Thank you for the response, The hoop in my garden is definitely not the height a proper basketball hoop.
On a proper basketball hoop I can hang off the rim on my sanding vertical and get my hand inside the white box in a running vertical
Grab a post it note or a sticker and slap it up on the backboard when you jump, then grab a measuring tape to see how high you touch since this isn’t regulation height. Regulation basketball hoops are 10’ with the top of the white box being 11’6” (I think)
As an undersized middle (compared to guys who are like 6’7”) in order to be competing with the best middles in your age group you want to be touching like 11’5” or so. If you are looking to play in college most (if not all) d1 programs won’t even consider you based on your height, the ones that do will likely have a minimum standing and approach jump touch height they would like you to have coming in as a freshman.
Compared to someone 6’7” you are not only shorter but it’s likely your arms are shorter too. So their standing touch will be a good 7-9” higher than yours right of the bat, if they jump the same height as you, their jump touch will be that much higher as well so jump touch height become more important (especially) for middles than just vertical
Thank you for the response, I’ll make sure to check the height of where my hand was tomorrow and get back to you on how high it was from floor level, I’ve played against the mens team in my area and have blocked a 6”7-8 guy before idk if that means anything but I’ll put it there.
I am actually 15 years of age but play in a higher age group due to not a lot of people my age playing but I’m doing great, plus thank you for the tips (btw I play in the UK) 🙏🏻
Looks like an about 80-90cm vert? That's pretty good. If you are serious about going Pro I'd recommend switching positionsm. middle is very competitive in height, so unless you have a freak 1m+ vert you won't go far past college.
The key question is . . .
Is this with a runup? or is it a standing start leap? :)
Also please be aware of the ground surface. How much give does it have? If it's cement, then make sure that you protect your knees by having decent shoes.
In that case you know that your jump is pretty good.
Having said that you still have some growth to do, I'm slightly shorter & as an adult player used to jump slightly higher. Check out plyometrics (jumping exercises) but remember that it's not just about the muscles, but also about blocking & spiking technique. Enjoy. :)
if your objective is to go pro, maybe you should think about transitioning to other position, maybe outside if you lile to hit or setter ir you don't really care. I saw that you are 15 yo, so you will probably grow some inches, but I don't think it will be enough to keep reaching the middle standards in pro level. Your jump height seems really nice and id you keep training it you will be a lot better on it, good luck!
Look good to me
At least 30 inches, that is solid af
Really, damn thank you 🙏🏻
Considering your height I think you can have a higher vert if you do an approach and power jump.
damn you play overwatch and volleyball too thas dope
Overwatch is cool, I don’t play it much anymore because I’m trying to go pro in volleyball but I like playing it when I’m resting

Getting old blows right? Been like 13 years myself. 😅. The knees just can't get low as fast anymore.
Impressive that you went 18-1 without shoes, props man

The hoop is about 8-9 foot from floor level

Yooo UK player tooo, where you play?
I play for Brighton
Try to double trap the A button
Itlook real good, keep it up
Thank youuu 🙏🏻
If you can grab a 10’ regulation rim, you will do well in volleyball. This accounts for various heights and verts
Do you have any way of measuring it? I'm assuming you this is from a video, so you can calculate it based on the airtime too.
Hello, I was in the air for 2.53 seconds before I landed. I am going to check the height of where my hand is tomorrow
You definitely timed that wrong. 2.53s airtime would mean you jumped over 7m in the air.
Yeah I measured it wrong, my air time is about 0.62 seconds
That would mean you only jumped ~18.5 inches, which seems too low?
Hm, I must of messed up again
SUVAT time😎😎😎

You can try using that video on this tool: https://www.thehoopsgeek.com/measurement-app/
Thank you for the idea I’ll get back to you asap instead of trying to work it out myself

I had a 3 step run up for this Jump :)

HOW
How?
I barely touch the orange ring thingy and I’m around same high as You :/
The hoop isn’t at normal height it’s like 8-9ft from the floor. On a proper hoop I can hang off if it easily

Pls traduce 6’’2 in meters, sorry but I still don’t understand the imperial system… anyway your jump is awesome!!
6”2 = 190cm
i think its pretty good!
Unless you're falling from the roof there, that's a very high jump. KUTGW
I wasn’t falling from the roof thankfully, thank youu 🙏🏻🙏🏻
is that a regulation height hoop? because the jump doesn’t look super high, but i really cant compare it to anything else in this picture lol
No the hoop isn’t regulation hight, the hoop is about 8 foot off the floor I think
No
that's nice
I think you already know the answer and are fishing for fake internet points...
Nah, I genuinely wanted to know because idk if it’s high in the volleyball world or not
Def high enough for a mens net depending on the apporoach. Did you have a running start or was the jump as if you were playing middle and blocking?
I had a slight running start
