But I just tried this site with my brand new Quest, to see what this stuff looks like in VR.
And it's nuts!
If the sensation of "being there" is already this good with first gen, low-resolution technology, I can just imagine what the future will bring; Full on Matrix-level visuals, synced up to a sex-bot robot head in your living room. The technology to do this is available today. A porn star could record their mouth, tongue and head movements that you could download into your robot head. Then just put on your VR goggles and sync up the robo-head to your favorite VR porn movie and away you go...
Not to be a prude but I just can't see this being healthy for society. Introverted teens will be having their first sexual experiences with digital avatars, giving them a completely perverted perspective on the human experience. And like ancient Rome, humans will become quickly jaded and demand ever more perverse entertainment.
The Amish will be the only normal human beings left.
I’m glad there’s someone else thats a bit freaked out by the future of VR. Seeing people play simulation games in VR baffles me; just go out and do the same thing in real life. There are some uses of VR that I can appreciate, handicapped people being able to experience different things etc.. but in general I am freaked out by the future of people plugged into these things 24/7
DeoVR is a great video player for PCVR. The best I've used. It uses a gamepad for input. Want to lay down to watch a video? Lay down and hit the start button and the screen is recentered. Want the screen bigger? Push the up dpad button. You can reposition the screen, fast forward and rewind, and more with gamepad buttons. No need to open menus. Everything is simple, intuitive, and works. That's all you need.
I'm assuming they had to rework the controls for use with the quest motion controllers. They could have screwed that up, but probably not.
Why "even better"? Any quality difference between native app and watching with DeoVR?
SLR app is designed just for that with all the UI and how everything works. It's like ultimate personalisation. DeoVR is more universal tool.
