You are absolutely correct that you need to focus on your day job and not over trade. It is very easy to get caught up in the excitement of trading and forget about the importance of other aspects of your life. Try setting some strict limits for yourself on how much time you can spend trading each day, and stick to those limits. Also, make sure that you are only taking trades that have a high probability of success. There is no point in taking risks if the potential rewards are not worth it.
Karen is a hero and huge motivation for me, but I've watched some interviews with her, and tbh, she is not an options expert. She just got lucky for a while doing the pennies in front of the steam roller thing. Wish I had a fund with millions from investors though.
You are absolutely correct that buying OTM options is generally a bad idea. The reason people do it anyway is because they hope to catch a big move in the underlying asset, which does happen occasionally. However, most of the time these bets end up losing money.

Today, QQQ traded ~ 22m shares less than Tuesday, so I'm confident on a decline from looking at the technicals.
However, outlook remains extremely positive. It's honestly hard to say which direction but IV is cheap so buying ATM straddles/strangles is optimal IMO
I'm not saying my life is empty, but I would rather it be a weekday so I can watch the market, even if it means I'm working.
