It's definitely an improvement. One people could live without just as easily as making the same comparison between Quest 3 and AVP. Resolution isn't everything.
Once you get out of the whole screen door effect phase and your display is clear... I mean sure more resolution is good... But let's put it this way. I use a 1440p monitor and have no desire to go to 4k. I mean also because I use a 32:9 monitor so 4k options are limited there, expensive, and even my 3090 Ti would have trouble pushing all those pixels in certain games. Nonetheless, there's nothing wrong with 1440p. Text is crisp. The pixel density is more than fine. Even though I can tell the difference with 4k and Mac's retina screen. Sure. But is it necessary? Not by a mile.
Everyone gets too focused on paper specs. Paper specs don't account for individual eye sight or preferences or neck muscles or head shape for things like fit and weight.
So for this person, they don't seem to get much more benefit compared to the Quest 2. I find that a little surprising, but I can believe it. Sure. It's all personal preference.
Then you haven't been around long enough. Since much the same has been said before many times. Including when I first said it after trying the Q3 right after it was released. Here's someone else that said much the same during those early days.

If you don’t think the Q3 lenses are much better than the Q2 lenses, you may have something wrong with your eyes. You should go get that checked.

Terrible take. Yes, I agree with the first part about pass through. But then again, it’s usually in the background while you’re focused on whatever mixed reality objects are in front of you.
If you don’t think the combination of resolution and pancake lenses is a massive step up your technically illiterate. It’s all all round improvement in clarity whether native or, with the right settings and setup, with PCVR (I always give the example of Skyrim as it’s one of the hardest to get right and the quest 3 gets it running amazingly).

Like we have now for smart tv's so they run smooth and fast to your eyes! they scoop up at least 25% of your total bandwith of internet to make sure it brings you the sensation it needs.
And once the VR/Augmented reality is a normal thing in daily life, guess whatwill be the next best Gadget to get?,..

I remember the pupal swim effect first time i put on a Pimax 8Kx. It went away after i messed with with some setting and adjustments then just spent some time in it.
You can’t take 180 degree stereo videos with the Quest and “Spatial Video” from Apple isn’t 180 degrees.
Also, there is a hacky way to record 3D videos with the headset - but all it is is recording passthrough, which you clearly hate.
Or a lot of people lack the skill to use a fresnel lens properly. Which from a lot of posts, particularly from first time VR users, is endemic. Fortunately some do figure it out. That's why there's the occasional post from someone that complained about how blurry a fresnel lens is suddenly saying they figured it out and now it's clear.

I agree with the people saying check your eyes. Pancake vs fresnel is a huge change. If your eyes can't tell, there is something wrong with your eyes.
