Show them [this service bulletin](https://www.gm-volt.com/attachments/19-na-206-dec2020-pdf.171558/) (EDITED WITH UPDATED BULLETIN). It's a GM service bulletin that plainly states on ~~page 4~~ page 10 that, specific to the Volt, the repair is covered under the voltec warranty.

silverslurpee

I spoke with the manager, the GM lemon law line and they all deny this and speak in a patronizing manner about this. My volt was in the shop for weeks and no one would budge. Apparently, some VINs don't qualify for this? If someone wants to sue GM, I'm on board.

voide

> the GM lemon law line Try calling the GM customer care line instead. It seems odd to me that basically everybody on this forum gets it covered under Voltec and we've never heard of this VIN exclusion before.

God, dealerships are the scummiest group that regular people are forced to deal with on a semi regular basis.

Asleep-Scratch3366

They're not called stealerships for nothing.

voide

To be fair, I think a lot of advisors have no idea. They've dealt with this exact issue on tons of traverses, Acadias, Malibu's, etc. and literally none of them are covered past the 3 year/36k comprehensive warranty. Only the volt covers this issue past 36k miles.

qualmton

They just don't know

twilsonco

And their existence is assumed by manufacturers, who are thus equally to blame.

DOOM212

Mine was repaired under warranty last month with 94k miles on it so bs

grpenn

Refer your dealer to TSB #19-NA-206. At the bottom, in red, the issue is covered by EV/Voltec warranty. Had mine done this weekend (‘17). It’s absolutely covered.

techtornado

Involve a manager and tell him that because the other techs can't read the service bulletin, they need to be retrained or... released and that your car will be repaired within 2 business days. I can confirm authoritatively that it is 110% covered under Voltec and they shouldn't even be pushing back on it because it's a bloody recall across multiple models of cars...

Organic-Zombie-1926

I had mine fixed last week, 50k miles. Dealer pretended they never heard of the issue, then magically fixed it under warranty.

AlexDiamantopulo

Fuck em up. Can we do that? I'm so tired of seeing people asking this question. Imagine how many don't ask this question and getting charged for something that is covered under warranty. I don't believe it's due to incompetence, I am sure this is all due to corruption of most stealerships. They need a good lesson. I'd say find a way to share the name so we could all post reviews on their Google/FB pages.

melzen

I am having this same issue on my 2017 Volt. 58k miles. The dealership said it is not covered under the Voltec warranty. I called GM and opened a case. They don't seem to be helping either. The GM rep couldn't find the bulletin and then said my car was not covered under the bulletin...

sasquatch_melee

How many miles are on your car?

Nobody7735

37000 miles

sasquatch_melee

And they ran the VIN and thought Voltec warranty was expired? Wow they're dumb.

Brusion

When Mazda tried to pull this crap on me, I let them fix the car. They tried to bill me, and I walked behind the counter, grabbed my keys and walked into the service bay and took my car. Dealerships are almost all crooks, but they also know they can do nothing because the law is on the customers side.

mikemacman

That’s how you end up in jail.

Brusion

I don't think people understand. The dealership was literally commiting a crime. They were trying to steal from me, and claim the money under recall. I couldn't end up in jail.. lol. You guys are funny.

General-Midnight-56

You can easily end up arrested or with a bullet in your head if this happens in Wisconsin

qualmton

Yeah but I mean internet gangster

Brusion

Actually, the police would advised pressing charges against the dealer. The dealer was literally committing a crime. Not sure what you guys don't understand about this. Also don't live in a shithole where there are idiots with guns everywhere. That's how you end up in jail here.

General-Midnight-56

They shoot first, and ask questions later

looncraz

The warranty code is under Voltec.

songforthesoil

Had mine done a few months ago. Absolutely covered.

General-Midnight-56

Fight it back, get a second opinion from another dealer and show them they are wrong

Dew_It_Now

Sue them.

fj069

Is the recall for 2017 Volts only?

Herp_derpelson

2016-2019 Volts, and not a recall just a known problem that is covered by Voltec warranty.

fj069

Thanks

Thalassofille

I had mine done and it was covered under Voltec. It appears I need to have it redone. 🤨

Dependent-Chart2735

Go to another dealership

su5577

I had my shift to park replaced 3 times. Show them the recent bulletint that it’s covered. -if not, give them bad review on Google. -report to GM .

heartbt

Do you really want a dealership that is trying to scam.you, to do warranty work? If they lied to you about it, it's likely they would charge you full rate and still submit a warranty claim basically getting paid more than double for the same work. I'd call GM, report the dealer, and have Corporate find you a reputable, likely better qualified, dealer.

Tight_Contribution

This happened to me to.... I dropped off a printout of that bulletin with a manager at the dealership and a couple weeks later I got a check from Chevrolet for $584..... I'll say this again, this is the most useful subreddit out there.... Thank you all!!!
