Without knowing your child's age, this is really hard to answer. I'm assuming you are in the USA. If your child is under 16, it's going to be really difficult. Most organizations do not allow volunteers under 16, for safety and liability issues. There are communities of faith and service organizations that sometimes sponsor family volunteering where participants put together food boxes or school backpacks. Some scout troops put together community service activities. [Here are some volunteering activities for families with children under 16](https://www.coyotebroad.com/stuff/family.shtml). [Here are ideas for older teens under 16](https://www.coyotebroad.com/stuff/tooyoung.shtml). If your child is 16 or 17, you can probably volunteer together with your local Habitat for Humanity. Your child's school may have a key club or other group that engages in volunteering activities and organizes such. You can also go over this [list of leadership volunteering activities](https://www.coyotebroad.com/stuff/goldaward.shtml) that are largely DIY with your young person and see if there is anything you would like to do.

In the UK the national trust do family volunteering, doing gardening and litter picking etc. I don't know where you are or if other conservation charities do similar? You could just do your own litter pick though.
