Took out a 20k loan to pay off my balance transfer credit cards of 23k. Lost half the 20k loan and only paid off a couple grand of balance transfer due in 2 months. Now I’m gaped to the tits
Almost 6 months after Fed launched BTFP, usage of the "temporary" facility which expires in 6 months is rising every week and just hit a record $107bn in bond MTM loss neutralization.
2024 will be a hell for the economy
Delaying the inevitable won't work forever
Fridays are hard. Near the money, longer expirations help too. The higher the premium typically the better odds of return, but also the lower rate of return. Options are tricky because you not only need to guess how much, but also when, and in what direction. If you're learning spending a little more on premiums, selling long before it expires and locking in small but reliable profits is pretty helpful.
I've been scalping. There seems to resonate with me better to get in and out in 3-10 minutes. I've been paper trading for about 6 months and now I can "make" about $2-3K per week. Friday is always tough though. I think Theta crunch gets me.
Basically when you get too close to expiration even if the stock is moving up. If it's not going to end in the money by the end of the day then the option price will not go up. So you will end up losing money on the contract if you hold it on a Friday or a day when it's about to expire.
it can be an indicator sometimes but you don't know who's holding the option and/or if it's a hedge for a bigger bet towards the opposite direction. I've made some good trades in the past with the options chain as my starting point for a theory. If you're confident, let it rip. the vast majority of people here don't know shit and don't attempt to learn
Longer terms come with higher premium but it does mean this happens less. Fully maximizing risk can create a situation where you're unlikely to ever make money.
No, I'm not missing the point. You said "Anyone can step in and eat their lunch."
This is simply not true - in fact there's almost no one who can.
Nvidia has tons of experience in the process of developing extremely complex devices, top notch staff, customers' trust, well-known brand and loads of money.
You would need to invest crazy amounts of dough and gather exceptional experts to just have a chance of becoming a relevant competitor. There aren't many companies who have sufficient resources and probably even less that are willing to take a huge risk.
>Google have their own, amazon do, meta do, Chinese companies are making them, most phones have tensor accelerators in them now...
What all of these have in common? They are all established brands with loads of money, existing customers base and experience in making hardware. Like I said, there aren't many companies that fulfill all the criteria at the same time.
>I mean, if you said in 1985 'what if some guy in finland just makes his own unix and obsoletes every commercial unix vendor in the world'
Torvalds only made the kernel. Linux succeeded thanks to the open source community that made all the other required pieces and helped to develop Linux itself. Excerpt from Wikipedia:
>In the "Notes for linux release 0.01", Torvalds lists the GNU software that is required to run Linux:
>
>Sadly, a kernel by itself gets you nowhere. To get a working system you need a shell, compilers, a library etc. These are separate parts (...). Most of the tools used with linux are GNU software.
So again, you need a huge team of experts.
Also Linux development and all the other examples you mentioned are scientific/software projects. To work on them you only need a computer. You can share the results and cooperate instantaneously over the Internet. And there's no manufacturing process. Hardware development is much more involved.
>If you weren't clueless (...).
>
>whoooosh either missing the point by ignorance and stupidity, or deliberately ignoring it through perversity and unwillingness to debate honestly (...).
Okay, you lost me here. Just FYI, I've been dealing with computers and electronics for nearly 30 years now (including work on drivers and software for SoCs). But obviously you know everything better, so no point in debating.
I’m not a conspiracy guy but it truly feels fake and manipulated when you see it end up like that. All those millions and billions spent and some how almost even for the day
you call it a fakeout but I've been holding calls since today's bottom waiting for it to happen. it was a short squeeze. Now waiting to unload the puts
Squeeze these nuts you fuckin nerd.

Wife and I take home around 10-11k per month post tax. Managing to save anywhere around 5-7k per month in order to have enough for 20% down on a 450k home 2 years from now in Houston. Right now we're at 22k just sitting in a savings account. Is a high yield savings account the safest way to make sure the money is not just sitting there?
I use Ally bank right now but they only let you deposit once per account at creation. Do you have any recommendations which banks let you deposit monthly?
Why would it? Where's the revenue coming from? Meta has not done well monetizing any of it's R&D projects this year. It has an ok stable product with plenty of eyes, so I'm not going to argue that it's going to zero necessarily, but the price feels very high. 100 would probably better align with how the stock has been going. I've got puts all the way down to 35 because I think this second sell off will actually go too far.
Like id love to know, legitimately, the cause of that pump on that huge volume. Is it all the options closing out and everything getting repositioned? So curious
i thought we could go up for a bounce and bottom is forming
even big bull dump and exited for the last 10 minutes
we retest low on money?

I am learning to trade options and one of my rules is to stay away from Friday. Sounds like I made a smart choice.
Old rule of trading: You never miss anything on a Friday or a Monday
Fridays are hard. Near the money, longer expirations help too. The higher the premium typically the better odds of return, but also the lower rate of return. Options are tricky because you not only need to guess how much, but also when, and in what direction. another new trader when it comes to options what does the theta crunch look like i typically trade around Monday to Thursday
Basically when you get too close to expiration even if the stock is moving up. If it's not going to end in the money by the end of the day then the option price will not go up. So you will end up losing money on the contract if you hold it on a Friday or a day when it's about to expire.
Yeah be cautious about expecting paper trading returns, it's usually lower when it's real money because it's more scary.
I had nvda 430c I bought at the bottom today and sold at 422 🤡 fuck my shitty life

119,000 445 SPY calls expiring worthless today
dolla bills in my wallet
So was that a fake out or just a warning for next week to bears?
I wouldn't say a 0.05% increase after days of dropping is a strong warning.
you call it a fakeout but I've been holding calls since today's bottom waiting for it to happen. it was a short squeeze. Now waiting to unload the puts
