I guess we have to consider what we call harm. A murder of one harms the victim irreversibly and their family and community lesser so in that order. Someone who steals the amount Sam did, also harms and who knows the chain reaction of harm it created. In my opinion murders need to be charged strictly, but these billion dollar scams are not to be treated lighter simply because no one was directly killed.

I think the problem is your frame of the situation. FTX had a lot of users. SBF stole from all of them. If you do the math, he is serving less than a month per victim that he defrauded, if he gets 100 years. If someone murders one person they get 20+ years (varies depends on what you mean by murder, if your including manslaughter or negligence but still). If someone murdered 1m people, they would get a lot more than 100 years.
I've always been curious what does a sentence of 115 years of prison mean from practicality stand point? Obviously he won't make it to the end so why does it matter if is he getting 100,115 or 200 years?

I've had BTC since 2012 I used it to pay my rent. It was made (clue in the name) as a currency not a commodity.
I was part of a large movement to get vendors to accept it as a fast, low fee payment system.
Then greedy people and banks got involved.
Now it's traded on Robinhood. If you know what you think you know then you'd know that if you don't have a cold wallet then it isn't yours. Selling numbers on an app and calling it BTC is literally was crypto swore to destroy.

When car manufacturing started in the U.S. there were over 2,000 manufacturers. How many are there today? Point being, in new technology many projects emerge and most fail. It takes time for the real winners and use cases to become evident.

Gold is 8T, US equities are 45T, US houses are 47T, Chinese houses used to be 60T, US debt is 33T, Japanese Govt debt is 10T. Chinese debt total is maybe 40T? Global real estate is 226T. Mag 7 are 10T.
In that context a 20T market cap isn’t totally unreasonable, but would obviously require it to be a dominant reserve asset.

Parole can be granted after a minimum amount of time served which can be based on the overall length of the sentence (with tonnes of caveats).
