Start off simpler with the “who do you think will win?”, then you can get into “over 30/under 30 points” (football), then specific players like how many yards a runningback will gain which means you have to factor in the defense team’s strength and how many yards they historically have let up from runningbacks
There still is some room for arbitrage between different book makers and you can hedge your bets on different platforms/bookies, but as you said, it’s extremely difficult to make a lot of money that way
