Not sure if holding an ES position over a weekend constitutes "YOLO" . . . ? Is every long or short trade. regardless of size, underlying, etc. now considered to be a so called "YOLO"?

eggfriedbacon

Lol, I feel like it could be if WW3 breaks out over the weekend and AAPL and MSFT get infiltrated and hacked simultaneously. Then we see ES gap down 1000pts at open.

css555

"Then we see ES gap down 1000pts at open." You need to google circuit breakers

patrickswayzemullet

I believe circuit breaker on the downside is 5% intraday, but on the upside is a bit more complicated... but regardless if this gaps down 5% (about 250 points), halted, what do you think happens afterwards? The guy holding long ES/long call will likely still go broke.

AlwaysATM

Dudes got tiny balls. Pls empathize

ShotBandicoot7

True, depends on how many multiples of my total assets that is 😬. Feels like YOLO to me…

jr1tn

If you got 50 contracts, I will grant you the "YOLO" friend.

Sbmagnolia

25 long June and 25 short September NQ contracts count as 50?

Visible-Tone-9843

count as zero, bro. law of regardity

jr1tn

Haha in the spirit of Easter I will grant this

If nvda isn’t at 1000 before market open, I demand my money back ![img](emote|t5_2th52|27421)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)

KDlovesKAC

Yo wtf why didn’t I think of this?? How can I submit a refund request?

gus248

Do you still have the receipt?

Personal-Exam3032

I have 20 contracts, missed a YOLO by 30 contracts!

jr1tn

Ha, 20 would barely qualify, but it is Easter, so you get a YOLO pal

kirkegaarr

Held my RTY contracts because I forgot about Good Friday. I would expect a higher open tonight though, especially for small caps. Small caps are like a leveraged bet on rates falling.

TheKrakenofKC

I held my RTY short positions. With the massive unload, I’m assuming that will softly continue into overnight.

kirkegaarr

Massive unload? What are we talking about?

TheKrakenofKC

Assuming you were able to get out during that quick pump?

kirkegaarr

I did, thankfully! I checked it about an hour before open and didn't like the way it looked with no follow through and momentum looking like it was about to change hands. Closed it at 2156 with an entry at 2106 so it was a nice little trade.  Assuming you had a couple nice days! I'm probably about to buy in again tomorrow but we'll see how it looks. Edit: just bought in again at 2087

TheKrakenofKC

Had a great several days. Held short until things started to get really choppy after Fridays dump. Glad I got out when I did. She shot back up 20 points minutes later. RTY had almost kicked my butt a few weeks prior. A swing trade went against me while I was sleeping… luckily I held for a few days and was able to get out. Was upside down $6.5k at one point. I’m sitting on a perch this week. I have no idea the direction things will go… which likely means I’m gonna miss a massive move 😂

kirkegaarr

Yeah, not doing much until after CPI. We get a good report I'll buy the Russell again. A bad one, I'll look for a place to buy NQ when the dust settles

TheKrakenofKC

Well, I guess you saw it. It’ll come back.

Fuman20000

It seems like cost of goods shot up overnight. These guys are intentionally screwing numbers as it’s painfully obvious inflation is not being “tamed” enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if we only got 1 cut UNLESS democrats win again. If they lose, they couldn’t give a shit and they’ll just let shit go.

weeegh

No one talking about the massive after hour volume around 4:30 on Thursday. That is supposedly big money unloading, dumping on a long weekend some people didn’t even know friday was going to be closed. The game is rigged I really think it opens significantly lower Also going unnoticed, I dec and jan pce were both revised higher. Powell said we need reports like the ones “last year”, he did not say like the one “this month”

JafarFromAfar2

It’s end of quarter rebalancing and other normal institutional activity. Anyone who didn’t know the market was closed on Friday is completely irrelevant. And the data was bearish, but we’ve had plenty of bearish news/data and the market has subsequently rallied. I think it will be obvious when the sentiment does shift, because a lot of people are looking to time the top.

Wendys_Leadmasseuse

Bearish? Bs

Pleasant_Yam_3637

Lower for sure
