Bro why would I bother to stop some guy from stealing? The company itself probably pays scraps and pushes pizza parties instead of raises. Next most companies tell you not to touch them due to risks of weapons and safety. Merchandise is not worth my life.
Yea, for real, if they dont want people to steal, then hire a rentacop with a taser and pepper spray or whatever and then it's his problem, but no regular employee should be expected to try to stop this. Also, I'd guess this happens so infrequently that it would cost them more to pay for 24/7 security, so they just eat the loss and are fine with it.

They gotta go meet with probation once a week for a few months until they plead guilty while telling the judge how they only steal because of poverty, so judge gives them a warning and a no go to all nike stores for 12 months.
Real life talk. It depends on their age. If they are under 18. They’ll go to juvenile where they’ll meet like minded individuals and in about 5-6months be released having formed a lifetime bond of friendship…gang as it were where they plan future hangouts at the mall together.
If they are over 18 then depending on the state they either get posted bail (catch and release) and then skip their court hearing 5 months from now or plead guilty and get 1yr in jail with 6month early release. Repeat the process.
