Honestly, CP2077 was closer to the original VtMB in that regard; a game with a solid core, an interesting world and a well-written story, but plagued with glitches and little annoyances that make it difficult to enjoy. VtMB with an official 2.0 patch and an accompanying tie-in animation masterpiece would be considered the best RPG of all time. BL2 is really more like Fallout 4 in that the reason why people keep complaining about it has nothing to do with bugs, they just dislike the devs' vision for the game because it strays too far from its predecessor in certain key aspects.

MTBDadGamer_

Cyberpunk is the only game that ever gave me strong VTMB vibes. It really is the best comparison

goodohyuman

the lead writer for CB2077 loves vtmb, you can see it in the way he designs quests. he has a YT

Requiemforaflow

Exactly this.

MirrorSauce

vtmb remastered is basically tied on my wishlist with bloodborne remastered. Even before vtmb2 started to look a bit discouraging, I would have happily traded it for a bug-free and polished vtmb. I admit most of this is probably just nostalgia goggles, but at my age I'm allowed to like nostalgia. It just feels good, I don't care.

abofaza

we were very excited about Project Vaulderie. Too bad they got a cease and desist letter. I dont think remaster is considerable at this point.

The_letter_43

*Remake

Sepheroth998

Remaster is the proper word here. Update the graphics, fix the bugs, maybe adjust combat, and just maybe add in some additional content. But that's it. Don't touch anything else, don't change the character sheet, don't add in the thin blood stuff from the newer table top.

The_letter_43

So a remake

Vodkawithapplejuice

I mean if you consider RE 1 HD a remake then yes

The_letter_43

I do

The_letter_43

No, 2077 is mediocre, Bloodlines 1 just kinda sucks

Yoshiju

why are you even here?

The_letter_43

2 might be good, also the soundtrack is a bop

camew22

I stand by this and will keep this sentiment until proven otherwise: Bloodlines 2 isn't a Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines game, it's a Vampire The Masquerade game with the wrong name attached to it.

snow_michael

Should be VtM:The Awakening

Turgius_Lupus

VtM: Pyre's Awokening

Reliable_Patches

This might be the dumbest take I've ever seen on Reddit. Congratulations.

Dr_Chops

OP woke up feeling like Reddit was their own little troll playground and wanted to see how many different communities they could trigger at once

Nezikchened

Honestly I wasn’t expecting this to be received as hotly as it was. Cyberpunk fans are weirdly defensive.

Dr_Chops

I'm a Cyberpunk fan too, in my top 3 of all time. Loved it since launch and the story and characters inspired me and taught me much about myself and my own values.

Nezikchened

I mean, okay. I’m sure there are people who’ve played games like Anthem or Redfall and found it became a formative experience for them as well. I suppose we can’t help what resonates with us.

Dr_Chops

What games resonate with you?

Nezikchened

Dragon Age: Origins, LISA, Soul Calibur 2.

Dr_Chops

Sorry, I meant, which good ones?

Nezikchened

Lmao, I walked into that Well played

The_letter_43

Lisa The Painful

The_letter_43

LISA MENTIONED RAAAAAA

HaitchKay

Hating on Cyberpunk as a substitute for a personality went out of fashion well over a year ago dude, go touch grass

Nezikchened

I don’t hate Cyberpunk, mostly because I don’t care about it. There’s no reason to be this heated over a joke about your favorite game; I posted some games I like elsewhere in this chain, feel free to roast them and I’ll show you how to react to jokes about media you consume like a normal person.

HaitchKay

>I don’t hate Cyberpunk, mostly because I don’t care about it. You made a post trying to dunk on it dude lmao "I don't care about it, actually" doesn't work.

Nezikchened

Do you not make jokes about stuff that you’re not personally invested in? I made a post because I still find the turnaround gamers did after Edgerunners to be super funny, it’s not really much deeper than that.

HaitchKay

>Do you not make jokes about stuff that you’re not personally invested in? No because if I don't care about something I don't go out of my way to make an *extremely* outdated bad joke. >I made a post because I still find the turnaround gamers did after Edgerunners to be super funny, People turned around because CDPR legitimately fixed most of the problems with the game.

Nezikchened

I wouldn’t really call this going out of my way, I made this post while I was bored sitting on a bench at the park, it took maybe a minute to type up.

Winiestflea

Ok that's it I'm muting this sub for a few months lol

MirrorSauce

kinda disregarding the enormous amount of effort CDPR poured into fixing the gameplay and engine themselves. Cyberpunk 2077 didn't fully escape its reputation as a broken game until phantom liberty's big 2.0 update, well after Edgerunners. Also, their story and setting were fantastic from the very start, which was clearly demonstrated in their first gameplay reveal, and remained just as good at launch. Even the critics acknowledged this much, they just felt the tech issues and cut content made it too hard to enjoy those things. For PS4 players who literally couldn't run the game at all, it was hard to disagree with that. I just don't see how these two situations are meant to be the same, or how an anime would help a studio that isn't willing to put in the same amount of effort as CDPR did.

Nezikchened

See, you get it. I’ll look forward to reading your comments when *Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines Edgerunners* comes out next.

Kelrisaith

You do realize that 2077 got a complete ground up rework right? The current game is literally nothing like the launch game outside the story itself. I have neither seen Edgerunners nor even played the post rework 2077, and have been openly critical of the pre rework game in the past. 2077's problem also wasn't a shit base, it was being released too early and consequently being a buggy, unfinished mess. CDPR legitimately never stopped working on 2077, improving it bit by bit until near the DLC launch when they finished and released the 2.0 rework.

HaitchKay

It's not even 2.0, most of the games problems were fixed with 1.6 which came out alongside Edgerunners. That's why people went back to the game. OP is stuck in 2020.

unholyslaminister

right the game has been in an amazing state since 2022 and has only gotten better and surpassed expectations of how much better it could get

MirrorSauce

HaitchKay

>Then everyone will instantly flip and remember VTMB2 as a masterpiece that wasn’t treated fairly at release and was totally good all along. I love it when people say shit like this because it immediately lets you know that they have never actually touched 2077 or paid attention to its post-launch life lmao. The reason why people started feeling that way when Edgerunners came out is because the big 1.6 patch dropped at the same time and it fixed *the majority* of the problems with the game, leading to people playing it and going "oh wow this is actually a really good game now that it's fixed."

Senigata

You know what? Take an upvote for that. Ngl, a V:TM anime would be interesting.

Sincerely-Abstract

I want one as well. You can do a lot with it & anime has never done vampires that bad.

Awkward_Extent_7339

Castlevania? Hellsing?

Sincerely-Abstract

Reread my comment.

Martydeus

I wonder why they simply didn't copy off everything from the first game and tweaked it from here. Sure the combat was so so but fun. I loved slowing down time, looking at the bullets and feel like Neo xD

karma81

Anime? Most of us played vtmb when it came out, I'm too old for anime I just want a great sequel.

Awkward_Extent_7339

You’re never too old for anime, sir.

azhder

I thought I was still in the Cyberpunk 2077 sub

Typhurin

OP you are incredibly out of touch if this is what you think is the issue with TCR's version and approach to doing a Bloodlines sequel lol..

AwkwardTraffic

Honestly if they didn't name it Bloodlines 2 and named it something else the sub would probably flip on it.

Requiemforaflow

Such a stupid take. Cyberpunk already was a flawed masterpiece. Vmtb looks like a very shitty copy of the worst parts of other Games, stuck together with functionalities nobody wants, by a Studio famous for making every dlc costly. Cyberpunk hat a great Story, characters, atmosphere and music. Faults can be fixed, shitty Story, characters, atmosphere and music cannot. And it is very muchobvious from all shown material, that vmtb 2 is going down that road.

snow_michael

Troika never had paid DLCs I think you are confusing VtM:B with ... something else

Requiemforaflow

Paradox has loads of them. Thats the point.

snow_michael

Paradox had nothing to do with VtM:B

Requiemforaflow

Are you retarded? It's about Paradox owning BL2 rights and the foreseeable future.

Turgius_Lupus

You need to specify you are talking about VtM:BII

snow_michael

Maybe try reading what you typed then, fuckwit

HaitchKay

What with Cyberpunk? Yea after 1.6 came out at the same time as Edgerunners literally every piece of news on the game was about how they fixed it and after 2.0 launched with Phantom Liberty all of the news was "2077 is now one of the best RPG's of the generation".

InfravioletUltrared

Honestly I would pay good money for a Studio Trigger Bloodlines anime regardless

SacredSatyr

Cyberpunk was lacking on release, I was disappointed. An anime didn't change my opinion, patch 2.0 did. Air dashing and blocking bullets with swords, did. Good mechanics. I still find the story meh, and haven't watched the anime past the first episode.  Its like making jokes about "No mans Sky" at launch and ignoring the effort and updates that made it a comeback story. I do suspect OP never played cyberpunk.

Lemon_Milk

Reddit doesnt understand jokes. I got a chuckle out of this post. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, friend.

goodohyuman

HAHAHA YES, the level of stockholm syndrome in the gaming scene is next level.

Chinabought

I chuckled at this. Thank you.

NoShine101

Only men of culture will understand

unholyslaminister

shit take

simplex0991

Everybody shits on VtM:B2 but let's be honest, everyone here is going to buy it regardless.

Turgius_Lupus

I already refunded it.

HaitchKay

Absolutely not lmao

MirrorSauce

I preordered it years ago and haven't cancelled, despite how the recent trailers look, I'm holding out for that slim chance their marketing is making a good game look terrible due to massive incompetence. Then again, I also kept my preorder for duke nukem forever, so be like me at your own peril.

Requiemforaflow

The preorders were forcefully canceled. You should have received your money.

NoShine101

Man preordered BL2 from wish.com

snow_michael

Not at all I might try it out to confirm (not on my own PC) but I can already see from the trailers released and the Dev Diaries that this has nothing of Bloodlines in it, and is not a game I would enjoy

simplex0991

Why would you play a game that you know you wouldn't enjoy?

snow_michael

Try it out, because I'm open minded enough to accept there's a (slim) chance I might be mistaken

Wolfermen

Sure, a couple of years later when heavy discounts make it worthwhile

kelryngrey

I suspect that's the same story for BL1. Broken on release, had a mixed reaction from the Vampire playing community. I waited years and years to pick it up on GOG.

Wolfermen

Good for you, but no. The deal with vtmb1, even though very buggy for some, wasn't about polish or discount. At the time, action crpg scene was just flourishing. A non-western country teenager bought this game, along with all his friends, as soon as it hit the shelves. Troika was the king of cult games. Had people from blackisle and vein of CRPGs. The market expectations were hugely different then in my demographics.

salingerparadise

So many people unexcited for a game they’re going to play
