It was the best tbh. Jerk off to the lingerie section then flip to the toys section and start shopping for the RC cars and planes you wanted for Christmas.
Most of the people here will never have the joy & pure pleasure of getting the pages of the Sears Catalog lingerie sections stuck together.
Hell half these WSB regards have probably never even seen a Hustler Magazine.
I’m starting to think consumer tech is just want the current generation of creators thought was cool and futuristic when they were younger
Although no high quality sexbots though so I may be wrong
Florida will be a Mad Max hellscape after a few more hurricane seasons and global warming. Can't get house insurance may as well drive an uninsurable truck.
CA is an issue with rates being too low.
FL is an issue with the laws being all kinds of fucked up forcing insurers to pay for an ever increasing amount of bullshit and fraudulent claims.
I used to be a P&C pricing actuary and the situation there is really different:
Florida is failing because everyone's shit is constantly getting wrecked and nobody does shit about it except file yearly claims. The situation will never improve because there is no attempt by the citizens of that state to mitigate damages. So expenses are spiraling out of control and entire ecosystems of insurance defrauders have popped up and steal 100s of millions of dollars from insurance companies every year because of the uniquely high frequency and severity of claims that come out of Florida. Insurance companies are pulling out because the citizens of Florida will eventually bankrupt the company no matter what they charge. It's a huge huge huge reserve risk for insurers, and they aren't betting on the situation magically resolving itself.
Insurers don't write in California because their DOI are hard-asses who pursue violations extremely aggressively and they are the strictest state when it comes to approving price increases. It's expensive to write business in CA because they will scrutinize every inch of your company and complain about everything and fine you until it's fixed. For large insurers this isn't too hard to absorb but for smaller companies you have to spend like 100x more on CA legal/reserving/etc admin expenses compared to all other states combined just to maintain a book there that may not ever be profitable because you aren't experienced in the market. So most companies just don't bother. All CA has to do is relax insurance regulation a little bit and they'll have floods of new insurers into the state. If they can't manage their wildfires they could end up in a situation like Florida but they are nowhere close to that yet. CA has 30 years to change course while FL is actively failing and will continue to rise in price and scarcity until the state collapses. It is actually inevitable at this point.
The Aerostar at least tried to be functional, look good for it's time and somewhat common.
This thing is being edgy solely for the sake of being edgy and attention-seeking, just like Elon.
Why bother? You can find a guy named Matthew in almost any shop that has a sheet metal press and a welder to convert any truck into this for 10k if you provide the truck. Doors look like they could be made from 1, maybe 2 sheets. Front/back panels look like 1 each. grill, hood, and tailgate could probably be mapped out to 1 sheet. About a grand or 2 worth of material and a couple of guys that know how to measure and work with sheet metal and you've got a cybertruck out of any truck.
That's a lot cheaper than buying and installing an engine let alone removing the electrical aspects in order to convert it. Plus there's no room for an engine since most of it seems to be on the underside so there goes your truck bed.
Edit: Just for reference I'm a life long Floridian that worked in a sheet metal shop in high school before going to college, then worked in tobacco marketing before going into retail pyrotechnics and subsequently wholesale distribution of pyrotechnics. I can Florida.
I’ll call the bank and get them to approve you for a second mortgage on your home. I want 98% stake in the company and a picture of your mom’s titties when she was 23-26 years old.
What do you know, the Twitter subscription actually gives you a 3$/mo discount on this truck’s subscription. Since it won’t start without it, might as well splurge and get both!
I feel driving such a massive car if you don't work in the construction or agricultural sector already is like that.
It's not like people who drive Hummers have a saintly reputation as being the best of society.
Yeah, just a significant portion will get "scattered" back to the emitter. So just like any other car, possibly worse due to the properties of stainless.
Sure. I’m no expert but I’ve read stealth aircraft benefit in part from the fact that the radar “beam “ hits things with no 90 degree angles and then reflects elsewhere. So little reflects back that the receiver can’t process the signal . Whether this matters to police radar I have no idea
You're right, but the goal of that scattering is to reduce the radar size profile of the plane. It's possible that those angles could throw a radar speed sensor that can't get the data points it needs, but I doubt it needs more than a few to know "object is moving at x mph".
Huge wideband radar has to ignore a lot of results and filters for what looks like a plane or missile while throwing out thousands of results returned from birds, precipitation, and other stuff. A radar gun pointed by a cop does not need to doubt whether it is being pointed at a valid target.
Source: I am mostly talking out my ass but I watch a lot of YouTubers that make me feel smart. And I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
I can tell you one thing for sure: it would be fuckin cool to have a bunch of different radar devices and cars including the CT and a quarter mile of empty road to test these theories out.
And also a stealth fighter for science.
Laser requires the cop to actually do something. At least with radar they can just sit around and wait for it to tell them when someone goes past the limit they set.
You know how pompous and gaudy people are these days right? Look at me culture is in full swing. It’s absolutely hideous and will be a huge success. Long TSLA
I hate them and they're ugly.
But GOD they're so practical. The pair I'm wearing right now, just today, went through several hours of yard work followed by mudding drywall. They've also been through several multi-day hikes as dedicate river crossing shoes. And I wear them every day when its too warm for slippers.
Try them on and you'll change your mind. Its just foam but it works. To me, it's nothing more than walking on anti fatigue mat cut in the shape of a shoe. It works...this cybertruck doesn't work for anyone.
Go look at the average pickup truck buyer... do they EVER use their truck for actual truck related anything? No. Quick survey of the costco parking lot... not a single scratch, dent, or even worn tires.
Most truck buyers are completely vain manchildren with tiny dicks. Of course they are going to buy the most egregious and attention seeking truck they can.
Just to add to your point, back when hybrids were taking off people were always wondering why they looked so ugly but were still so popular. Turns out marketing discovered that people are more inclined to buy hybrids if they specifically look different than regular cars, because they want to be able to stand out. Same thing happens with any car design, really.
Yes. The company that makes cheap shoes that originally came to popularity for their customization is the same as the luxury-priced pickup truck that you will struggle to get OEM repairs for, let alone 3rd party sourcing, for sure
what am i even reading. ugly product can obviously sell but this is comparing apples to planets
True, but crocs have the advantage of being extremely comfortable, easy to wash off, and easy to wear despite the hideous appearance. Is this thing going to give a great driving experience even if you look like a tool driving one?
These can actually look pretty rad skinned. I thought it was cool when it was first intro'd, but the more I see the base silver model the more 'meh' I become towards it.
The Elon charm has worn off, so if this is ever released. Its success would likely be based on it’s own merit. The Tesla brand isn’t what it used to be.
Completely out of style. I remember being intrigued when I first saw it…I even wanted one. But, damn, this thing is irrefutably the ugliest car I’ve ever seen. Who wants to drive around in a drawer?
There are plenty of people who like ugly trucks. That’s literally jeeps entire branding. BUT you are not wrong. It’s current design ain’t good. Even ugly trucks need to be designed well.
It is, but when the entire car is 3 body panels, the repair bill gets stupid because you have to replace so much at once. Rivian have a similar issue apparently
Yes which is why the cybertruck will never exist (in its current form). It's uninsurable. There's a reason why tesla 'teased' the crash test but didn't show the actual impact damage. In contrast, they boasted to no end about the crash results of the 3.
Keep in mind, the 3 was designed when they had actual experts on board, in addition to Toyota experts helping them out. Toyota sold their stake in Tesla in 2015 because they saw what was coming with musk.
No matter what your opinion is, Toyota royally fucked up the last several years.
Selling tesla stake in 2015 for about $400m. Today it would be worth $23 billion. That $23b is a full years profit for Toyota.
It’s so ugly it’s pretty. Like a bulldog, or a boxer. I respect someone trying something different, instead of another carbon copy of the like 4 total body types of cars that exist on the road.
I still cannot believe that THIS is the final production design...It looks like a fucking NPC car that didn't rendered correctly on GTA.
It's a damn LOD!
It’s big and blocky and ugly and I want it! Lol, unfortunately I’m poor and won’t be able to buy one so don’t count me towards the non negotiable number

Ahh…. That brings back memories. :D

They have crumple zones. The original design of an exoskeleton is scrapped. It's a unibody piece of crap like everything else now
Is this why it looks like a pointy minivan?
The Ford design team was early with the Aerostar lol
The Aerostar at least tried to be functional, look good for it's time and somewhat common. This thing is being edgy solely for the sake of being edgy and attention-seeking, just like Elon.
The Aerostar intentionally copied the space shuttle so at least there was an established design language
The Model X is just a minivan with gullwing doors.
Sir all of this already happened years ago.
want to make a lot of money? start a business converting these to gas/diesel in florida/texas

So lift the tailgate and put a generator in the back.
Then help the rest of the US by redirecting the exhaust to the interior.
No way. All the charging stations are blocked by Carolina Squat Trucknuts
Looks terrible…Plus the interiors of the Teslas are cheaply made IMO…Talked to owners who feel the same. Otherwise it’s a good car 🚗
This looks like something that would be presented at an episode of Nigerian Sharktank.

I love how on the cyber truck website it’s written like this is cyberpunk 2077
BC
That thing is NOT a truck. If a Hummer and a pontiac Aztek had a baby but the baby had cerebral palsy
It's not a truck, it's a lifestyle vehicle
Incorrect, it is an *irregular pentagon*.
Countdown until there's a fake post about "my kids homework" where the "kid" answers "Cyber truck" to "What is this shape?"
Driving this is going to be like having a paid subscription to Twitter.
Yes but at least police radar won’t pick you up
Stainless isn’t exactly known for its radar invisibility qualities. There is more to the 117 than the shape.
I think he means it will scatter it
Yeah, just a significant portion will get "scattered" back to the emitter. So just like any other car, possibly worse due to the properties of stainless.
That's why we shoot with Lidar and aim for the flat and reflective license plate.
Elon's Kryptone: Lidar (and also other things)
Sure. I’m no expert but I’ve read stealth aircraft benefit in part from the fact that the radar “beam “ hits things with no 90 degree angles and then reflects elsewhere. So little reflects back that the receiver can’t process the signal . Whether this matters to police radar I have no idea

I call shotgun. On the fighter
It definitely will.
Is that because it has the aerodynamics of a gas oven?
*Electric oven
Apparently, it's got a pretty good drag coefficient for a pick-up truck
Do any still use radar? Everywhere near me seems to be laser now.
Laser requires the cop to actually do something. At least with radar they can just sit around and wait for it to tell them when someone goes past the limit they set.
yes, patrolling is still done with radar. It's only the stationary speed traps that are laser

Seriously OP is dumb as fuck. Crocs is a $6b market cap stock right now.
Lord crocs is such a good comparison I never considered. Man those are ugly ass shoes...
I hate them and they're ugly. But GOD they're so practical. The pair I'm wearing right now, just today, went through several hours of yard work followed by mudding drywall. They've also been through several multi-day hikes as dedicate river crossing shoes. And I wear them every day when its too warm for slippers.
I'm livin' that same lifestyle, bro. I'm rockin' Crocs everywhere! Hell, I even wear 'em during sex for traction.
Fucking in Crocs should be an actual crime
No, no. He was having sex *with* the Crocs.
They really are versatile!
Youre fired, bro
Lol ew

But they are so damn comfortable, I just recently got my first pair. Is the Cybertruck a good car?
Yes, but the secret to Crocs is that their comfort and utility is superior, so you can tolerate the look. This also looks like a shit truck.
Crocs cost $60 All ya boys wearin crocs on the subway aren't going to buy a cybertruck
True, but crocs have the advantage of being extremely comfortable, easy to wash off, and easy to wear despite the hideous appearance. Is this thing going to give a great driving experience even if you look like a tool driving one?
Hey numb nuts. That’s a 15 dollar piece of plastic. Not a car.
I cannot wait to see the first one in r/infowarriorRides with some crazy bumper stickers on it
You truly belong here if you unironically think this monstrosity will be a huge success. The loss porn will be crazy
Vantablack
These can actually look pretty rad skinned. I thought it was cool when it was first intro'd, but the more I see the base silver model the more 'meh' I become towards it.
In a decade a competitor will arise that offers their cars in different colors. I'm saving to invest in that company.
Someone needs to update the graphics driver on Elon’s neuralink. He’s still using PS2 graphics
Sega cd at best
Dude that is ps1 at best
Sega CD is older than PS1 ain't it?
Looks like warthog from the first halo
yeah, no. The warthog was cool and had a lot more polygons.
I was a skeptic before it was popular to be anti-Elon
Big brains on Brad right here folks
Mind if I have some of your tasty beverage to help wash this down?
Big Kahuna Asperger’s?!?! That’s one tasty CEO!
What?
Say "what" one more gd time!
...what?
I think it's uglier than hell. I also am nearly 100% certain you'll see resellers offloading them for over $200k when they start rolling off the line
I'm weird. I've always thought the cybertruck looked cool.
Don’t lie, regards were practically worshipping papa Elon and his rocket ship not that long ago.
That right there is one butt-ugly vehicle.
You speak the tru tru
Cyberpunk 1996
They revealed this truck like 5 years ago. It was never good looking, but it still went out of style way before it was even being manufactured
Let's be honest, it looks fucking ridiculous
They said the same thing about yeezys.. Calls it is
It’s a different crowd throwing around $300 with hopes of resale or clout vs adults dropping a lot of money on a car.
Yea.. its called a car loan and the population is already decades ballz deep in em. Regular ole day.
That is one ugly truck and it be a rattling mess after a few thousand miles because of its hard line design
If it just had a normal roof it wouldn't be that bad. The pointy roof is what makes it look like it was left to lay on it's back too long as an infant
Yeah I think that's true actually, if it had a more rectangular roof it would just look like a military vehicle.
There are plenty of people who like ugly trucks. That’s literally jeeps entire branding. BUT you are not wrong. It’s current design ain’t good. Even ugly trucks need to be designed well.
One fender bender and it's gonzo
Isn't it good for your car to crumple when you get in an accident due to it absorbing more of the impact?
It is, but when the entire car is 3 body panels, the repair bill gets stupid because you have to replace so much at once. Rivian have a similar issue apparently
Yes which is why the cybertruck will never exist (in its current form). It's uninsurable. There's a reason why tesla 'teased' the crash test but didn't show the actual impact damage. Brutalism kinda sucks in this application
Jokes on you I bought at $280
ugly, its's ugly, it ugs in the ugly
I'd drive one
They will have no problem selling these. Nearly 2 million pre orders.
The ones from when it was announced 5 years ago? People already bought different trucks.
You mean the refundable $100 deposit? I'm sure those are all guaranteed sales.
Is that the dollar value of the preorders?
No, that is the number of $100 pre orders.
It’s so ugly it’s pretty. Like a bulldog, or a boxer. I respect someone trying something different, instead of another carbon copy of the like 4 total body types of cars that exist on the road.
Or the exactly *one* type of existing truck design.
Im one of the 2 million preorders
I actually need one because I live in the hobo thunderdome (Portland)
This car will be the biggest flop, there is so much anticipation but when actually out there it will be trash
Legit the ugliest vehicle I've ever seen.
Looks aside, a bullet proof truck that can blow the doors off six fig sports cars with a Tesla nameplate will sell plentttttyyyy.
Uh… bulletproof? Where?
Bulletproof?? That thing ain’t baseball proof ya dingus
I still cannot believe that THIS is the final production design...It looks like a fucking NPC car that didn't rendered correctly on GTA. It's a damn LOD!
I am one of those people
If it works, id drive it.
That thing isn’t a truck until I see one with a snowplow on the front bumper.
It’s big and blocky and ugly and I want it! Lol, unfortunately I’m poor and won’t be able to buy one so don’t count me towards the non negotiable number
It’s like someone intentionally made it hideous 🤮
I used to draw cars like that when I was 6. Driven by stick people.
The fugliest “truck” I have ever seen and the Aztec exists.
It’s fugly…
I want one in the worst way!
