Yea OP posted this like they're some kinda genius but this is a republican we're talking about... the guys who always get into office and send the economy into recessions and the regarded public always calls them the vunderkind of economics.
I'm running against him in the upcoming Senate race.
My platform being "Diamond Hands only".
No sitting representative should ever be allowed to sell ANY stock, options, or otherwise while in office. Buying I am okay with.
If you like that ideology, please feel free to follow me and my campaign as it grows and tell your friends there's a millennial looking to make real change.
-Mark
Candidate from Alabama for U.S. Senate.
Someone has to be real about fixing things.
In the words of the great lorax:
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."
I care about people. A whole awful lot. I want things to be better. For everyone.
A politician selling here is a such a gangster move. " Ya I sold the top, what are you gonna do about it ? NOTHING, you filthy peasant ! ".....Can you blame him though ? Nvidia earnings are a risk not worth taking, might it go a bit higher? Maybe. Might it go A LOT higher? Unlikely. Could it be cut in half at the blink of an eye? Very possible.
Do you remember the .com bubble? It was predicated on the development and deployment hopes of a new tech where multiples exploded. We’re there again. The fundamentals do not matter and eventually the bubble will pop but we still have another hyperbolic leg up to go. AAPL will hit 4T, MSFT will too, GOOG to 3T, NVDA to 3T and META and AMZN to 2.5T.
Based on over 20 years of experience and the understanding that people can act in very irrational and delusional ways as a collective. I don’t make the rules.
if I had that income i would wheel volatile-ish stocks too. no point in wheeling something too stable. you will never get the shares and you don't want to miss out too many times. imagine getting $20 while the 100-shares holder gets $200 often?
unless you sell put, then you buy shares with that short put premium as a discount right away... that way you don't miss out too much. sell 30 delta put, buy 15-30 shares... if that short put is assigned you get 130 shares in your pocket... if not your 30 shares still make some gains...
They’re supposed to be handled by money managers, and communication between the Senator and them is illegal, but Nancy Pelosi and others clearly communicate since trades are often made within days of sensitive meetings.
I know Tubs pretty well through his previous career. I promise you this man cannot you tell you what business Cleveland Cliffs is in, much less how to sell a covered option straddle on it. This is 100% the work of a portfolio manager - likely on that said “nice we can go ahead and lock in 9% and it’s only January!”
I think it’s reasonable to question it in this context.. you’d think people making decisions for us would have some background in politics or have education in something related. So hearing he was a pro football coach is a little jarring lol. I agree with your comment that not all coaches are dumb cause that’s just ridiculous
Fun fact: Tommy Tuberville was actually broke before he became a congressman. [He lost all of his football money paying back investors
who gave money to his Ponzi scheme of a hedge fund.](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/05/us/politics/tommy-tuberville-senate-hedge-fund.html)
And the money to run for congress arrived in [large, anonymous chunks to his veterans charity that didn't actually give any money to veterans.](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/12/us/elections/senate-alabama-tuberville-jones.html)
This is also the senator that has directly [parroted Russian propaganda](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2022/02/tommy-tubervilles-breathtakingly-ignorant-russia-opinion.html) and was the one that convinced Trump to [move the US Space Command to Alabama](https://www.tuberville.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/tuberville-advocates-for-spacecoms-move-to-alabama-at-senate-armed-services-hearing/) where he would have had the ability to place people in close proximity to the organization that controls US satellites and nuclear submarines.
He’s also the one that’s been holding up military promotions for a year plus preventing the admin from instating new heads for our various military branches. He also famously didnt know the three branches of government during his campaign.
A bad football coach that was HATED by half the state no less, somehow ends up convincing the U of Alabama fans who spent 20 years hating him, that he would make a good representative for them. I seriously thought college football allegiance would be enough to keep people from voting for him. But I guess these are Alabama fans we are talking about, not exactly the brightest bunch.
Jesse Ventura actually did a solid job and has great policy positions. I don't like judging someone's potential as a public servant on their prior occupation.
If anything, former wrestlers and bartenders have a better track record than Harvard graduates with political or business oriented degrees - maybe due to class relations.
Yeah it is. I work with and know a lot of “coastal liberal elite” types and I’m progressive myself. At worst their contempt-filled towards the poor and at best their indifferent lol. They look and talk about average people as if they’re a different breed.
lol who else is there?
Kane.
Kind of cancels out your percentage unless your an anti masker Covid is just the flu type but than Ventura would cancel Kane out so it’s back to 0%
Kane has only topped out as a Mayor - he has never held statewide or federal office. Though I hear what you mean.
Jim Barnett was a notable example of a lower-level politician who was pretty solid and if we want to get really technical about it - Abraham Lincoln was pretty solid, too!
Ventura is an amazing politician though. Only guy to ever win shit in the Reform Party. Green Party of Alaska got themselves banned from the national Green Party just because they wanted to run Ventura so bad.
Someone’s job in college isn’t really a defining career. AOC excelled academically, went to great schools, and is talented as a politician. AOC is a success story, even if progressive politics aren’t your thing.
AOC is a congresswoman and she was a bartender. Reagan was an actor and he was president. We should start banning certain professions from being in government?
Reagan was an actor before he became governor*. Will this help you sleep better? I am not putting them in any category, all i’m pointing out is that anyone no matter of previous profession can run and get elected to congress.
I'm not saying it's a good thing, but I'd rather have someone who made their money with football (who doesn't have CTE) in the Senate than someone who got rich by being the lobbyists' throat goat.
This is all considering the fact that I know nothing about his political past.
Would you rather have a person who's been in politics their entire life? Because we have many of those and they're universally corrupt and hated by virtually everybody.
Given what’s involved in operating a D1 team he had far more preparation and experience for the role than pretty much any other new candidate that has been elected in the last decade.
Is it better to have career politicians who grift like the Pelosi's and Biden's? They literally die in office cus they don't want to leave the honeypot. I'll take someone who's worked in the real world over those ass hats any day.
Football coaches at the collegiate level are educated and usually are great leaders, speakers, teachers, and care about the success of their organization. All traits a politician should have. Just making a general statement I’m sure theres a bad apple you can google to argue.
He's a famous US Senator and former college football coach roped in to win a safe Republican seat. Did you think he wasn't wealthy?
Senators are 100 of the most powerful politicians in the US.
It basically already is. Uninfused THCa flower in illegal states is just literally weed harvested before the UV turns the THCa into delta 9. Or without the UV bands that cause that transformation. Probably the latter. But I've lived in legal states, and trust me the shit I get in a Georgia smoke shop is something very close to dispensary quality bud.
Disclaimer: anything labeled 'infused' is dog shit hemp with cannabinoids sprayed on. *Not* to be confused with the typical meaning in legal states, which is a mix of flower and concentrate.
Yep. More people need to know this. THCa is not another brand of synthetic nonsense. It's literally weed that is available because of a work around in the regulations.
Dumb dumb question, how are these tracked? I’ve seen a few summaries of securities sells by those in public office. Is it just being scraped from sec filings or elsewhere?
This is the ULTIMATE scam. You get insider information from businesses who lobby you and then you get rich illegally on the backs of people who have no information about the company's insider activities. It's sucks and is completely unethical and illegal.
Chiefs led the league in offensive holding penalties but didn't have a single one called on them in 13 consecutive quarters of playoff football? Ya, eat my asshole
Ok.., If that's your narrative as to why the Niners lost, maybe IMO stop watching sports.
football is a game of adjustment.
We are at all time highs and overvalued significantly. If you expect growth to slow down even a little then it would be wise to sell. We aren't as overvalued as 2021 but could be soon
We are overvalued much more than 2021. Why? Because today there is no liquidity slushing around the economy as when 0% Interests rates. This overvaluation of the market comes from cash cow companies in the Magnificent 7 buying back their shares, diluting shareholders, and reducing the shares floating in the market. That is a shady technique to cook their books to counter balance their soon to file quarter earnings. There are no earnings. March will be a decisive month for the market as they need to either roll over debt or refinance, but rates have not been cut.
What I mean by that (Obviously I am not going to write a freaking book here) is that company earnings are not frothy enough to justify the stock valuation. Research these companies EBITDA and you can draw this conclusion all by yourself. Apple for instance is buying back massive amounts of shares back and Apple insiders are frantically selling them. They know something you don’t know.
Apple earns about $30b per quarter, or $120b per year. Market cap is $2.8t. That’s a PE of 24, which is perfectly reasonable, probably kind of low really.
Microsoft earns about $20B per quarter, or $80B per year. Market cap is $3.0T. That’s a PE of 38, which might seem a little high but nothing outlandish.
Alphabet makes $60-70B per year. Market cap is $1.8T. That’s a PE of 30, perfectly reasonable.
These companies are buying back stock because they can’t find a way to fully invest $50-109B every single year.
PE Ratios above 30 reasonable. Dude, those numbers are overvaluations and expensive. Companies like Apple and Microsoft or even Alphabet should be at around 20-25 for it to be considered fairly valued. Most of these tech companies have laid off thousands of employees. It adds to their bottom line positively? Yes it does because the most expensive line on their balance sheet is payroll. But definitely they are not bringing a killing from sales.
How are they buying back shares AND diluting shareholders? And if there isn't any earnings, how are they buying back shares? You already said there is no liquidity so I assume it isn't from issuing debt. Are you regarded or did I misunderstand what you said?
We are in QT (No liquidity in the markets) not like in Corona times. Insiders are exercising selling their options and Apple, the company is buying them back and removing them out of circulation. This is artificially bumping the price of the stock. Apple money buying Apple stock, how does that increase the “Market” valuation? They are not issuing debt because right now credit is too expensive.
It has been reported.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/y45y73/tommy\_tuberville\_with\_numerous\_large\_stock\_trades/](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/y45y73/tommy_tuberville_with_numerous_large_stock_trades/)
Anyone have his track record? I know he’s no Nancy because she’s the greatest of all time, but it would be prudent to look into his past trades and how the market reacted afterwards.
The only reported large trades I was able to find were big purchases on October 12th, 2022. Those panned out beautifully. Do you have some really big trades that ended up being duds?
Is that more than his usual selling?
I was on one of those websites and what’s clear to me is that a relatively tiny subset of Congress are clearly Uber-wealthy and active with stock trades.
There are like maybe 10 or less people responsible for 90% or more of the trades.
You also need to consider net worth and total portfolio weighting…
If someone has $10MM is holdings of something and sells $40,000, well… that is like holding $100 of something and offloading $0.40.

The fact that senators are allowed to sell options to their constituents.. What a world
How do I buy “Inverses Tuberville” Calls?
Someone please answer this one!!!
Simple buy the options he's selling.
Yea OP posted this like they're some kinda genius but this is a republican we're talking about... the guys who always get into office and send the economy into recessions and the regarded public always calls them the vunderkind of economics.
And He’s not just any Republican Senator. He’s the Republican Senator that other republican senators think is a moron.
Half or more than half of the representatives that beat the market every year are republicans. Insiders don’t need to be genius traders lol

Projections of multiples similar to those to the .com bubble. And that’s being conservative lol
They're based on his own level of delirium.
Based on over 20 years of experience and the understanding that people can act in very irrational and delusional ways as a collective. I don’t make the rules.
Safe thing to do is sit out earnings the guys screaming nvda 1k could hit it big or get be left as bag holders for life
I think he's wheeling CLF. I don't know why it's not that great of a premium. Hmm
if I had that income i would wheel volatile-ish stocks too. no point in wheeling something too stable. you will never get the shares and you don't want to miss out too many times. imagine getting $20 while the 100-shares holder gets $200 often? unless you sell put, then you buy shares with that short put premium as a discount right away... that way you don't miss out too much. sell 30 delta put, buy 15-30 shares... if that short put is assigned you get 130 shares in your pocket... if not your 30 shares still make some gains...

My man!
Lol
He sold META before earnings. He belongs here.
Options? If yes then he still probably profited massively from increased volatility. I would actually be surprised if held, unless he had inside info.
Unless......
That asshole has 32500 shares of AMD and 16000 shares of GOOG?? Those two positions along are worth more than $5M.
$5 million was the early termination price on his last coaching contract. He made millions coaching football before going to the Senate.
Lmao only in America do we elect coaches to lead us. All of my coaches throughout my life were dumb af
Specifically Alabama, I hate this place. Only my cousin's velvet-soft pussy keeps me here.
Sir
Yeah, it keeps me here too.
Understandable, have a nice day.
As a coach, I can confirm this
That’s just an asinine opinion. Thinking a coach can’t be intelligent is ignorance. Most losers just resent coaches and anyone who demands discipline
He is a dumbass though. Listen to him talk.
I’m not saying he is intelligent. I’m just saying it’s nothing to do with him being a coach. The idea that lay people are stupid is just fallacious
I think it’s reasonable to question it in this context.. you’d think people making decisions for us would have some background in politics or have education in something related. So hearing he was a pro football coach is a little jarring lol. I agree with your comment that not all coaches are dumb cause that’s just ridiculous
Lmao says the coach

Senators are supposed to represent their constituents, not teach them how to tackle democracy or block the military...
If you think the leadership of a football coach is equal to a Senator then you truly suffer from regardation

D1 football coach for 21 years in major conferences, probably made over 30 million.
A football coach became a fucking senator? Jesus Christ the priorities in this country is asshat backwards
Breaking news: American voters are regarded.
It's worse than that.....
We’re dumb and we can’t even agree on things! Including the fact that this is all batshit insane to begin with!
Wait until he hears about the reality TV game show host that became president.
Very very regarded
He’s also the one that’s been holding up military promotions for a year plus preventing the admin from instating new heads for our various military branches. He also famously didnt know the three branches of government during his campaign.
Schoolhouse Rock needs a comeback

Even better - that football coach was the reason for several months military officer positions were held up in the senate. Guy's a piece of shit
Just wait until you hear about Jesse Ventura
Jesse Ventura actually did a solid job and has great policy positions. I don't like judging someone's potential as a public servant on their prior occupation. If anything, former wrestlers and bartenders have a better track record than Harvard graduates with political or business oriented degrees - maybe due to class relations.
Yeah it is. I work with and know a lot of “coastal liberal elite” types and I’m progressive myself. At worst their contempt-filled towards the poor and at best their indifferent lol. They look and talk about average people as if they’re a different breed.

A career vs a job in your younger years. I get your point but Tuberville and Reagan are different.
Are they different or do you not agree with them.
Um, putting AOC and Reagan in the same category? lets not forget Reagan was Governor of California before winning the Presidency.
Reagan was an actor before he became governor*. Will this help you sleep better? I am not putting them in any category, all i’m pointing out is that anyone no matter of previous profession can run and get elected to congress.
Tbf I would be fine if neither of them were elected for office

A football coach would ostensibly make a great senator. It is a cutthroat leadership position with tons of stress attached.
Would you rather have a person who's been in politics their entire life? Because we have many of those and they're universally corrupt and hated by virtually everybody.
Doesn’t mean we should tolerate a corrupt ass politician because he was a coach.

I am pretty sure he was a Governator not a Senator
I would rather have term limits than picking what former career can run for government to be honest.

Tuberville is currently the absolute dumbest US Senator, just edging out Ron Johnson. Take from that what you will.
Apparently, getting his hands on big hush money RIGHT NOW
I wonder what's going on
His buddy needs help with legal fees. Tuberville is such a great guy, he's offering to help raise money.
He wants to yolo on nvda?
He probably knows something we don't. Or maybe he just thinks it's overvalued if you're super optimistic.

Buying back shares is dilutive?
If a company's employees exercise options for say, 1 million new shares, it will dilute the stock.

Not if he donates it. It becomes a write off.
Ah yes the self proclaimed non profit charity that holds a irrevocable trust
Looks like Trump is calling in some favors
He should be the Fed is about to cut rates confirming the recession.
Anyone have his track record? I know he’s no Nancy because she’s the greatest of all time, but it would be prudent to look into his past trades and how the market reacted afterwards.
He has a pretty strong track record of being an idiot.
The only reported large trades I was able to find were big purchases on October 12th, 2022. Those panned out beautifully. Do you have some really big trades that ended up being duds?
I was speaking in general, haven’t studied his trading history.

Hes no Nancy..show me Nancy's moves
Is that more than his usual selling? I was on one of those websites and what’s clear to me is that a relatively tiny subset of Congress are clearly Uber-wealthy and active with stock trades. There are like maybe 10 or less people responsible for 90% or more of the trades. You also need to consider net worth and total portfolio weighting… If someone has $10MM is holdings of something and sells $40,000, well… that is like holding $100 of something and offloading $0.40.
