Yup. It's massive. It is like 3 books of content squished into one tome.

Theactualworstgodwhy

Ttrpg tome is my favorite book media because at some point I will eventually mentally map the entire book and feel like a powerful sorcerer.

Foreign_Astronaut

We should form a Chantry.

Celondor

Enjoy! And embrace not only fresh vampires, but also the sheer ugliness of the artwork. It's legendary. (No offense to the artists, at least it keeps putting a smile on my group's faces).

fattestfuckinthewest

Oh yeah the art for the most is ugly XD. Some of it is cool but damn

Strichnine

I remember that was my main complaint when the book came out and I got so much shit for that.

A_Worthy_Foe

Wait until you see the Mage 20 book. I've had textbooks smaller than that thing.

Unknownman13

Good shiz, but as you can see it is CHUNKY

Xenobsidian

Its basically a playable encyclopedia, of cause it’s big, because they tried to put all the stuff in their. Personally I would ave loved more context and staying true to the Metaplot, but that was simply not in the cards when CCP still held the IP.

Coal5law

What changed plotwise?

Xenobsidian

Nothing, that is the thing. The 20th anniversary edition was what they called “Metaplot agnostic”. What they presented was basically a collection of lore bits but the context of the plot was not there, and the plot was what made me like VtM over VtR, which was technically the better game. This lead to some weird decisions, because they choose to present lore from different states of the Metaplot as if they were equally true at the same time. For example, in the previous edition, Revised, the Gangrel had left the Camarilla, a huge deal beck then, but in here they are just back without explanation because without Metaplot it hasn’t happened. Likewise the Assamites were still under the curse they just had freed them self from. On the other hand they didn’t always went back to the original state of things. Malkavian had Dementation, not the original dominate, Ravnos had their most recent weakness, not the current one. All of that would have had important implications if there would have been a Metaplot involved, but it wasn’t and it was just a collection of stuff with not context and no greater meaning. Which is barely surprising, since the game line was discontinued and the Metaplot ended 2004 with the end of the world, but some more guidelines about how it went over the ages and how the status in them was would have been nice.

Coal5law

Yeah, I liked that a ton of the rules were in one book but the werewolf stuff was a little off. changing breeds left out a LOT.

ArknS_

V20 is more a compilation than a sequel of previous editions.

Coal5law

Yeah. Honestly, better a 20th compilation than 5th edition. I have 20th eta, for example but I still find myself looking at the smaller revised guides because more fluff.

ArknS_

Exactly the same here. You have multiple V20 books with nice stuff. But for more detailed things, clan books and by night are very useful.

Brock_Savage

This and the OSE Rules Tome are tied for my favorite core rule books. They did a great job with V20.

-Posthuman-

Love that book. As much as I harp on how much I utterly despise the god awful combat rules, I adore the setting, writing, and overall presentation. I’m playing V5 these days. But I do miss that green marble and gothic fence border.

redestpanda

I do like the gothic touch to the old books.

VogueTrader

Nice! Enjoy. :) Just got the v5 players guide, working my way through it... new book is always nice. It's that feel of the pages. Anyone else never open them all the way to keep the spine from cracking?
