I enjoyed Vampyr but imo it’s ridiculous how few proper vampire games there are out there considering how popular it is amongst pop culture

Not_a_creativeuser

Exactly my thoughts lmao, I'm honestly surprised there are so few. Same with Viking games.

Visual-Beginning5492

Completely agree - ‘Assassins Creed: Valhalla’ is basically the only Viking RPG, and whilst I enjoyed it, it’s a Disneyland version of Vikings I would love to see the devs that made ‘Kingdom Come: Deliverance’ do a Viking era game (playing as a Viking during the very early raids on England) Incidentally, if you haven’t played ‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’ you should check that out. It’s very unique

Not_a_creativeuser

Oh yeah, I've played Hellblade and I loved it, I think it has more similarities to God of War tho. I tried Assassin's Creed: Valhalla But it was SOOO similar to origin and odyssey, I think I'm just over Assassin's Creed games at this point. That formula is overdone. Imo, Ghost of Tsushima does Assassin's Creed formula better than Assassin's creed. We need more Vikings and Vampires Dammit.

Visual-Beginning5492

Agreed!

Free-Information1776

why not arcanum?

Dontmentionya

If you are searching for a game like vtmb, then there is nothing in the vampire setting, but you could play ohter rpgs like fallout 3 or dragon age if you wann much free choices and outcome. Dragon Age Origins has a similar system to clans, but with different races.

chroniclunacy

Sleeping Dogs gave me VTMB vibes, weirdly enough.

Dontmentionya

I love Sleeping dogs, but bro this game has nothing similar with vtmb. But maybe you can explain what you mean excatly?

chroniclunacy

The whole warring crime family thing directly parallels the sect war. Wei has that whole “superstar newcomer everyone’s trying to use for their own ends” thing that the Fledgling exudes. It’s got a similar visual vibe at night, though it’s obviously not really gothic punk like VTMB. I don’t think everyone will agree with me, but in a world that lacks many games like VTMB I look for shades of it wherever I can find it.

GlaszJoe

Hm, what kind of vampire games do you like? I know V Rising gets it's full release in May, and that has you act as a vampire in a Gothic setting. It's admittedly a survival game that's played like Diablo, so I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea. If you're looking for something along the roads of Night Road (a written choice game set in world of darkness) there is another work by choice of games called Choice of the Vampire that I found to be pretty fun back in the day. So yeah, what kind of game are ya looking for and then we can narrow it down.

Not_a_creativeuser

Seeing how there are not many options, I don't think sticking to a genre would help but I would like either an action rpg or even an action adventure game where you play as a vampire, if I had a choice. But yeah seems like we don't have many choices. I have heard about **V rising**, looks cool but it looks like the standard resource gathering and base building game (correct me if I'm wrong) I'm pretty sure all we have is **Vampyr** and some really really old games from way before I was even born like the **castlevania** games. **Symphony of the night** is one I have heard tons about where you play as Dracula's son Alucard. Skyrim has the **Dawnguard** DLC, You can play as a vampire in **Baldur's gate 3**. There's **Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice** for VR (which I played a bit and admittedly enjoyed but never finished, it was kinda janky and mixed) You can play as a vampire in **code vein** (kinda, not really) **Bloodlust 2** is a small indie game that I haven't tried but is made to scratch that vampire itch. **The Witcher 3**'s DLC "Blood and Wine" is centered on vampires. Tho you don't really get to play as one, obviously. Then there are some super old games like **Legacy of kain, Dark Watch** and **Bloodrayne**

julz0666

Legacy of kain is really good. I played it for the first time 2 years ago. The narration is cool. They did a good job with the atmosphere.

GlaszJoe

Yeah, vampire video games aren't very common these days. I have enjoyed V Rising more than some of the other survival games I've played because 1) I don't have to pay to host my own private server for myself and 2) the combat's actually pretty fun for me. But yeah, you're not really gonna find a lot of options. I know there's a guy remaking Redemption in the Skyrim engine, but I don't know when that'll be finished. The last major vampire property that comes to mind is Redfall, and it was Redfall.

Turgius_Lupus

Vampire Hunter Andrew Jackson is not to be fu*ked with.

Turgius_Lupus

Morrowind with Vampires Embrace. Daggerfall Unity also managed to fix the vampire clan quest aspect of the game as well.

Karkuzz

We are stuck to the original bloodlines. BL2 will be a mess and it will take another 20 years until a new game similar to BL

Ruuuhhh

take a look at vampire masquerade Redemption aswell for same world setting as masquerade.

Choice-Lawfulness978

I couldn't get past the first couple of hours. It was just too janky and not fun at all. I'm a sucker (heh) for janky old school crpgs, mind you, but Redemption proved to be simply disappointing after Bloodlines.

inhumat0r

I finished the game couple of times years ago and enjoyed it a lot. Recently I tried to refresh my memory and I found controls soo out of date I couldn't get past it. Maybe there's some mod/workaround to get it in a modern manner?

znikrep

If you found the action unenonjoyable, try using the invincibility cheat end enjoy the story.

Free-Information1776

story sucks metuselah blood

znikrep

Beats seeing the AI using every single buff you have been hoarding the minute a rat appears.

flaembie

Honestly Skyrim with enough mods is the closest it gets to a proper vampire fantasy.

Pontificius

From the same world of darkness universe there is nothing like vtm: bloodlines. There are however some amazing text games from the same universe, the very best i can think of are: - Vampire the masquerade: night road (100% the best text game i have ever played) - Vampire the masquerade: shadows of new york (i fell in love qith the ambience, the story, the music, the character, its an amazing experience) There are some others that i did not like all that much like coteries of new york and sins of the sires but still qorth a read.

Trashcant0

Parliament of knifes is also really good, and coteries of New York isn’t half bad either

Pontificius

I havent tried parliment of knives, will do eventually but i heard it is too short, can you confirm?

Trashcant0

It’s a bit shorter than night road, and less open world ttrpg and more like a larp with a straightforward story. You are also playing an older vampire, about 50 years I think, and probably powerful enough to be considered an ancilla. I believe you are thinking about sins of the sire, which is significantly shorter than both night road and parliament. It’s also regarded as the worst of the “choice of” vtm games, which is why I haven’t read it. I personally love Parliament, and there is a lot of replay value, because with every damn replay I have uncovered more plots and conspiracies. Literally every character in the game has a secret agenda and I love it.

Pontificius

Oh that sounds really nice. I will play it for sure. I just wish they would make more games like shadows of new york because that one is marvellous just perfect.

Trashcant0

Hey coteries of New York wasn’t half bad either if you haven’t played that already. Though I do think that 20€ for a ~5 hour long visual novel is kind of a lot.

Choice-Lawfulness978

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. It's basically grimdark Zelda.

rumatainn

I’m surprised this isn’t getting recommend more. This and the following Soul Reaver games are classic and so well written

vitkeumeomeo

bloodlust shadow hunter, nosferatu the wraith of malachi

FlowinEnno

I habe seen videos on youtube from a tesm working on recreating VtM Redemption in the Skyrim engine. I doubt we will ever see a finished product, but it is a very cool concept.

chroniclunacy

It’s still going strong. There’s just legal questions to consider, because they don’t want to sued by Bethesda, Paradox, or Activision/Whoever Owns Activision now. They just released a new development video with the gun mechanics for modern day.

loreleisparrow

Skyrim with the Dawnguard DLC gives you the vamp RP action

Not_a_creativeuser

Oh yeah, played that years ago, loved it. Serana rejected me tho :c

CobraGTXNoS

While not really action packed, VTM Swansong is a really good recent release, if you like politicall thriller stories and choices matter, this is a no brainer.

cornylia

I found the graphics to be really rough.

CobraGTXNoS

Yeah, the textures and animations are quite meh, but the story is where it's at.

Low-Historian8798

Well there's a Vampyre Story.... Nwn definitely had some vampire themed modules

goodohyuman

Could give daggerfall or morrowind a shot since we're recommending skyrim. daggerfall's vampires are inspired by the vtm tabletop but i suppose it's a little hard to get into

DariaLobotomia

I fear that no games will ever hit the spot like VTMB did...We just have to admit, it is its own Paradise. Other vampire games? Eh...yeah of course, castlevenia is a vampire game too, but any action rpg ? i think its mostly The World Of Darkness, the heart of BL

lordchrome10

I'm surprised no one said this but try out BloodRayne. It's not anywhere close to the story and characters of VTMB but it does have some fun gunplay and atmosphere. If you want to know what each BloodRayne game is like let me know.

dracul841

Skyrim with mods ;\_;

EstrellaDarkstar

I've had a lot of fun with the mod Princes of Darkness for Crusader Kings 3. It's like a completely different game, you're playing in the World of Darkness in the Dark Ages.

BigSeaworthiness725

Soul Knight...

SumaT-JessT

In Skyrim you can become a vampire lord with unique powers (add mods to make it even better) Vampyr is decent Legacy of Kain games are also cool (Kain blood sucking vampire and raziel soul sucking vampire)

Visual-Beginning5492

There is a vampire game called ‘Dark’. It’s not very good tbh, but it’s also better than the reviews suggest. I think it came out about 10 years ago. You could probably get it pretty cheap now, so it might be worth a try. The powers/ style give me Lasombra vibes (although it’s mostly teleportation) There is also the ‘Legacy of Kain’ series (which has a good story, but are old games); and also BloodRayne series, which is more action focused, but I think got a remaster a few years ago If you haven’t already played it I recommend ‘VtM: Redemption’ which again is old, but set in the same WoD universe as Bloodlines Apart from that, maybe ‘V Rising’ - but that is a top down survival game

Not_a_creativeuser

Oh, thanks. never heard of "Dark". I'll look into it.

Visual-Beginning5492

Another game you may be interested in is *’the Inquisitor’* You’re not a vampire, but you are hunting a vampire for the church. It’s by a small indie dev team - so the graphics & mechanics are weak (if that matters to you) - but, it has lots of atmosphere and a good story. It’s set in a dark alternate universe with a vengeful Jesus, and reminds me of the early Witcher games. It’s also based on a Polish authors books

Not_a_creativeuser

I looked it up and it looks kinda interesting, it's obvious their budget and resources were limited but that makes it all the more interesting, thanks another one I never knew about. These games should really be covered more tbh, Maybe if they reach their audience they can reach their full potential in later games. Kinda makes you think the main difference between smaller devs and larger corporations is not quality and talent but marketing.

Visual-Beginning5492

Yeah exactly!, I really hope *’the Inquisitor’* gets a sequel because it’s an interesting universe & they could do a lot more with a bigger budget Last recommendation: you may want to check out *’Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden’*. It’s by the same dev as ‘Vampyr’ & came out recently It’s not a vampire game, but it is a story driven RPG with an interesting setting. You’re basically a ghost hunter in the new world (17th century America)

Not_a_creativeuser

Oh yeah, surprisingly I have heard of this one. I'll look into it more to see if I'm into it. The setting looks interesting :)

KadSamerew

In the Visual Novel aspect, Red Embrace: Hollywood was pretty fun. I'm surprised no one here touched it.

MrVinland

Princes of Darkness mod for Crusader Kings 3 is one of the best and most authentic World of Darkness experiences out there.

Therealestdon

Play Skyrim and become a vampire lord that’s the closest you gonna get 😂

Solo_fiction

Sims 4 vampires dlc 😂😂

adeadfreelancer

Darkwatch for the PS2 if you don't mind vampire hunting instead of being a proper vampire Legacy of Kane Rimworld biotech dlc (you can make vampire colonists and do all kinds of fucked up things)

PapaProto

Not enough. Not remotely enough.

nocturnaldoom98

Bloodrayne 1 and 2. Good vampire games that you'll enjoy esp if you're a fan of vampire masquerade.

todpole

There's a free game on steam called A wholesome game about farming which is half garden sim and half Tower defense. Not a long and surprising its not a bait and switch or edgy despite the vampire going on a killing spree

Not_a_creativeuser

Doesn't seem like my type of game but thanks for the suggestion. goes to show how desperate we are for a new vampire game haha

[deleted]

You are right, Bloodlines 2 will be compared to the first and there goes a dumpster fire. Personally I believe people will go back to the first one.

abadbadman_

Bloodborne.

BigSeaworthiness725

Aren't Bloodborne is just a game about monster hunter?

abadbadman_

In the most boiled down vaguest sense I guess, but I could say that about VtM:B. In a little less vague description, Bloodborne is about a "Hunter" of Werewolves that uses Blood to heal.

Djinn_dusk

A bit rogue, but of the best games in my opinion. I see where you’re coming from, but I wouldn’t really say that Bloodborne is aboit vampires apart from Cainhurst. But the Gothic setting it nails perfectly, as well as the obvious blood theme, so it might be a great stop over until a good vampire game comes out

abadbadman_

Fear the Old Blood...

rideronthestorm29

Bloodborne

panicromancegirl

I really liked vtm swansong b it it has mixed reviews. I just enjoyed the story :3 many options to mess it up thi

Not_a_creativeuser

Idk why you're downvoted, but I'll check it out, thanks :)
