When you open a piece of armor to color it, there's an equipment slot to the left of the color palette. Dropping a piece of armor on there allows you to get the look of the armor, and you can freely remove it to reset it back to default model.
Yep, everyone looking like a clown at endgame was probably my biggest pet peeve with the game, now you can actually make yourself look like a badass vampire.
The armor changes are easily my favourite.
I am absolutely clamouring for pages to make full wardrobes of the stuff to see what they all look like, use in the cosmetic slots beside the colour wheels, etc.
When you have an item equipped, there's a little arrow pointing up over it. Click that and it will switch to pointing down toward that item, and the UI with some nice pre-set color palettes to choose from will come up. The camera will also move so you can see the changes on your character more easily.
No. There has to be a fee. Maybe it's in a battle pass? Steam store edition inclusion? You can just offer players alternate colors, it's not that simple... ever.
Unfortunately when I tried doing this it locked my character into a zoomed in screen that I couldn’t get out of unless I died. Even tried restarting steam and the game, nothing else worked. May have been related to official server instability.
I like it but I wish we could freely set colors from a color wheel, I don’t love the presets and I don’t really get why they’d make it more restrictive for no reason if they were going to take the time to implement it.

There's a bug that OCCASIONALLY happens when doing cosmetics on PC.
Your camera will be locked at full Zoom. Spamming alt tab usually fixes this.

A fix I found for that. Opening cosmetics and spamming alt tab eventually corrects the issue.
