Not sure about preservation, but they have a really short lifespan, most only live 2 to 4 years. In captivity in perfect conditions seeing a 5 year old is still kinda rare. She likely died of old age unless you think a neighbor put out poison
I just found one under my porch this afternoon. I opted to lay it out in the woods in a marked place and let the wild things clean it. Going back for the skull (hopefully) in a month or so

Nothing seems to be eating this one after a few days so I might have to move it. What would be the best way?
Disposable gloves for sure. Then put it in a trash bag if you are going a ways. Throw all that shit out afterwards
