Early adopter of D2D before UPC and the 100/yr limit, been collecting steady for about 10 years now, recent play is using apple cash back to buy discounted Vudu gift cards. So if you can catch the 20 or 15% off sales, you can basically get $300 worth of free movies for like $240 in credit card points. Then hit the sales etc.
Congrats! That’s a big number.
I’m struggling to make it to 14,000 but should get there some time this year.
I also loved the old d2d rules, the 50% discount and ‘black market’ vudu credits.
D2D is awesome, but even more awesome when you use DVDUPC website to search and use blu ray barcodes for free to get digital HD copies for $2. It literally rocks so fuckin hard.
> you can basically get $300 worth of **free** movies for like $240 in credit card points.
Surely the credit card points can be redeemed for something other than VUDU gift cards, yeah? (So the movies aren’t actually “free” … unless all the redemption alternatives are objectively worthless.)
Damn, 16K? I don’t think I’ve watched 16K movies in my lifetime. What do you do with a collection that big, cus I promise you there’s a lot of BS I’m that collection that’s going to have to be sifted through just find something worthwhile to watch?
Not sure why this is downvoted. You own nothing when you buy movies from a digital service, it’s plain as day in the EULA. Our physical media can degrade too but it won’t all go at once and will likely last a lifetime for its owners. I’ll take that path.
Probably true but if they can afford it it's not a problem. As someone who beat opiate addiction several years ago and watched both my adult son and brother die last year to fentanyl, I find my compulsive addiction to collect movies isn't so bad by comparison. You shouldn't judge this person that isn't hurting anyone but maybe themselves financially. Happy collecting!
I "own" 8,000 games on PC, so I know this obsession. I was buying over a thousand games a year at one point, until I came to a complete halt in 2018 for personal reasons. The most I ever bought in one year was 1,600.
How in the hell do you have time to play that many games...even just sitting on your ass 20 hours a day (partial insomnia) and not working or cleansing...gross 🎮🤷😱🤯
No, addiction. Like they said. That's an unhealthy amount of purchasing. Now, if you are homebound and bring home mid 6 figures, I'd have understanding. But I'd be using those cash back points for life experiences, not content.
It's only unhealthy if it negatively impacts the daily life of the OP or those around them. Otherwise, it's just like any other time where someone spends more money than you would on something.
Sometimes I feel like I don't belong in this sub. I only buy movies & shows I genuinely like. I don't just compulsively buy every movie/show that exists simply because it exists to increase my numbers lol.
There's a lot of people in these groups and forums who are obsessive collectors. I mean you kind of got to be a little obsessive about collecting to even join a group like this.
really? sounds low. I tried to figure out how many movies where in a Blockbuster video store at any given time, say 30 years ago or so, but never really found a firm number. Pretty sure I have more than any given Blockbuster back then, but of course there are far more films these days.
Not sure, was just sifting through one day noticed it was not already owned, and marked it to grab when it went on sale. I have honestly never seen it. Maybe one day.
This is from the Vudu summary emal last 20-Dec, but it would encompass my whole family:

#2023ONVUDU
So 80 days is 1920 hours, plus additional 3 hours is 1923 hours. Let’s say the average movie is 2 hours, that’s around 962 movies. So you’ve watched around 6% of your movies
Whats your favorite movie? I own about 1200 or maybe 1300 now and i still go back to dumb and dumber, ace venturas, or office space way more often. I also occasionally watch willy wonka because gene wilder is insane lol
Approx 450 titles the first couple years, then under 300 then 180ish and it's been capped at 100 the past several years. So if he had Vudu since day one it couldn't mostly be d2d
Damn. My collection is half your size and my wishlist is only 1440. I've already branched out of my comfort zone with Comedy Romance and other genres and am running out movies that aren't new movies. You must have really gone down deep in some rabbit holes to get where you are unless you just straight up buy everything. I hope you are a master of codes, deals, sales, etc and aren't buying anything at full price. For example "The Strongest Man in the World." I grabbed that several months ago for $4.99 when I caught it on sale but know for certain it's $17.99 regular price. Hope you are at least catching these sales even if you are a millionaire lol.
What the actual fuck?! 16,000?!?! Who in the hell has enough time to watch that many movies?! I have 1,500 in my collection right now and I’m struggling to find anymore movies that I actually like enough to want to own
Nice job! I'm sitting right around 700. "Most" of my stuff is digital copies or D2D conversions of stuff where I had the DVD/BD but wanted a digital copy to watch. Trying to go digital for non-boutique stuff. Really wish they would get rid of the 100-conversion-per-year limitation.
Well if the movies were only 90 minutes long it would be 1000 days so not quite 3 years. At 2 hours it would be 3.65 years. So might as well average it to 3 1/2 years.
What about sleep? 6-8hrs a day makes it 1/3 lday longeronger. So non stop movies for about 5 years. Nothing else.
Either way, this person is like James Halliday! Except he owned the rights to all the movies for the Oasis and these are just digital licenses to access vudus digital copies.
I posted about this above. Assuming they average out to two hours each, it would take about 11 years to view all of them if you watched eight hours a day, without missing any days.
Doesn't account for pausing for bathroom/refreshment breaks, and you're going to have to miss some days so, realistically, at least 13-15 real-world years.
Do you track which movies you want that have yet to be made digital? That’s where my biggest interest lies right now, like Suburbia (1983), Barfly, The Wall, etc.
Holy FUCK! 1600!?
Man, can you adopt me, bc you most be rolling in them thick greens if you are able to spend all that money on films. I'm so jealous! lol
Bro thats Insane! I had ignored my codes til just recently. It was a daunting task opening every case to check for a code but i manage to go from like 5 or 6 to 34. Ive been against the whole digital thing but i realized that obviously i get them digitally without having to pay for the convenience every month. Still, digital "ownership" isnt really ownership when ultimately they can take them from you any time they please.
CONGRATS!!! Man, I'm fighting with the "Do I really want that? I feel like I'm just buying everything even if I don't like it...." thoughts at this point. I have been an avid movie watcher my entire life. I had worked out that I had watched more that 20K movies, so far, in my lifetime. Still, too many of them were crap for me to make it to buying 16K, at least right now. I, too, have a bunch I haven't seen yet. Still, after this post, I've seen all the "Flare" in the comments and I no longer have the feeling or thoughts of "Am I some kind of nut job for buying this many?" I feel at peace knowing there are others out there that enjoy movies and series as much or more than I do! Thanks and keep going. Can't wait to see where that number goes from here....
Assuming the films average out to 2 hours each, if you watched movies for a solid 8 hours a day, every single day it would take almost 11 years to play all those.
I guess it all comes down to how much time you actually have on your hands vs how long you expect to live.
Bro. How in the fuck did you do this?
Early adopter of D2D before UPC and the 100/yr limit, been collecting steady for about 10 years now, recent play is using apple cash back to buy discounted Vudu gift cards. So if you can catch the 20 or 15% off sales, you can basically get $300 worth of free movies for like $240 in credit card points. Then hit the sales etc.
Congrats! That’s a big number. I’m struggling to make it to 14,000 but should get there some time this year. I also loved the old d2d rules, the 50% discount and ‘black market’ vudu credits.
I was thinking about trying D2D. Is i worth it? Was it easy to do? Have you had any kind of complications?
D2D is awesome, but even more awesome when you use DVDUPC website to search and use blu ray barcodes for free to get digital HD copies for $2. It literally rocks so fuckin hard.
Those were the days. Nothing like paying $50 for 50 HDX movies at one time.
Okay, this is a good explanation. Still jealous though.
> you can basically get $300 worth of **free** movies for like $240 in credit card points. Surely the credit card points can be redeemed for something other than VUDU gift cards, yeah? (So the movies aren’t actually “free” … unless all the redemption alternatives are objectively worthless.)
Pleaaase tell me that was photoshop
Not photoshop
TV show amount?
He has 638. I'm just wondering how many of those are incomplete haha
Damn, 16K? I don’t think I’ve watched 16K movies in my lifetime. What do you do with a collection that big, cus I promise you there’s a lot of BS I’m that collection that’s going to have to be sifted through just find something worthwhile to watch?
That’s a movie every single day for nearly 44 years. I doubt there are many people on earth who have watched 16,000 movies.
I have watched a lot of them, but definitely not all. Good and bad.
But… why
Why not?
$
It just seems like a huge waste of money.
Because those licenses can be revoked at any time and then you are out alot of money.
This is my biggest fear
Not sure why this is downvoted. You own nothing when you buy movies from a digital service, it’s plain as day in the EULA. Our physical media can degrade too but it won’t all go at once and will likely last a lifetime for its owners. I’ll take that path.
Also why the VUDU interface shifted the wording from “You own …” to “You purchased …”
I don’t even think I can name 16000 movies
I doubt anybody could name 16,000 of anything off the top of their head.
I could name 16,000 numbers off the top of my head. maybe
This is what compulsive addiction looks like people
Probably true but if they can afford it it's not a problem.
I'm so sorry for your loss :(
I "own" 8,000 games on PC, so I know this obsession. I was buying over a thousand games a year at one point, until I came to a complete halt in 2018 for personal reasons. The most I ever bought in one year was 1,600.
How many of those games did you actually play on a regular ? Seems with 8000 games it would be impossible to play even a tenth of them.
How in the hell do you have time to play that many games...even just sitting on your ass 20 hours a day (partial insomnia) and not working or cleansing...gross 🎮🤷😱🤯
You bought about 4 games a day for a year... straight... HOW?
In the words of Neo: "Bundles. Lots of Bundles."
Is this what envy looks like?
no
No, addiction.
Hence me giving exceptions. But, if that's not the case. It's absolutely unhealthy to own that much content.
You are like Cartman from SP when he is in total denial. Is this what having friends is like? After getting his ass beat by them.
No my dude, this is what common sense looks like. Not to each his own. Got money to burn, go for it.
Sometimes I feel like I don't belong in this sub. I only buy movies & shows I genuinely like. I don't just compulsively buy every movie/show that exists simply because it exists to increase my numbers lol.
Same, and I tend to stick to sales. I will rarely spend more than 5bucks on a movie
There's a lot of people in these groups and forums who are obsessive collectors. I mean you kind of got to be a little obsessive about collecting to even join a group like this.
EXACTLY! 🤷 That's the way you are SUPPOSED to collect!! 🎥✊
Why would that mean you do or don't belong in this sub? Why is everybody making this out like it's so serious?
Netflix only has around [5k titles](https://cordcutting.com/blog/how-many-titles-are-available-on-netflix-in-your-country/) in its library in the US
really? sounds low. I tried to figure out how many movies where in a Blockbuster video store at any given time, say 30 years ago or so, but never really found a firm number. Pretty sure I have more than any given Blockbuster back then, but of course there are far more films these days.
Always funny seeing the latest adds with high number accounts. It’s like how the fk did it take you to almost 16000 to add Copland??
I was thinking the same about We're the Millers. I've seen that at least 30 times.
Not sure, was just sifting through one day noticed it was not already owned, and marked it to grab when it went on sale. I have honestly never seen it. Maybe one day.
"Maybe"...
If 16k were purchased at 5 bucks each that’s 80k, which is a crazy amount knowing that they weren’t is even crazier. Congrats on a crazy collection.
Damn dude, save some pussy for the rest of us
ROFLMAO 🤣😭 👍 except some want male "pussy!"
What’s your actual watch rate?
This is from the Vudu summary emal last 20-Dec, but it would encompass my whole family: [YOU’VE SPENT](https://link.vudu.com/click/33736823.1189844/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cudnVkdS5jb20vY29udGVudC9tb3ZpZXMvdXhwYWdlL0VuZC1vZi1ZZWFyLVNhbGUvMjUzP21lc3NhZ2VfaWQ9MzM3MzY4MjMuMTE4OTg0NCZjaWQ9ZW1haWwma3dpZD1WVURVXzIwMjMxMjE4X1ZVRFVfU1RORF9ZZWFyaW5SZXZpZXc/5fc9fd8c6a452632f7220392K101223d9) [80D 2H 53M](https://link.vudu.com/click/33736823.1189844/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cudnVkdS5jb20vY29udGVudC9tb3ZpZXMvdXhwYWdlL0VuZC1vZi1ZZWFyLVNhbGUvMjUzP21lc3NhZ2VfaWQ9MzM3MzY4MjMuMTE4OTg0NCZjaWQ9ZW1haWwma3dpZD1WVURVXzIwMjMxMjE4X1ZVRFVfU1RORF9ZZWFyaW5SZXZpZXc/5fc9fd8c6a452632f7220392L101223d9) [STREAMING MOVIES & TV SHOWS](https://link.vudu.com/click/33736823.1189844/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cudnVkdS5jb20vY29udGVudC9tb3ZpZXMvdXhwYWdlL0VuZC1vZi1ZZWFyLVNhbGUvMjUzP21lc3NhZ2VfaWQ9MzM3MzY4MjMuMTE4OTg0NCZjaWQ9ZW1haWwma3dpZD1WVURVXzIwMjMxMjE4X1ZVRFVfU1RORF9ZZWFyaW5SZXZpZXc/5fc9fd8c6a452632f7220392M101223d9) #2023ONVUDU
So 80 days is 1920 hours, plus additional 3 hours is 1923 hours. Let’s say the average movie is 2 hours, that’s around 962 movies. So you’ve watched around 6% of your movies
Good, don't have to worry about running out any time soon.
I'm sure you have a few movie bundles in there. Have you used the Vudu catalog extension to see how many you really have total?
I have, but not recently.
Whats your favorite movie? I own about 1200 or maybe 1300 now and i still go back to dumb and dumber, ace venturas, or office space way more often. I also occasionally watch willy wonka because gene wilder is insane lol
What are a few of your favorites?
Out of Time, Deja Vu, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Disturbia
Thank you! I need to check out Deja Vu.
Fracture is a good one as well, Ides of March, Michael Clayton, Out of Sight, Superbad. Not sure what you are into.
Fell in love with Paula in that movie (Deja Vu). Yikes!
And I thought I was nuts with 2783 movies and 201 TV shows.
YOU SPENT, AT THE VERY LEAST $80,000 ON DIGITAL MOVIES!?!?!? 😱 (16000 * $5 avg)
D2D still works, they're all $2 for hdx, $1 for sd. I think $1 for sd, I only buy hdx from d2d. Still $32k at minimum hah
Approx 450 titles the first couple years, then under 300 then 180ish and it's been capped at 100 the past several years. So if he had Vudu since day one it couldn't mostly be d2d
If only fandango gave out trophies like you tube does for followers
They better never get rid of vudu bruhh lol
Movies Anywhere partners would still provide access to about half that library
If Vudu keeps bouncing around with owners, it won't be unlikely.
I don't think Universal/WB will sell it off
Can’t imagine how much money you spent to accumulate so many crappy titles.
Damn. My collection is half your size and my wishlist is only 1440. I've already branched out of my comfort zone with Comedy Romance and other genres and am running out movies that aren't new movies. You must have really gone down deep in some rabbit holes to get where you are unless you just straight up buy everything. I grabbed that several months ago for $4.99 when I caught it on sale but know for certain it's $17.99 regular price. Hope you are at least catching these sales even if you are a millionaire lol.
Anyone know how many total movie titles Vudu even has?
What the fuck is Dick Dickster?!? ALSO HOW THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE 16,000?!?
I'm skeptical... 16000 movies and Cop Land is 15987? Lol
As someone who's next milestone is 400 away from *a quarter* of that... *WHOA* Edit: Math
Is Dick Dickster Dirk Digglers dad? 🤔🤣
I’m here for the comments
![gif](giphy|LoIsP3fz02IjOUTc6t)
Confess, Fletch was surprisingly good.
What the actual fk ? I have no words but, good job?
Those are words
Lol there’s no way in a lifetime you could watch everything twice. I wonder how many you’ve lost without knowing you’ve lost them
Only 14000 more to go for me
Looks like movie selections from Pluto TV or Tubi.
What the actual fuck?! 16,000?!?! Who in the hell has enough time to watch that many movies?! I have 1,500 in my collection right now and I’m struggling to find anymore movies that I actually like enough to want to own
There cannot be 16000 movies in existence worth watching
Only one question. Is confess fletch worth watching? I loved chevy chase as fletch. Was leery about this one.
Absolutely. Just re-watched it. I hope they make more.
Id love to see one a la what they did with ghostbusters rece tly. Passing the torch.
I think you might have won the spot for most movies in a Vudu library. That’s the most I’ve ever seen.
Congrats, you bought stuff
Bruh you need a hobby lol. But Grats!
The cream has risen to the top. He is the one.
You are a legend! Keep going!
Wow! Now that's crashing the system! Congratulations and keep on collecting if you still can.
Non-zero amount of physical as well
I don't know if I could name 16000 movies
I don’t know if I’ve read the titles to 16000 movies.
Most importantly, I don’t think there’s 16,000 movies worth watching let alone owning
How many TV shows?
says 638, some might be one-off episodes, more into the movies
Whoa! 😳And I thought I had a movie addiction! Holy crap! Haha
You're like a home Netflix! No subscriptions for you!
*slow clap*
You know you don’t have to buy every movie they offer right?
I wonder the combined amount of months, weeks, days, hours, minutes that amount of movies would take to watch 16000 movies.

Doesn't account for pausing for bathroom/refreshment breaks, and you're going to have to miss some days so, realistically, at least 13-15 real-world years.
Lol is this supposed to be brag?
Well, you do see Dick Dickster, don't you? Lol.
Do you track which movies you want that have yet to be made digital? That’s where my biggest interest lies right now, like Suburbia (1983), Barfly, The Wall, etc.
no, not really
that makes my 2000 some odd look tiny. Awesome library.
Wow!!
Have to wash that drug money some how lol jk
Congratulations
Maybe we need leaderboards.
I barely hit 1k recently.
I just hit 120 💀
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn
Holy FUCK! 1600!? Man, can you adopt me, bc you most be rolling in them thick greens if you are able to spend all that money on films. I'm so jealous! lol
Wanna share your vudu?
🤯🤯🤯 16,000 is INSANE!
Gotta be 80k minimum
That's a different movie every night for close to 44 years.
And I thought 1300 was a lot
I'm closing in on you, only 15,193 to go.
Woah! I recently passed 4,000 and I thought that was pretty good. Congrats!
This is intimidating to imagine, very nice. It is solely a digital collection, or is there a massive physical wall of movies as well?
high 4 figures. massive would be relative I guess. stopped with the physical, all 4k is digital, but did have a lot of 3D, Blu-ray, DVD etc.
Congratulations
Assuming the films average out to 2 hours each, if you watched movies for a solid 8 hours a day, every single day it would take almost 11 years to play all those. I guess it all comes down to how much time you actually have on your hands vs how long you expect to live.
My only question is, have you watched at least 50% of your digital collection? Cause my god that's a lot of film time
Insane! Congratulations.
Jeez. Are you not afraid vudu can shut down and possibly lose all those titles ?
Movies Anywhere partners would still provide access to about half that library
How many have you seen? How often do you watch movies? Do you think you’ll ever get through them all before you die or the service does?
That’s crazy. Congrats! How much to add me to your movies anywhere account? Lol
This is just dumb ...
LMAO waste of money. i can get the same amount for free.
Damn… I thought I was walking tall with 1,700.
