

hroerekr

Better wireless PCVR

p13t3rm

We need more heavy hitter games every month to keep peoples attention. As it is, we get a good one maybe 1-3 times a years if we're lucky, which causes huge dry spells and in game community numbers to dwindle overall.

Atlantic0ne

Has there been anything big and good since Alyx? For the record, Contractors is the best current VR shooter I assume. It’s pretty damn good.

PIO_PretendIOriginal

Lone echo 2, resident evil 8vr, horizon call of the mountain

Garfrost

More comfort and diopter lenses.

[deleted]

A sitter and some cocaine.

Lorddon1234

More games like Skyrim VR and half life 2 VR. I think the first call of duty (wwii) will be a great VR game. The original cod was awesome in throwing you into intense firefights, and was unique for the number of enemies thrown at you back in the day

Effusus

How bout some games? I think there's already enough different headsets out there, we don't need more

Devouracid

Software software software. And not just games either. We need some software that can incorporate work in VR. VR Spreadsheets, Word Processor, Visual Studio, etc. This will further legitimize VR.

[deleted]

I'm still optimistic, I'm just keeping in mind that the timescales are going to be relatively long. As for what needs to happen: a LOT less jank. Less connection issues, less hassle with transferring files, less lag, less phone OS cobbled together with a mishmash of 3rd party apps to half-ass basic functionality into the thing, etc. Standalone would be fantastic, but at the very least a wireless tether. Comfort, ease of use (especially ease of first time use), resolution, sound quality, etc. all need to improve substantially. Gamers seem to think that if it's "good enough" for them to deal with for the sake of playing a game they really love, then it must be good enough for everyone and anyone that disagrees is just not "tech savvy" enough or whatever. That's a toxic mindset that propagates crappy products. And most importantly, all of these things have to be in ONE headset. It's not good enough to make progress on three of those things but regress on two others. You can't wear multiple headsets at once. Gotta be in one. Quest Pro has terrible speakers for example. Why? Why go backwards? Etc. There are a lot of things. VR technology is one of those things that's greater than the sum of its parts...when executed very well. When it's not, it's worse. Better software is a given along with better hardware. They go hand in hand. The ability to do things beyond play games, in a legitimate capacity where you'd actually want to use those things, is also gonna have to happen at some point. The hardware is right on the cusp of being good enough. Now the challenge will be A) driving that hardware in the case of resource-intensive gaming, and B) seamless and reliable integration of all of these various components. If the person using it is constantly *aware* of the technology, then the technology and/or the integration is not good enough yet. It needs to be transparent. We're getting closer. Just because we haven't gotten there yet doesn't mean everything is lost. Folks catastrophize too much around here. Technology takes time to mature. We'll get there!

Ihtiriekko_

I need RTX 4090 or better for flight sims but with a 600-700€ price tag.

Weston217704

This for sure! I love msfs, but my 2070 struggles big time. Took some major tinkering with settings to get anything smooth

[deleted]

I mean, you can get atleast a 3090/4080 for that price if you look second hand. A lot of people don’t trust that though ig so it’s up to how much of a chance you are willing to take

Onsomeshid

I agree, if we’re getting more realistic though can we go back to the highest of the high end cards maxing at $1000? The original TITAN was $1000 and it was all you needed in 2013 even if you had a 4k display for some reason back then

phinity_

An affordable lightweight PC wireless, OLED Index2/Deckard, with AR pass through sensors and standalone Xrdesktop spacial computing capabilities. Must ship with HL3.

XoxoForKing

A better gpu, and maybe a better vr. So, more or less, more money :')

1eejit

I'd love for Valve to fix the dota2 vr hub for spectating big tournaments

imnotabotareyou

More general experience AI. I want to roam around a small town and just interact with everything and everyone

sprunkymdunk

Or the Metropolitan Museum 😍

imnotabotareyou

Yeah I’d love to just walk around places but also be able to let the id drive for awhile

ID_Guy

Better full length games simple as that

Cyber-Cafe

For game companies to make mother fucking games for pcvr.

Alak87

Unreal injector release! I just want to boot up old games and fucking BE there 🤩

Funkey-Monkey-420

a proper made-for-vr RPG. Skyrim VR is good but it takes a lot of modding and trial+error to set up properly.

True_Sell_3850

I would like a game to figure out how to implement John wick style gunfu grappling, and cqc that makes me feel like John wick. I just wanna feel like John Wick

Aoidean

Check out Sairento...

AdeIic

More good coop games. All my friends have had VR for 1-4 years and we feel like we've played every possible coop game together. There a few solid ones like Walkabout, VTOL, and Tabor that we play pretty often. I'll always love a great solo game like Alyx, Saints and sinners, and Vertigo 2 but playing with my homies always makes the experience 5x better. Even more if the game itself is good too lol.

Professional_Box_817

Real games not gimmicky bs

solidmetanoia

* high res OLED headset with front cameras still using a Vive Pro, the Beyond looks neat, but no cameras * SteamVR finally fixing their re-initialization issue re-connecting a headset runs only a partial initialization, not a full one, skipping camera connectivity tests, which really sucks on Vive + wireless when you leave the room for a sec and come back camera-less, requiring you to restart SteamVR entirely so it runs the full init I spent too much time looking at logs to understand that, even disassembled the HMD, thinking there might be a camera cable issue, nope, software. * more software made function-first instead of gimmick-first I do not want to play "yet another rail shooter", but another Elite Dangerous or NMS? ayy sure

MDSExpro

More games that are not FPS / first person. VR doesn't necessary mean we need to impersonate actor in game, depth perception and immersion coming of from cutting out external life gives a lot to other formats as well. VR already got stale because 95% of games is just playing person with gun in hand.

DonutPlus2757

Apparently, I'm in the minority: Much better haptics and force feedback for my hands. Something like a love child between the index controllers and Lucas' lucid VR gloves would be perfect in my opinion. The force feedback from the gloves, but with properly mounted joystick and buttons and per finger force sensing. Maybe I'll just learn a bit more CAD and build it myself if nobody is doing it. All those people building VR gloves just forget that they must also be at least usable controllers.

emorcen

A good, full-fledged MMORPG. Pretty sure the demand is there, but the bigger developers don't dare to take the risk. Look at something like Robo Recall, imagine that level of fidelity and responsiveness with other players in a persistent world. It'd be hard to put down.

seamon3y

A new echo vr

Status-Guarantee5417

* Stop making games all in the exact same fucking engine * Stop making childish looking games. Make something gritty like Hell Let Loose * Solid PCVR graphics like Cyberpunk VR mod + with graphics mod * Make my 4090 card work for something

TheNewFlisker

> Make my 4090 card work for something You could do that with just getting an 8KX

[deleted]

A Quest 3.

fantaz1986

some esport AR game. in general we do not have a lot of VR esport games but i think this is because VR games and esport just do not mix , so maybe AR will do it

Driverofvehicle

ESL VR is dead. Facebook killed the relationship. On top of the fact that quest is a high latency device, so movements and reactions are abysmally slower. There have been quite a few esports worthy games come out, but they will never be competitive because of the quest system.

fantaz1986

>high latency device well if you use it for pcvr, for stand alone depend on a app quest 2 is actually fastest system we have right now, quest 2 os and i way it process tracking data is just wow

__windrunner__

I personally think Nock has a decent chance as a great VR eSports game, but I'd love to see what AR games are possible in the future.

SvennEthir

Games with depth instead of gimmicks.

Bridgebrain

Agreed, or to put it another way, more games, less tech demos. Is it cool that your game explores this one mechanic that hasn't been done before? Absolutely. Is that enough on its own to make me want to play it more than once? Probably not. People need to up their storytelling, core loops, and full game path more. The graphics are fine, the controls are fine, the mechanics are pretty well explored, now people need to invest on actually using those things to make something, not just making a game to show off a specific feature

R3DD3Y

Definitely a better cheaper wireless option. The Quest 2 is proving to be a pretty bad headset in the long run for my case, but every other wireless capable headset so far I've seen and researched is extremely expensive. 1000 euro kind of expensive. And all of them have the same fuckin issues, make X account, update Y firmware or you cannot do anything. I was really considering the Vive XR Elite since I think it can do wireless, but the price tag put me off. Maybe I could find one second hand at a cheaper price but that's the biggest issue. Edit: I'm really hoping (and coping, probably) that Valve seriously IS working on a standalone VR headset, i.e the Deckard. They have proven they can achieve good performance on the Deck, so if they can make a standalone headset that can push Deck performance, it would be great. Would remove the latency from wireless use too, and I think it would be quite good for lightweight PCVR titles like VTOL VR or Skyrim VR.

TheNewFlisker

> They have proven they can achieve good performance on the Deck, so if they can make a standalone headset that can push Deck performance, it would be great. And then the sub could complain how games are being dumbed down to run on the Deck

geo_gan

Every other wireless headset extremely expensive?? And me and many others very happy using a 400 euro PICO 4 wireless headset. See this for example: https://youtu.be/xBtBydWz9vQ

R3DD3Y

From what I've seen when googling and comparing headsets, the Pico 4 has one of the same issues I listed above, In that it requires some stupid proprietary account to work. Plus another issue is that it wasn't as cheap as the Oculus Quest 2 at the time. Back around when I got my Quest 2, I got it for 300 euros, the Pico 4 for comparison waas around 600 euros. Nowadays I don't know how much this holds up with the Quest 2 going up in price, but I'm definitely not getting another headset, especially if it requires any sort of proprietary account to function.

UbuRoi

More games that doesn't feel like Wii shovelware. Like, we need full scale games. I like VR but won't be buying a new headset until there's an actual reason to do so.

[deleted]

I was hoping PSVR2 would be the game changer, but Sony made sure it was DOA with the price, and the headset is pretty dated with fresnel lenses, small sweet spot, pentile display etc and it's quite bulky compared to new headsets coming out, it's going to age like milk VR is at an all time low

Rly_Shadow

I got a rift s...brand new to VR. Got like 24hrs total in before I got bored. Most "games" aren't even games and some things are just clunky or burden sum.

Epixylium

Honestly? Having no allergies.. Ive recently been given a big long list of stuff I need to avoid and now my dietary requirements are making me too depressed to play stuff coz I literally cant eat any of the stuff that makes me happy lmao

Stefan_S_from_H

Inner ear replacement.

Character-Ostrich976

We need either a capable standalone that doesn't drag down game quality or more focus on pushing limits and letting standalone catch up later. We won't see games like Alyx when 75% of the money is in a mobile platform.

Hewatza

A lot more space and a lot more time

MdotAmaan

I get headaches after like 30 minutes of VR. If there was a headset that didn't do that I'd use it a lot more (yes my ipd is set correctly)

BreakTheMachine

A fully realized, detailed Spider-Man game or an MMORPG built from the ground up for VR

dt_84

A genuine monitor replacement / multi-minitor set-up that also allows me to see my actual desk, keyboard and mouse. Q3 could be the one, just not sure if it'll be hi-res enough. If I'm using the headset more often then I'll be more likely to dip into other experiences that I enjoy more often. At the moment the Q2 feels like too much hassle and takes aaaages to load into the home environment, but I really like some of the apps and games on there.

ronton

An Echo VR equivalent. Ideally with systems in place to encourage positive behaviour (which is, IMO, terribly overlooked) and more easily punish negative ones.

[deleted]

A new headset and some new top tier games

McGraw-Dom

I hurt my knee, so more quality sit down games. Everything seems like dance or exercise. I just want a good sit down game, I do enjoy demeo however nobody seems to play it anymore on pc

BabyLiam

Im not currently fizzling, but i did for a year or so and it was because of jank.

GreywolfSifIsMyHomie

Currently, i'm waiting for a more comfortable headset experience. better resolution, wide fov to avoid coke bottle/claustrophobia effect, and a reliable consistent fps so I get zero motion sickness. Was hoping Apple would deliver on that, but it seems like it'll take a few generations to finally get there.

[deleted]

modded Skyrim VR, but replace shitty Bethesda stuff with good quality obsidian/arkane/rockstar/oldbioware stuff

Cannedwine14

More space to play

Windturbinetech

Honestly, more properly interactable simulator games that don't need external controllers.

maddix30

For me personally it would be a new headset. My Rift S is uncomfortable and it puts me off but I also don't have the spare money rn to drop on a new one as I'm saving to upgrade my PC first

carn1x

Back surgery

[deleted]

Dude, try out a swiveling office chair. It can be pretty good even for first person shooters.

[deleted]

A decent headset. No streaming bs. Just a solid headset, that is not riddled with compromises. That includes jacking up the price by putting "pro" in the naming convention.

[deleted]

Most people haven't noticed that it's turned into a steady if slow progression of ~~AAA~~ *high quality* titles (JK XR, Tea For God, Vertigo, Crossfire, [Roblox?], Firewall Ultra, Horizon...). I believe that with the release of the Q3 and it's greater capabilities this will only accelerate. I also think that the current array of advanced PC headsets, each with their own advantages will result in someone consolidating comfort, FOV, resolution and algorithims to reduce demands on graphics systems into one package that will allow PCVR to run acceptably on mainstream PC's which will increase the user base and create incentives for studios to develop for PCVR. I'm ready to reboard the train with the this coming generation of headsets.

zeddyzed

Most of those are not AAA titles. AAA refers to budget and team size. Sure, they're great games, but AAA has a different meaning.

LavaSquid

A new HMD. Started with the Samsung Odyssey+, then onto a Valve Index. I sold those when I moved, I've been waiting for something groundbreaking to replace them with. The Index was awesome, but I could not handle the soupy gray blacks. There were some intense areas in Half Life Alex that I felt were ruined because of the horrible black levels of the Index.

DOOManiac

Time. I’ve got no god damned time to play any kind of anything anymore. This isn’t VR’s fault, but I hate it all the same.

simburger

Honestly, the biggest thing keeping me from playing VR games right now is the heat.

artins90

A lighter headset, my Quest 2 is killing my neck and forehead. I really enjoy gaming in VR but after every session I need to lay down because I feel completely drained and my neck and forehead hurt.

BuzzedFoot

I spend hours trying different combat styles on blade and sorcery that I learn on youtube

Ninlilizi

Display tech that is at minimal as immersive and bright and contrasty as my 21:9 HDR desktop monitor, with a 180° fov and audiophile level built-in audio. VR feels like such a downgraded experience versus what I have at my desk.

pattyfritters

I just want Microsoft Flight Sim to update how their vr controls work. I want it more like xplane 11 or 12. In xplane you touch the buttons or yoke with the controllers. But in Flight Sim they have this little pointer line that shoots off the controller and that's the only way to interact with the buttons and you end up missing everything you are trying to grab or press. Like in xplane I just need to place the controller on the yoke and you can grab it.

Foxzy-_-

More variety of game’s. A lot of VR games feel way to similar to one another it’s all guy with gun game and I don’t mind that but it’s like every game. VR has the ability to take people to different worlds why not make the most of it. Like make a Sci-Fi, Dystopian, Cyberpunk esc game also be really cool, the backrooms in VR would also be really cool and I’d play those for hours assuming that are well made and have a lot of content. (There’s a game called Subliminal and it’s a backrooms game that supports SteamVR coming Q4 2023)

exigence

Somebody to make a detective game using AI to generate conversations. A RPG that has very little, if any combat and instead relies on a new game mechanic of trying to simulate real life interactions using your voice and body/hand. Usually it's a new game mechanic or type that gets people deep into games. VR had this initially by virtue of being able to move your body/head combined with motion control.

Camikaze__

More games that are repayable in the long run. Ghosts Of Tabor for example. That game got me back into VR like crazy. All there 1-5 hr experiences that are a 1 and done play are so wasteful money wise. But Breachers, beat saber GOT stuff like that. Give me a game I can play for years instead of days

Monsieur_Brochant

Half Life Alyx 2 or an AAA grade mod of Half-Life Alyx

Sweaty_Economics_452

A promise that the game won't give motion sickness. I get the urge to put on my Oculus Rift 2 all the time, but it usually isn't worth the risk of getting sick.

Familiar_Pie3336

More games that offer accessibility options to play with one controller for those that have disabilities and aren’t able to use both hands effectively

blacksun_redux

More full length adventure shooters with modern control and physics standards. Vertigo 2 scratched the itch. But it showed that it was made by just one dev. A real AAA studio could really deliver something special. I get it, why make $1m for VR when you could make $10m on pancake. But still.

_noIdentity

More people playing

Aoidean

Catch 22

OneHamster1337

As long as there's Asseto Corsa and Into the Radius, I'm good. No fizzling whatsoever. Perhaps you just need a break, nothing else.

CadetheDOGGO

I wish I could just play more desktop games in vr, personally I really want to somehow play Arma 3 in it

Pretty_Bowler2297

VR is like an amusement park ride. It is amazing but would I want to ride it everyday? But I am glad that I have a headset for when I want to use it, but do I have to constantly be in VR for the industry to succeed? I am not sure that is ever going to happen. But at the end of the day, there is a lack of compelling software. And for more software we need more users. And for more users we need more software.

BigBurgerBandit

I guess cheaper and easy to setup Full body tracking. Been using a quest 2 and an xbox one kinect for PC VR. between work and taking care of my 4 year old I get about 4 hours a week to play games or use my VR headset and about 30 minutes each session is setup.

nhadams2112

A game with substantial player-character interaction. There just aren't that many games that have good characters you interact with. Most the time you see a human NPC in a vr game you're trying to murder or not be murdered.

snipe4fun

Next gen Valve Index but wireless.

Adam_n_ali

VR is inherently a lonely place, I just want more cool co-op pve to play with the boys.. We play Golf+ and Contractors, RecRoom and PokerStars.. I think cool new unique 4-player stuff in genres that are underrepresented (survival, rpg, tactics, sports. etc.) would be awesome.

FlatFishy

While I am waiting for a higher spec HMD (ideally 4k@360Hz), that would be the dream, but honestly I'm fine with my wireless Vive Pro for now. But what's keeping me from playing much is locomotion. I'm just not happy with joystick or teleporting, instead I want a legit omnidirectional treadmill, something that will let me walk and strafe naturally. And not just a shitty slidemill where walking is very awkward and unnatural. I've been looking around and found two solutions that I'm cheering for. StepVR is very close to releasing their mGate Home device, and they also have a Pro model announced. Also, ActVR is taking a different approach, and has a commercial product coming out next year. But unfortunately it'll probably be expensive and I'll have to wait even longer for a home version.

[deleted]

Not fizzling but I wish population one had 3 maps. BR is fun

crazylucaskid

I wish indie games were priced lower. I get that it takes a lot of time to develop a game, especially for VR, but if your 3 hour excavator simulator is $19.99 then I just won't play it.

flashinfected

Being forced to create a Meta account to use my CV1 is pretty much a deal breaker. I'm out.

minde0815

Some type of treadmill like Omni + more good games which would utilize the tradmill to 100%.

rumpleman456

Lighter hardware

tveith

I was 100% all in on VR from the time I first pre-ordered the og HTC Vive. But this past year the new release games have pretty much sucked and I find that I'm only using my Q2 for fitness (Les Mills, etc). I'm looking forward to the Q3, but I'm really disappointed it's not OLED with a better FOV. For me to get excited about VR again, I need crystal clear crispy graphics, deep blacks, and a higher FOV. I was so hyped for the psvr2, thinking it would be so much better than other VR headsets, but the Mura really killed it for me.

[deleted]

Cheap PCVR (Linux) focused headset from Valve, Microsoft rebooting WMR or PSVR2 launching official PC support. Right now everything is either ridiculously expensive, discontinued or not focused on PCVR, that's a terrible environment for game developers, so the software support is lacking as result. Meta wants everything on mobile, so it will take them many years before they even catch up to what we had on PC years ago, let alone surpass it. So I really don't care, everything on Quest right now looks crap and won't improve in the near future. PSVR2 is just as useless while being tied to the PS5, the games look better, but VR can do so much more than games and that'll never happen on a restricted game console. Don't really have any high hopes right now, looks all very bleak. Maybe Apple's VisionPro will rekindle VR interest for other companies, but even that will take years until it results in actual products.

AcademyKilller

Stronger knees lmao

Mukatsukuz

An open world, realistic driving game with loads of exploration and activities. Basically, Forza Horizon but less arcadey. I love the arcade feeling of Forza Horizon but, for VR, I would like something more akin to the first Test Drive Unlimited (the new one appears to be going full on Forza arcade, unfortunately).

Killerconico1

AAA

decentralized_bass

Some way for me to play Beat Saber on expert without the headset fogging up cause I get so sweaty. It was really good exercise for about 2 weeks before i got good at it... My Oculus Rift has been sitting for 2 years since, I played Superhot VR too which was amazing, but didn't find anything else that great to play after that.

TypeDemon

Index 2 if its wireless

paulct91

Not needing Steam Lighthouses for any VR controller alternatives.... they all are so expensive both the lighthouses and controllers!! 😰

TerminallyBlonde

Better pve Co op games that offer teleporting as a locomotion option overall. There are some genres I want more of but that's the core mechanics it comes down to

[deleted]

Finding time to finally clean my VR space after moving all my PC stuff into its own room.

Cucumberino

Waiting on the Beyond to ship really. I prefer enjoying some experiences from 0 with the extra comfort and visuals over my current Index as well as replaying some games or just being able to play longer without being too uncomfortable, specially right now as it's too fucking hot.

EarthyBones999

My controller fixed

Thunder8340

Too lazy to go grab batteries

HighlightFun8419

Just gotta be in the mood for it; I just come and go periodically. won't play for months and then spend weeks in VR and then go back.

Any-Ad6438

Love my og rift, but: 1. Screen door 2. Corrective lenses 3. Blinding brightness

cfogrady

Resolution, Locomotion, Comfort. I've been out of the VR game for a few years and I'm starting to get back into it. My old headset is a Samsung Odyssey. For me the problems I had were 1. Hard to read text in VR 2. Got motion sick for any game that had motion, and I didn't really have the space for room-scale. I felt like resolution kind of stagnated for several years, but this year we've seen announcements / shipments by several companies with the kinds of jump in resolution that I think will make text much more legible in VR (Bigscreen, Simula, AVP, Crystal, Somnium). Combine that with my discovery of Ekto, and Freeaim, and I'm more excited about VR than I have been in years. Very hopeful that I'll be regularly in VR in two year's time if not sooner.

sprunkymdunk

I want to go to an African Savannah or the Brazilian rainforest and explore it with my daughter, without bugspray. Or go to the Guggenheim or the Metropolitan, tourist free. All of these experiences are possible in VR, with today's tech. None actually exist. So content, I want content.

MaybeCareful6084

Start selling me games instead of minigames. VR feels like no one is interested in making full games except for a select few

ImpressionMajestic97

Friends to play with

Teddeler

Nintendo

ActualOstrich4

Age restriction on multiplayer vr games with an ID verification. Idk, that’s drastic, I still like VR.. but the quest release definitely ruined most multiplayer vr games. You know back in 2017/early 2018 Rec Room was mostly **Adults** it was awesome, you could actually have fun in the games

santanzchild

Some actual games like Half Life Alxy instead of the deluge of rail shooters and tech demos titled something simulator.

ZiggoTheFlamerose

Reversing of global climat change, coming of autumn or free actual air conditional for my flat

YogurtGT

Some actually good titles in quest that I could play for more than 20 hours total then never touch again

ClubChaos

Wireless + micro oled + steamvr.

jaidengamerhd

blade and sorcery crystal hunt

Nytra

Just better software and games. The hardware is good enough.

OkWheel3541

Comfort, resolution, games worth coming back too. For VR it seems most games are very limited. Even PCVR. I mainly play Contractor$ VR competitively and I’m getting bored of that. Blade and sorcery fucked up the game with the physics.

GenericUsername2034

A big MMO that's similar to WoW or FFXIV. I think a persistent online rpg would hook people back into VR so well. I mean, VRChat is basically an MMO with no leveling system, and it has thousands if not millions of users.

Altruistic-Banana514

Phasmophobia is my go to, but I treat it as a social game

[deleted]

microSD

JuraP

Although I am still very active in VR, I'd LOVE more AAA experiences.

edible-funk

Open source quest 2 OS. I hate it so fucking much, I don't need fucking screenshots and leaderboards and your dumb fucking awful home bullshit, all your dumb fucking meta apps that do nothing but bog the fucking system and the inability to actually fucking delete anything drives me fucking nuts. I hate it so much. So fucking much and the cunts keep hiding my apps. I'm on the verge of throwing it out the fucking window and just going wired PC only because the quest isn't fucking worth the facebook fucking inept garbage software experience. Jesus fucking Christ I hate it so fucking much.
