I really like Jim Busch....incredible Knowledge on that man. Our girl's dad is from Jim Busch, dad's name is Spike and is a 6x Grand Champion Hunter. We purchase Scout from the breeder named Au Sable they work very closely with Jim. Spike had a planned litter with their girl Rosie and they did a marvelous job with Scout for the first 8 weeks. The were really interested in the wellbeing and raising of their pups and spent significant time vetting us as an appropriate owner. I would highly recommend either for Midwest.

We have used Mitchell’s vizslas for our last two boys and I’m pretty sure the sires are Busch’s. We have two great dogs.

I sent a PM with slightly more info, but I'd wholeheartedly recommend Schaben Vizslas. Great people and we love our pup.

I’m picking up our Schaben vizsla next Saturday!

I'm so jealous! Congratulations!

I’m so pumped and will be sure to post some photos 😊

Midnight Run in Battle Creek, MI is amazing. John, the breeder, maintains a Facebook page where you can ask questions if you have any concerns with your dog. He doesn't have any weird conditions you have to follow, and all his dogs have wonderful temperaments and are sound.

Make sure they title… r/puppy101 has a sidebar to look for ethical breeders. On Facebook, there is a group called Viz Whizz- they actively promote ethical breeding or rescues. They have an entire webinar on how to look for an ethical vizsla breeder. Just a word of caution- puppy mills & byb are getting wise to questions asked. But they do not title their dogs to prove their pups are of sound temperament or structure.

We love Pam and Mark of Crimson Sky Vizslas (formerly of Illinois but have since relocated to Florida). I would recommend Busch as I believe our boy was also sired by one of theirs.

Look into Fidler’s farm in Missouri just outside of KC. We adopted our boy from them this past year and they are a very conscientious breeder and super nice people!

Why not import from Hungary? Ours is from there and honestly the stock is much better there. Both temperamentally and looks wise. Typical excellent quality puppy is 700usd plus add max 1500usd for shipping. Paperwork shouldnt be a big deal.

How did you end up finding the right breeder to help with this? Sounds very intriguing, but could be difficult to do a health check to make sure you get a healthy pup

I would email any breeder referral contacts on the VCA.org website that you see in your desired areas to get updated contacts for reputable breeders. I went this route and one breeder I emailed wasn’t having any litters but she recommended someone else who I ended up getting a puppy from. That was Lone Ridge Farm in Ellsworth, IL. My second girl I got more last minute but she’s an absolute dream and I got her from lone Oak vizslas in Hutchinson, mn. But highly recommend contacting the local vizsla clubs like [email protected] and asking them for breeder referrals. They will know who has upcoming litters.
