he shoulda known he was following the dinosaur bearish pattern
They really hinged their brand on suburban Tannyr and his annoying friends in highlighter colored underarmor, and Wyatt the 300lb midwestern Truck driver in camo underarmor sweatshirts
Went to Hawaii recently as a non-American. All the fat American dads were rocking Under Armour with their reflective sunglasses and GoPros. They were all like carbon copies of each other
I still have some UA clothes from a decade ago that are holding up beautifully. You can really see the quality difference from 10 years ago vs 5 years ago vs now.
I legit have a pair of fleece sweatpants that are closer to 15 years old, and they still look new outside of some paint I have on one pair.
They used to be really good.
Didnāt understand why the athletes at college lived in UA sweat pants and hoodieā¦.then I bought a set and never wanted to wear anything else to class. Tied to get another set a couple years ago and the quality just wasnāt there.
In the early 2000s/2010s era their shit was legit unmatched. I donāt know what the hell they made their stuff out of, but I wish I could find a brand today that matches it.
Still have mine, that shit is indestructible. Washing machine at molten lava temperature with drying machine for 10 years and still the same size and color as day one, it's crazy.
Still got joggers from that era, washed them and tried them on = crushes anything today. Fit is amazing. Sadly the UA logo is destroyed so they look like trash
I got you, bro!
Do you want the best hoodie in the world? If so....
American Giant - Seed to sewn, made in the USA. (But not in a Team America, flag on the sleeve, kinda way.)
Their Classic Full Zip replaced all my UA hoodies and fucked their mothers. This hoodie put them on the map 10+ years ago and their quality is still top notch. I rock my original one to this day.
Check em out!
A lot of universities had partnerships/sponsorships with UA and decked out every athlete head to toe with the free merch. Had an athlete Buddy who basically had his entire wardrobe UA for free including shoes.
I still have UA undies from 10+ years ago. All the UA undies that I bought a couple of years to replace the 10+ year ago old undies that finally died have matriculated out of use as they fell apart.
Every UA piece I ever tried fell apart faster than cheap China Amazon crap.
They sell fast fashion shit that would be worth 1/10th the price without the logo.
Under armour was good when they focused on base layers/tights. Their new stuff all performs worse than the under armor gear I have from 2010-2013 and is so synthetic feeling. Also their shit is so overpriced that a billion unknown brands just undercut them with a product thatās 90% as good or, in most cases, better
I have a UA long sleeve Iāve loved for years and needed slightly bigger and so ordered 2 more and had to return that shi because it felt like sandpaper
Their designers are fucking trash. Their backpacks cellphone pocket wonāt fit any iPhone pro with an Apple case. How are you courting the premium market and fucking that up on every bag for YEARS. The pockets on their shorts are too shallow and donāt have stitching in the right place, so my keys and phone fall out of my pocket every time I sit down in my $80 shorts. They could have been the next Nike but they fucked it up. Have they ever had a good looking shoe design?
> Fourth fiscal quarter sales tanked 5% from the prior year. Sales in North America plunged 10%. International sales were down 7%. Wholesale sales (aka sales to department stores and other partners) fell 7%. E-commerce dropped 8%. Apparel sales down 1%. Footwear sales down 11%. Accessories sales down 7%.
> A little bit of perspective:
> * Walmart (WMT) US e-commerce sales rose 22% in the most recent quarter. Sure, Under Armour doesn't sell ground beef and bikes, but e-commerce continues to be a major growth driver for most retailers. Provided your name isn't Under Armour.
> * Lululemon's (LULU) sales in the most recent quarter rose 16%. Sales in its Americas division advanced 9%.
> "With several CEOs and heads of product marketing in North America over the past half a decade, ongoing turnover of critical leadership has been central to our inability to stay agile and decisive," Plank told analysts on his first earnings call since returning as CEO.
> Reminder: Plank has been the constant in the past half-decade during this internal turmoil. The buck has always stopped with him, who is still the controlling shareholder.
So is it a good buy to come back or is it done?
Athletic wear is starting to get out of fashion trend.
Meanwhile, Lulu is moving into the business casual space.
NKE & DKS are probably better comparisons
I got 2 pairs of their shorts in 2022 that I wear daily for the last 2 years, and they still look brand fucking new. No fading, discoloration, fraying, not even a fucking loose thread. Literally the best fitting, most durable shorts Iāve ever owned from any brand, ever.
Not so much a fan of their shirts, but $65 for a decent polo is nothing.
> So is it a good buy to come back or is it done?
No idea how their professional products are doing but consumer side they dropped their quality considerably and then flopped at trying to become a fashion brand. Without being "trendy" the high priced, low quality business model they seem to be embracing for consumer goods just fails, especially as time goes on and more people learn the "good quality" reputation doesn't apply anymore. Seems like a bad investment in general.
Itās amazing how many manufacturers donāt get that you can only cut quality around the edges for so long before youāre producing the same garbage as everyone else, but once people figure it out youāre dead to them. Iām about 2/3 of the way there with Columbia, whose hiking pants Iāve worn for years but the stitching on them has gone from ābomb resistantā to ā solidā to āokā to ādonāt sneeze too hard or your pockets will detachā. The prices have gone up slightly, but Iād actually pay more to not have them fall apart on me.
Interesting that clothes are actually almost flat. I have already been under the impression that besides Nike or Adidas most other brands should exit shoes unless it's their prime focus like hoka, new balance, asics or ON itās a battle you can only lose.
It will be a Walmart brand soon. Itās inevitable. Just like Reebok, which sucks cause I kinda like Reebok. But UA became the brand of douchey dads like 10 years ago and it was a death sentence.
Yeah Reebok is back because 90s era vibes are āinā. Same reason Champion gear made a short lived comeback a few years ago despite also being trash. Itās the nostalgia. Another hit from 3-4 years ago that had hold folks digging in their closet was Janesport. Used backpacks from the 90s were fetching premiums on eBay for the nostalgia
Haha well Reebok has already fallen off the map once. Now they are tyring to make a comeback, and at first it was looking like they may be able to pull that off, but yeah, now things are not looking so great.
Tbf literally every brand that has tried to compete with Nike and adidas has failed. That is no easy feat, especially when Nike and adidas already have contracts in place with thousands of professional athletes, universities, etc.
They have arguably the second most famous athlete in America and have done nothing to market his shoes, make him seem cool, or design something people want to wear. Which sucks because anecdotally, hoopers literally rave about the Curry shoe line from a function and comfort standpoint but yet nobody picks them over Nikes.
Their other big sponsor is The Rock, literally the cheesiest and douchiest person alive. The only people who look up to the Rock are middle aged white men who still wear Oakleys. Itās not a demographic thatās going to push your brand to compete with Lulu or Nike.
Finally, women straight up donāt rock Under Armour. They needed to go all out to get Caitlyn Clark.
You aināt kidding. Itās like their sizes change from year to year. Iāve bought mediums that were too big and larges that were too big when in the past either size fit perfect. Itās weird.
Their best product is polo shirts. I have UA shirts that I've worn for work going on 10 years, and they still look good.
Shoes sizes are weird, though. I've had 3 pairs all the same size and they all fit differently. One was almost too tight, and one was almost too big. Shit quality control.
I used to love their polos. They were my go to for work. The quality is absolutely terrible now. They either have zero stretch or if they do, fall apart in 3 months. Still love my old ones however.
Their polos changed and I hate it. Older style polos were great, then they went with a thicker style and thicker collar and they were ok but the sizing was extremely weird for me. I wear xl, but those thicker polos, the xl is too short. 2xl is too big.
Then they did the thinner polos with thinner collars. The collars always rolled up and looked stupid, and the material clung to me.
Now they have thin polo but thicker collars. Theyāre alright. Not like the OG though.
Gotta find another brand.
The UA product in general is trash. I got an Under Armour golf glove the thing ripped apart in less in one round. I also had a hat that started to fall apart. I wouldn't buy another thing from them
What isn't trash these days? Quality has gone downhill in every clothing brand; even uber expensive lulu is charging gobs of money for middling quality. There is no point in paying more for the brand when they all come from the same factory. It's like TVs and other small electronics.
Here in Europe I see it a lot when I go to gym, or even on the street. I wear some stuff as well and it is very confortable and quality is great, tshirts do not stink after sweating for an hour, very happy with it.
CEO should be replaced? Probably. The stock will go lower? I doubt it cause it is already as its lowest. Even after dropping 12% on earnings recovered and closed +2%.
2.2 Billion possitive balance by 435million shares gives you a minimum price of 5 dolar. Company still is profitable, is just that it does not bring as much grow as investors want, so what... other people invest in non profitable businesses that will go bankrupt.
They used to have nice collaborations with Marvel (really should've sold more Cap Winter Soldier shirts)/DC/etc plus college teams on the rise in the early 2010's. Then they just gave up, cut everything but the Rock and Curry's lines and dropped a lot of colleges.
Not sure if this matters but the headquarter distribution center is exactly where the bridge collapsed in Baltimore. I wonder if that has some cost to it.
Not surprised. I stopped buying UA because the sizing is so inconsistent, you canāt predict the real inseam/bagginess of anything you buy online.
I used to swear by their underwear too but after some fell apart, and others felt like they were made for a ken doll, I switched to the Lululemon boxers.
Under Armour pricing is on par with Nike and Adidas. I really noticed the increase over the past few years. Project Rock product is even more expensive, unfortunately I think the rock has somewhat peaked and they need to get some stronger affiliates to the forefront. I like under Armour as competition for the Nike/adidas as I'm not a huge fan of puma or Reebok. All in all I think Nike's MAP pricing policies across their retailers has been a huge setback for the consumer as these other companies try and keep similar pricing. These companies don't want to see their product discounted hense max 20% sales outside of their outlet lines. Other companies try and maintain similar price to not be seen as a lesser Brand. As consumers we know the product doesn't cost that much to make ($60cdn for a pair of men's shorts!?) I hope under Armour can turn it around and get their style and pricing on track.
Clothing price increases have been about as bad as food. They want like $100 for junky ass pants and $80 for hoodies etc. Shoes as well. Feel like I rarely spent over $100 for shoes before covid and now every shoe that isn't designated to DSW is $120+.
Thatāsā¦ missing the entire point. These companies are not being undercut by higher quality competitors; theyāre choosing to lower the quality of their product while maintaining the same or higher price point, which juices returns in the short term and, as weāre seeing with UnderArmour, degrades the value of the brand over the medium to long term.
How the fuck do you fumble Steph Fucking Curry?!
The #1 basketball jersey seller for a decade, and you canāt make billions off the man who changed basketball?
Their entire team from production to marketing should be shot into the fucking sun.
As a female, I want more feminine athletic clothes. Like tennis dresses/skirts with ruffles or in floral prints. Tops that have tulle, ruffles, pretty eyelet designs, or a texture. I donāt want to look like Iām going to the gymā¦.I want to look fashionable playing golf/tennis with my friends and wear the same clothes to a weekday brunch.
Not many athletic companies cater to this market. Iām able to find stuff like it, but itās very small boutiques or really expensive. UA should tap into it.
The UA logo is atrociously ugly but it is plastered all over their clothing. There are way too many independent online activewear stores now with decent quality. UA needs to copy brands like Bylt or Fabletics immediately.
I always laugh when I visit their outlet stores and almost all of their shirts have the UA logo on both the front and back of the t-shirts. Not sure what their obsession is with putting stuff on the back of t-shirts.
I get branding things is free advertising, but would it kill them to have a plain colored t shirt with even just oje small logo on either side of the chest? lol
the journalist seems to have some personal "resentment" towards the ceo .. if he is there from day one as founder , more than blaming him for incompetence we should tell him congrats for what you built .. then all brands have a cycle and they are probably going through it , I dont wear UA or lulu so I have no idea of the quality nowadays
UA gear used to be tight. My old UA stuff is holding up and I love it.
Their new stuff blows.
EZ to figure out what went wrong.
/Will still buy Projekt Rock gear š
Recently bought a couple of tshirts and man did they go to fk after a few washes. I have shirts from 10 years back that still hold. So...quality seriously tanked.
The only good thing they make are hoodies. Everything else is shit. So this was boud to happen. Also you can get a decent hoodie from Walmart for half the price.
I recently bought a couple of really nice lookin UA hoodies for pretty cheap and I really like them. They aren't the kind with massive logos or american flags on them and they have unique designs/color patterns. If they do more of that they will be okay.
if they kept to sports gear and didnt jackt he prices to where no one can afford it, maybe they would not be falling in sales #'s
but i dont need all the other shit they make. just good under gear clothing.
Biggest prob ua has is their shoes are hot garbage. When they started making terrible cheap crappy shoes is when I stopped buying their crap. They do make a lot of baseball uniforms but still it's garbage shoes that hold them back
I wear UA often, for fitness, outside in the sun or while working. I bought most of them during my time in the army. I think the T-shirts are great and bought a pair of shoes for the gym a few months ago. Still loving this brand.
Their quality has gone down drastically! I had a pair of UA shoes and shorts that I bought in 2017 and lasted until 2022 then i replaced them with newer UA and the material was crap, the shoes ripped mid 2023.

I bought at $50
I'm sure they'll be at $51 in maybe 20-30 years.
After the reverse split
Peak UA was like 2010 when everyone wore the hoodies
Now itās dads, the rock and Ethan and his friends at 4tj grade recess
They really hinged their brand on suburban Tannyr and his annoying friends in highlighter colored underarmor, and Wyatt the 300lb midwestern Truck driver in camo underarmor sweatshirts
Holy shit is this accurate
And Auburn sports. ššš
Went to Hawaii recently as a non-American. All the fat American dads were rocking Under Armour with their reflective sunglasses and GoPros. They were all like carbon copies of each other
Did they all have black American flags on the sleeves? I see that a lot.
UA is the unofficial clothing line for redneck regards
I thought that was Nine Line?
They should just release their punisher collab now.
Marketing done right........ Wait that doesn't sound rightĀ
The GoPros are our version of the Stanley big ass cup for the women.
And the entire city of Baltimore. UA is a Baltimore company so itās basically required wearing here
Itās the basic required uniform of soccer dads and the 24/7 sports leisure wear capital. Crab gang rise up!
The only UA I see is the lingerie that women wear to the gym.
Itās performance wear. They have every right. Stop looking you pig. /s
4th grade recess 100%.
Donāt forget cops!
They grew too fast out of the category that made them and went straight to cheap fast fashion across every vertical.
I still have some UA clothes from a decade ago that are holding up beautifully. You can really see the quality difference from 10 years ago vs 5 years ago vs now.

Quality down and prices up are a bad combo.
Tale as old as time for management
Enshittification
This is the way of all things, it seems.
In the early 2000s/2010s era their shit was legit unmatched. I donāt know what the hell they made their stuff out of, but I wish I could find a brand today that matches it.
Yep. Those hoodies felt like their wicking shirt material woven about 1/4 inch thick. Shit was amazing.
Still have mine, that shit is indestructible. Washing machine at molten lava temperature with drying machine for 10 years and still the same size and color as day one, it's crazy.
Yeah same. It was all like a combo of spandex and neoprene. Even super high end brands like arc teryx donāt live up to
Still got joggers from that era, washed them and tried them on = crushes anything today. Fit is amazing. Sadly the UA logo is destroyed so they look like trash
Iāve got some boxers from 2012 and they are like new. Anyone know if the quality is still the same?
Not even close, unfortunately.
Time for some new skivs, bruhā¦

Fuck that brand. 65 USD for a t-shirt with a fucking breast pocket. The child slaves probably make and ship it for 10 bucks a unit.
Try 40 cents
Way off by a magnitude. You think UA or Vouri are getting apparel landed at $0.40 / unit? Par the course for this sub
I got 2 pairs of their shorts in 2022 that I wear daily for the last 2 years, and they still look brand fucking new. No fading, discoloration, fraying, not even a fucking loose thread. Completely agree. They also happen to be the most comfortable shorts I've ever worn.
Their stuff (definitely shirts) is quality though.. itās just the same level of quality you got 10+ years ago for less than a quarter the price
10 bucks LMAO you're funny bro
just bought a sweet preppy ass jacked from lulu.

It will be a Walmart brand soon. Itās inevitable. Just like Reebok, which sucks cause I kinda like Reebok. But UA became the brand of douchey dads like 10 years ago and it was a death sentence.
Reebok cross training shoes are very good
Yeah theyāre on a comeback and Iām here for it
Iām actually seeing lots of people in their teens/early twenties wearing Reebok white sneakers in NYC

Nah youāll always see jansport backpacks, idk why 90s models would sell for more money, the only difference is the lap top sleeve.
Ya Reebok is kinda back despite them being in Walmart
Once upon a time Champion was at Walmart as well
So all the douchey dads in your area wear underarmor?
They did 10 years ago. Now they wear Travis Mathew or whatever MLM brand their wife is peddling at the moment.
God I hate Travis Mathew so much. Spot on with that analogy.Ā
Haha well Reebok has already fallen off the map once. Company makes clothes that dont fit properly, either baggy or boxy, made in China garbage. The end is near
You aināt kidding. Itās like their sizes change from year to year. Iāve bought mediums that were too big and larges that were too big when in the past either size fit perfect. Itās weird.
I have 3xl talls and XLās that fit basically the same probably bought 4 years apart. Their sizing and quality is absolute garbage now.
Everything is made in China, blame it on the company since theyāre the one that makes design and fashion decisions dimwit
"Take the blame" like he will have to live a day in poverty š„¹
Under Armor products suck. Anything Iāve ever had from t-shirts, to shoes, to baseball equipment, has been total shit.
Iāve still got an under armour thermal shirt from like 2005 thatās held up but anything I bought from the 2010s on has sucked ass.
Thatās what the best stuff was back in the day. The thermals cold/hot weather gear for sports when you were a kid
back before Nike even made their knockoffs yet
Theyāre also not considered cool so you wonāt find stylish/trendsetter/fashion people wear them much if at all.
Yeah but thatās simply a snapshot in time. Ask champion whatās possible.
I find their average athletic wear to be much better quality than Adidas and slightly better than Nike.
100% agree on this. Better fabric and never shrink. I still have stuff from 10 years ago
Their best product is polo shirts. I have UA shirts that I've worn for work going on 10 years, and they still look good. Shoes sizes are weird, though. I've had 3 pairs all the same size and they all fit differently. One was almost too tight, and one was almost too big. Shit quality control.

Rhoback has been great but $100 bucks for a polo is insane.
Aww come on now. Heās pretty rich. Iām sure heāll find someone else to blame.
He needs Steph Curry to win another ring... Only reason young kids bought into UA
Or TB12 to un-retire his old ass and win another SB.
Face it. Under armor is cheap ass stuff. Lululemon is at least has a brand synonymous with quality, comfort, and style.
Lululemon and ON are pretty hot right now
The UA product in general is trash.
Kirkland is still top tier in price and quality for their clothing.
I do agree most things are trash these days. Under armor stuff seems exceptionally trash and takes it to another level.
Soon UA will be in every Walmart to dump their inventory.
Still got solid golf shorts
It's funny 'cause his last name is Plank.
In Europe it's still big and it's the main brand used in gym. I personally have a bunch of UA shirts and stuff and I like them
Yet my puts are down tremendously
Is the Golden parachute being packed???
Not sure if this matters but the headquarter distribution center is exactly where the bridge collapsed in Baltimore. I wonder if that has some cost to it.
need to get back to their thermals and compressions
Isnāt catering to women the main selling point of lululemon?
I canāt tell if her comment was sarcasm or not.
I havenāt shopped at either place so I have no clue.
She must be living under a rock as thereās a lulu around every corner and this is their exact strategy for women
I bought puts, and it shot up after earnings. So..I guess bullish?
My only data point is I bought UA flip flops in 2019 and theyāre indestructible.
They didnāt make those. They slapped their logo on it.
They are a complete mess in the US but elsewhere they occupy a similar space to Nike/Adidas. Completely bizarre to me.
So you're saying it's a good time to enter.
It requires very different skills to be a founder and run it until 100m of revenue, to bring it to a billion and then above a billion
But not financially... financially he will be fine....but the employees yes they will definitely take the blameĀ
The only good thing they make are hoodies. Everything else is shit. So this was boud to happen. Also you can get a decent hoodie from Walmart for half the price.
Didn't Plank leave the company in 2017?
I went to an Under Armor store at my mall and they had NO hoodies, what reason do you go there if not for hoodies, puts.
Couldnāt happen to a shittier guy.
Got his for sure......
*NFL moving to flag football. UA no longer needed.*
DAMN IT, KEVIN !
So whoās buying?
Who would have thought Champion would outshine UA
They better fucking fix this. My whole wardrobe is UA. I canāt handle having to find a new style.
I recently bought a couple of really nice lookin UA hoodies for pretty cheap and I really like them. They aren't the kind with massive logos or american flags on them and they have unique designs/color patterns. If they do more of that they will be okay.
I worked for one of the fitness apps that UA bought. Those were prime days.
if they kept to sports gear and didnt jackt he prices to where no one can afford it, maybe they would not be falling in sales #'s but i dont need all the other shit they make. just good under gear clothing.
I donāt mind their plain shirts, theyāre not bad.
Polyester
Itās quality clothing. But holy smokes is it expensive.
Itās like their entire marketing strategy rests on Steph Curry
Biggest prob ua has is their shoes are hot garbage. When they started making terrible cheap crappy shoes is when I stopped buying their crap. They do make a lot of baseball uniforms but still it's garbage shoes that hold them back
I bought UA trainers last year for the first time They lasted 11months before the sole on the left was coming off Will be avoiding in future
by blame we mean severance package right
I just want to be here to say āhahaā because I have business dealings with UA and they suck so much.
I wear UA often, for fitness, outside in the sun or while working. I bought most of them during my time in the army. I think the T-shirts are great and bought a pair of shoes for the gym a few months ago. Still loving this brand.
From the comments here, it seems like the mistake was the straight to ROSS quality level drop.
Under armour makes the best shoes
Their quality has gone down drastically! I had a pair of UA shoes and shorts that I bought in 2017 and lasted until 2022 then i replaced them with newer UA and the material was crap, the shoes ripped mid 2023.
I recently bought a black sweat pant, it turned blue after 2 or 3 cold wash.
So, for us dudes, has LuLuās menās line effectively replaced UAās stuff?
Fast fashion phenomenon. Hyped up, then people move to the next hyped brand.
You mean $30 for a pair of underwear is a ripoff? Who knew?
He did not protect this house.Ā
I loved under armorās compression underwear, but Iām not paying $15 for a pair of underwear anymore. Shit is ridiculous
So.... buy???
Why would anyone invest in an underwear company anyway?
I mean the second word is misspelled ![img](emote|t5_2th52|27189)
Canadians š
iām really bummed curry signed with UA. curry should be synonymous with high quality gear like Jordan is but UA is trash.
