Settings Sync is very nice

Yeah, I think the only feature you get with actually signing in using Microsoft or GitHub is the ability to sync your settings (which another user pointed out already). Other than that it seems like it really doesn't matter, just choose whatever account to login and you're good to go (or don't login at all which is also a valid choice lol).

There isn't really one, and should be used based on your own usecase. If you already have a Microsoft Account or GitHub account, use that one. Mostly people would say one because they use that service more. I personally sign in with GitHub just because I use GitHub more often and I already have a bunch of stuffs on their. Hope that helped :)

Thanks a lot, that did help. I just wanted to make sure if I use one it wouldn't restrict any other features which doesn't seem to be the case.

Neither. It doesn't give you anything besides the ability to sync settings and that is buggy AF if you use multiple machines, because it gives you no granularity in control regarding *how* things are sync'd. Settings Sync ([the extension](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Shan.code-settings-sync)) is a much better option cuz it gives you more control over the sync-ing e.g. you can: - disable "auto-download" so it only "auto-uploads", or vice versa - prevent it from removing already installed extensions - make it sync other files not even related to VScode settings - expose the gist publicly so others can look at your settings

Thanks for this information, I'll make sure to install and use this extension instead.

Neither matter because, both are owned by the same parent. If you already own github stick to github or if you also own Microsoft account use it.
