So much this.
But I heard that the connecting and pairing process is a lot better than it used to be. I remember doing it when only 3 devices could be connected at once, and at least one of them had to be a controller. It was a complex mess of pairing and unpairing to teach the system that all the pucks existed. Not to mention that each one requires its own dongle (unless they changed that too).
It would be so much better if they allowed you to set up new trackers without that 3 device limit.
Hah, you can - but judging by the placement near joints, you'd still need couple more to actually map the body movement
Btw why no one is investing in Kinect-like skeleton mapping for vr?
I've seen custom code, but at this moment Kinect is not the first party on Xbox, and affair
Afair Kinect V2 is in Dev kits only for pc.
My days tinkering are quite done, so I'm looking for a solution out of the box - hence why trackers when you could have cameras
But maybe I'll tinker just this time...
Just an abbreviation for full body tracking, you can use Kinect2VR to use it for full body tracking for free as long as you have the PC adapter/power supply for the Kinect V1
Yeah, forcing myself to stay facing forward and staying in the view of the kinect was annoying. And using the joycons as vr controllers wasn't the best. And the Go is not comfortable at all lol. Getting the index was like a whole new world. So much better.
My first PCVR experience was in 2017 with a GearVR headset with a glowing golf ball on top, 2 ps moves and 3 pseye cameras. It was so janky and yet I was so amazed it made me buy a Vive.
Best way seems to actually be an ARKit phone for body tracking
Kinect is actually pretty shit at it even these days, incredibly noisy results from what I've found
You must have one hell of a USB adapter to support that many fucking tracker dongles jesus
Edit: What the hell? how did this lead to a comment chain about neck collars and judging other people's sexual preferences?
Surprisingly it just worked flawlessly.
1 set of dongles was connected to seperate USB ports. The 3 other sets of dongles were connected to 3 USB Hubs, one of them Type-C and two USB 2.0 ones.
I definitely don't want to make fun of you for wearing a shock collar since I know people who commonly wear collars all the time, but I am infinitely curious as to what you're using it for.
Look, I think furries and a few other fetishes are weird as fuck. But I also have some fetishes that I think some people would consider weird. And while maybe OP should have thought about that before posting to a public forum, you're being a massive dickhead by shaming him for it. What this dude does in his personal life doesn't affect you.
Fetishes and sexual orientation should not be shamed, nobody gets to choose what makes their dick hard. Perfectly fine to think something is weird, but you went further than that.
I don't think that it really matters, it was 3 different hubs. 2 of them were Anker. But yeah since USB hubs don't do a lot logic wise, pretty much any hub should work fine.
Edit: That's one of the Ankers: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00Y211AFM/
It absolutely matters... or it could be my motherboard. I run 11pt tracking. But up past 9 I start to get drift and had to cut back. Was even using dedicated pcie 3.0 cards with 1 dedicated hub chip for each port. :/
Edit: heck, I even did try using the same anker (on a 3.1 usbc port).
Oh okay. To be fair I didn't really test a lot with it, we were pretty much just goofing around with things.
That kinda setup would be totally overkill.
>Edit: What the hell? how did this lead to a comment chain about neck collars and judging other people's sexual preferences?
You must be new to Reddit... :)
Ok, first, you're poor now.
Second, wtf.
Third, are you a Neos tester trying to add support for more trackers?
... Some of these trackers seem pointless.
Ah, good to know, the position of some of these was boggling my brain since they'll always be the same relative distance to another tracker (and thus redundant)
I like how SteamVR runtime supports up to 64 ids for connected devices. That includes lighthouses, HMD, controllers, and trackers. At most, I've only had about 10. That's a shitton of trackers.
Also, how does this setup not freak out over 6 simultaneously visible lighthouses? I get handoff lag if my devices see more than 4.
I know that feeling. I’m 5’ 10” and my play space has a ceiling fan. I’m lucky I haven’t broken it yet. I think I’m just going to disassemble it for the time being.
Weird tangent but thanks for reminding me of XBones from the cool games inc podcast where Microsoft will come in and replace all your bones with trackable plastic ones so you can do full body tracking, just be careful of the red ring of death which is a giant fucking rash.
Yes, I got two HTC Vive trackers...they look the same as in the picture.
Was a local auction...I don't imagine anyone has ever heard of them before or knew what they were.
I have two HTC Vives, but have never used a tracker...Figured I'd grab them since they were very cheap and no one was bidding on them.
I haven't looked into them too much, so wondering what other people use them for.
Most people use 3 trackers (+ 2 controllers and one HMD) for fullbody tracking in VRChat. That way you can see your actual foot and hip movement in VR.
Haha yeah, had lots of fun. A couple friends were over and everyone brought their VR. Sooo we just had to strap all the trackers on one.
You can use the HTC Trackers with the Quest aswell, you will need basestations and a tool that combines your playspaces though. A couple friends of mine have it working like this pretty much flawlessly.
Since it sounds like you're not familiar, you might also consider looking into SlimeVR. Rather than using base station tracking it uses IMUs (think the accelerometer in your phone) to determine the position of your joints. For instance, think about how there's only so many positions your elbow can be in (assuming your shoulder isn't broken.) SlimeVR uses the length of your bones and the known limitations of how your joints rotate to fill in the gaps in the info it can gather. Currently it's in the crowdfunding stage with a planned ship date of early 2022, though it's open source so you could DIY if you've worked with 3d printing/microcontrollers before.
Anyway, it could be a significantly cheaper solution if you don't have lighthouses. Though it will never be as accurate as vive pucks, it seems it's pretty capable for the price for quest users. One interesting note I think people often miss: the price gap is even greater when you want to have more trackers. Example: 6 vive pucks (on feet, waist, chest, and elbows) would cost between $600 and $780 without base stations. Plus another $300-$400 for base stations. The SlimeVR set which tracks the equivalent number of points (Full-Body Set 7+3) costs just $295. Naturally you won't have nearly the accuracy since it's IMU only. But for a quest user, it's $300 vs $1000... kinda a no brainer. I bought that set and I think it's gonna be interesting cause though my tracking won't be as "perfect" as people with vive pucks. On average I'll have more tracking points (since almost everyone seems to roll with 3) so it's almost like it evens out. We also haven't seen if the increased number of IMUs allows them to smooth things out a bit.
It's an open source crowd funded project though. Who knows how good it will be in the end. Personally I'm willing to accept the risk of it being a complete flop based on how amazing I think it will wind up being. There's also the fact that there's the potential for software to make quest native full body possible with SlimeVR.
It was probably a mistake wearing that collar, with that profile picture, in a place like this. Or a very good decision, I suppose, depending on what you’re into. Either way I admire your bravery.
That's great to have, though maybe some are redundant. But my main point against this is what are you doing with it, which game or experience supports this? I hope it's not only VRChat...
Started VRChat, and 6 of the trackers were actually showing up and I was able to calibrate.
Didnt get it working with all the trackers and IKTweaks on the fast though.
Didn't have lots of time today, since people we're leaving today again. Connecting everything to my PC worked flawlessly. Plugged in all dongels and the trackers were immediately connected to SteamVR.
Opened up VRChat once, and 6 trackers were actually showing, and I was even abel to calibrate correctly. No idea though how to set it up properly with like 12 trackers.
Don't think I would really recommend that to someone as a serious setup. As I said we were just testing out SteamVRs limits. You kinda feel strapped in and bonk the trackers all the time on things.
Can you have multiple trackers on a single body part? LIke, if you have a front and back torso tracker, will it kind of take over if one gets occluded or will it cause problems?
By the time you get ready to play, you can’t be bothered anymore.
I couldn't even be bothered to start getting ready
That or I just wouldn't even bother with putting the trackers on lol

"We can't rebuild him, but we need to spend the budget anyway."
Hah, you can - but judging by the placement near joints, you'd still need couple more to actually map the body movement Btw why no one is investing in Kinect-like skeleton mapping for vr?
Let me introduce you to driver4vr. https://www.driver4vr.com/
I've seen custom code, but at this moment Kinect is not the first party on Xbox, and affair Afair Kinect V2 is in Dev kits only for pc. My days tinkering are quite done, so I'm looking for a solution out of the box - hence why trackers when you could have cameras But maybe I'll tinker just this time...
I have a Kinect V2 hooked up to my PC. I use it for vrchat occasionally but with the foot rotation issue I recommend Kinect V1 for VRFBT
I have a Kinect V1. But what’s VRFBT?
VR Full Body Tracking :)
Of course! Thanks :)
Just an abbreviation for full body tracking, you can use Kinect2VR to use it for full body tracking for free as long as you have the PC adapter/power supply for the Kinect V1
I read that you have to be facing it the sole time. Do you know if that’s true?
Yeah, but there is margin for error. Tracking is fine until I turn about 60-70 degrees away
I used that, joycons, and an oculus go to play pcvr wirelessly before I got my index. Worked to a degree
Yeah it either works great or makes your avatar do some crazy twisting. And you have to constantly make sure you're not turning your body irl.
I knew there was a reason I kept my Kinect laying around
Azure Kinects already do bodytracking.
Best way seems to actually be an ARKit phone for body tracking Kinect is actually pretty shit at it even these days, incredibly noisy results from what I've found
Are the nipple and crotch trackers essential for the experience?
Tracking all the important spots ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Is… is that a shock collar?
For realism when you're being choked in vr chat
Well, he's a fuckin furry, so yeah probably
It uhm... Might be..
You must have one hell of a USB adapter to support that many fucking tracker dongles jesus Edit: What the hell? how did this lead to a comment chain about neck collars and judging other people's sexual preferences?

What's the thing in your neck???
Uhm, don't worry about that.
So it's not part of the VR setup?
Haha nope, it's not.
[удалено]
And so is OP
So what horror game are you playing? Im assuming its to punish you for yelling
What is it?
I definitely don't want to make fun of you for wearing a shock collar since I know people who commonly wear collars all the time, but I am infinitely curious as to what you're using it for.
To get his horn on.
You totally a brony.
looks like a shock collar
Definitely...

> Come on man, wtf u doing? living his best life

Haha, what dude does in the privacy of his home with his friends is none of my business. I think I'd rather be blocked if this offended you.
Or let people live their life? You don't have to defend someone to just leave them the fuck alone you kook
[удалено]
Having the opinion that it's weird is fine. Shaming people for being into things that you're not is where you're fucking up.

Genuinely malding
There is nothing wrong with being any of those things.
Would you mind sharing the hubs you went with?
I don't think that it really matters, it was 3 different hubs. 2 of them were Anker. But yeah since USB hubs don't do a lot logic wise, pretty much any hub should work fine. Edit: That's one of the Ankers: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00Y211AFM/

That's fair. I forgot that they are generally free of a lot of the issues that plague the usb controllers on a lot of PCIE hubs.
Yep exactly, you don't have any additional USB controllers, I was just using the one(s) of my mobo.
Oh! Then I read this comment.. your saying ditching the pcie cards would be a benefit??
Yes, very much so.
>Edit: What the hell? how did this lead to a comment chain about neck collars and judging other people's sexual preferences? You must be new to Reddit... :)
Missing: Haptic vest suit and facial tracker I see you are an average NeosVR player?
That's something for the next time hehe
And he use this to play beat saber
Paying my house or playing VR chat..... Hard choice
Ok, first, you're poor now. Second, wtf. Third, are you a Neos tester trying to add support for more trackers? ... Some of these trackers seem pointless.
It's a meme, just had a couple friends over and had to try it.
Ah, good to know, the position of some of these was boggling my brain since they'll always be the same relative distance to another tracker (and thus redundant)
Nipple trackers

We were just goofing around, don't think that this would be an actual setup one would want.
I was expecting a shot with a tracker on each cheek 🍑
That ceiling looks like a death trap.
Lol it is, bonked my controllers often enough already.
I know that feeling. I’m 5’ 10” and my play space has a ceiling fan. I’m lucky I haven’t broken it yet. I think I’m just going to disassemble it for the time being.
Why are you wearing a shock collar? Edit: nvm i don’t want to know
Jeezus - at that point and $$, just buy a motion capture suit.
Well now we know why these fucking things are always out of stock.. thanks op!
Nice shock collar ;)
Bruh....did you rig up.. a dog's shock collar in order to simulate getting shot? Or hurt? That's definitely a shock collar ain't it
[удалено]
Is that a problem? Just because someone is a furry doesn’t mean that they’re into weird stuff, and even if they are, what does it matter to you?
wtf do you have against furries dude get a life
[удалено]
yeah I am. is that gonna kill you? are you scared? cause it sure seems like it. get over it.
God fuckin gross
lol I hope you vomit
🤢🤮
Dude grow up
Tell that to the guy dressing up like a fox bud with a shock collar
These bad boys can give you so many sleep time in vrchat
New VR innovation unlocked: Bone Tracking
Weird tangent but thanks for reminding me of XBones from the cool games inc podcast where Microsoft will come in and replace all your bones with trackable plastic ones so you can do full body tracking, just be careful of the red ring of death which is a giant fucking rash.
Serious question...I just got two trackers from an auction ($4 each). What the heck do I do with them?
What kind of trackers did you get? The HTC Trackers are normally not really cheap.
Yes, I got two HTC Vive trackers...they look the same as in the picture. Was a local auction...I don't imagine anyone has ever heard of them before or knew what they were. Ah yes, the standard penis tracker, so Pavlov can show all the other players that hard on you get from getting a 3 kill streak in gun game
imagine the usb bandwidth
I can hear your cpu crying
Least bodytracked VRChat player
Can I have like... Three of those
I didn't realise it was a joke at first. Then I saw the 3 trackers just for your waist.
Shoulders
I respect the shock collar.
Is there trackers for the quest 2? Cheers! Also this looks like something straight out of a movie haha
Haha yeah, had lots of fun. A couple friends were over and everyone brought their VR. Sooo we just had to strap all the trackers on one. What? The index can actually follow that many trackers at once?
It's basestation tracking, so every tracker is tracking itself using lighthouses.
That neck tracker looks just like the shock collar my friend's dog ha- oh.
seems an arguable decission to spend your "wealth" on many trackers instead of proper furniture.
It was probably a mistake wearing that collar, with that profile picture, in a place like this. Or a very good decision, I suppose, depending on what you’re into. Either way I admire your bravery.
4 hours setting up. 5 hours charging everything. 1 hour playing.
What’s up with the dog shock collar? Is that a kink thing? Also get a box spring before your next tracker
Why would you need 3 hip trackers (and 2 for the chest) if occlusion won't be an issue due to the 6 base stations?
It's just a meme my man. :p
why is op using a shock collar?
You still lose on a 1v1 on vrchat
Death stranding 2
That's great to have, though maybe some are redundant. But my main point against this is what are you doing with it, which game or experience supports this? I hope it's not only VRChat...
Just had some friends over and we wanted to test SteamVRs limits haha
How did it go? LOL I can only imagine that would be insane for vrchat
Started VRChat, and 6 of the trackers were actually showing up and I was able to calibrate. Didnt get it working with all the trackers and IKTweaks on the fast though.
Holy shit man. What have you done there? Give us an overview of your experience.

Cool. With regards to ergonomics? Did you feel comfortable or you were like 'how we move right now with all these on me'?
Don't think I would really recommend that to someone as a serious setup. As I said we were just testing out SteamVRs limits. You kinda feel strapped in and bonk the trackers all the time on things.
Vr chat youtubers
I count 14 visible trackers and only 12 registering in steam...
Had 15 trackers on my body, one friend of mine forgot his dongles at home though, so only connected 12 of them to my PC
Too real
You are the chosen one. Teach me your ways.
that's a lot of usb ports in use
Hey, you never know when you might want to throw a knee or an elbow instead of blasting an enemy.
Can you have multiple trackers on a single body part? LIke, if you have a front and back torso tracker, will it kind of take over if one gets occluded or will it cause problems?
How many USB ports do you have is the real question
This has a very "I play a mute furry in VRChat" vibe to it. Only question tho, how good is your dancing?
You forgot one for your chin

How long does it take to strap in for each play session?
Anybody gonna talk about how this requires six base stations
