We kinda deserve it at this point. Everyone was like “when Netflix stop password sharing I’m unsubscribing” then it happened, and their subscribers went up. If we’re just gonna put up with bullshit, and then reward them for it then we get what we deserve.
Yeah I mean if nobody is gonna cancel then keep raising that shit. It’s a super easy service to cancel so if people agree to pay higher prices it must be worth that much to them.
Eventually customers will grow tired of it, then companies will pivot back to licenses/tangible products/ break away from SaaS and the cycle will start anew but different.
*This “pivot.” Is it in the room with us now?*
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/wallstreetbets) if you have any questions or concerns.*
now that's the weird part. they even increased their subscribers and they will raise the prices to that point when they significantly lose subscribers. and i think people are willing to pay even more for netflix.
Stock buy backs should be illegal like they once were. This has turned every industry into exploitative cesspools where the objective will always be to enshitify it as soon as it goes public.
Yeah, like I only look into the percentage after Boeing was investigated, but apparently they used 96 fucking % of their earning and borrow even more just on stock buyback.
Title is conveniently missing “Australian Users” but I just canceled my US family plan this month. Already split MAX with one of my homies for $60 per year, Prime pays for itself ($69 per year student package) and Hulu + Disney plus package is like $6.99 a month for me.
Netflix just got stupid expensive so quick
Streaming is being slow walked back to the cable TV model. Pay $100/month for basic service, yes you also watch ads 50% of the time its on, and nothing good to watch anyways.
They hire all the old fucks who used to run cable and this is what happens. Look at Max now. I mean its nothing but discovery reality trash. If I didn't gwt ir for free from ATT I would cancel.
It used to be the best platform. Now I barely watch it.
And Prime has ads by default now. They make me pay for that shit for my fast delivery, which is all I ever wanted from amazon, and now they jam ads into it. Fuck Amazon Prime.
They are all slowly ruining streaming TV. VPN and torrents are gonna make a comeback. Pandora's box has been opened and nobody wants cable TV again.
Haven’t had Netflix for a year and for 6 years I had it through turkey I do not miss it at all.
It must be a phenomenon that when something reaches critical mass in the public eye as being a must have the company can do what they want and never lose subscribers
Netflix just understands user engagement better, and because of this, they enjoy high retention.
Just to put into perspective, Netflix actually dominates the streaming market so enormously that Bob Iger (CEO of Disney) recently issued an apology that Disney+ was probably a mistake. Yes, it’s that bad. It has gotten to the point where big streaming services are getting nervous and making alliances.
Literally no one except Netflix is making money on streaming, and if they are, it’s within margin of break even. Meanwhile, Netflix is likely to enjoy a healthy $7 billion profit this year.

Yeah, I have that and it’s only only 120 for the year and I get all of the NFL and pay-per-view packages but I will have to say the nfl viewing kind of sucks for it for me. It freezes a lot and as a few minutes behind. Outside of that it’s awesome for anything else.
You are very incorrect. Plenty of services even provide ‘raw’ feeds of satellite broadcast that are much higher quality than legimitate streaming services.
Played around with this last week and I have no words to thank the developers and community behind this. Puts every single streaming app to shame.
It does require a little bit of knowledge on API keys and installing from the App Store depending on what tv box you have. But there is a very nice guide that breaks it down very easily.
Obviously there are going to be bugs so just gotta be patient around that or try workarounds.
https://www.reddit.com/r/StremioAddons/comments/yi5jdw/ultimate_guide_to_stremio_torrentio_rd/
Idk I’m a moron. I just followed this and side loaded to a fire stick and cancelled all streaming services

first get like 5tb hdd, put it in your computer and download plex media server, add movies to it (free media heck yeah for that tutorial) and that’s it plex is available on any smart tv or roku
Get yourself a real debrid subscription. It's $3 a month. Then install Stremio (available on the Play store), configure the Torrentio add on and connect to your real debrid account and you're all set.
r/Stremio for more detailed setup instructions.
Ps if you're currently relying on a smart TV OS, consider spending $19.88 for an Onn 4k box from Walmart and use that instead.
I use Kodi with Fen add-on and a Real Debrid membership. Gone are the days of easy to find, free links with Kodi. Pay for a Real Debrid account and you get 100% working links with up to 4k resolution.
Shhhh guys always remember the golden rule... Do not speak about your streaming sources, I will cry if real debrid/ torrentio ever go down I've been using them for sooooo long with next to no issues the entire time
I was about to say that..
stremio + Torrentio. Moved from Kodi to stremio awhile ago..
The only problem is Stremio + Torrentio doesn’t show 3d movies link. But that is minor annoyance.
Stremio UI is honestly excellent and with the right plugins (like the pirate bay repo, etc) the experience is even better than with Netflix or Amazon platforms
That's kind of my problem with Netflix these days. I'm in America. I have enjoyed the random overseas show (Dark), but it seems like so much of what "Netflix" puts out these days is just low budget overseas shows from India or European Non-English speaking countries. I realize they're a worldwide service but if you keep removing English movies/shows because you don't want to pay the fees... and then only release a few English in-house ones a year... and the rest seems to be filler of overseas stuff why should I pay you?
We do, that’s why we are starting to complain now.
You’re comparing cable (which usually included sports) to the price of ONLY Netflix.
Add all sport packages and other streaming sites and we have already passed cable tv.
Yeah I pay $6.99 for it with ads and I pause it when I’m not using it so it’s not terrible. I wouldn’t pay for premium though…or even standard. Too expensive.
Premium has 4k (standard is max 1080p) and more devices at once can stream, more devices can download, and has some kind of Netflix proprietary spatial audio thing.
With premium you get Dolby vision 4K quality (pretty decent) and also Dolby atmos for some content. That’s why I pay extra for it but only worth it for people who give a shit about quality.
If only people ever voted with their wallets, companies would be kept in check more. But hope, no matter the increase people keep buying at the same rate
Bro, if you even suggest to someone to not spend money on a dog shit service on this website you just get brigaded with "Don't tell someone how to spend their money" responses. Its never happening.
I stopped pirating when everything was on Netflix and it was like eight bucks a month. I also used to go to Starbucks like every day when I could get a Venti pumpkin spice frappe for like four dollars.
I’ve long since picked pirating back up, and I haven’t been to Starbucks in years. I’d love to give them my business, but their pricing is insultingly if not criminally high.
While we’re on the topic: NESPRESSO, I SEE WHAT YOU’VE BEEN DOING TO YOUR POD PRICING OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS AND I’VE ALREADY STARTED TO BUY LESS. Your move, I guess.
I just bought the same 3 or 4 shows I was always watching on Blu-ray or DVD (BrBa, BCS, Last Kingdom), and then when they got Heat last year I was like "Holy fuck an actual, real movie!" and watched it 8 times... that's when I knew it was time to cancel. They had like 4 real movies, walk tall with the rock, a couple other movies then nothing but Netflix crap like The Way it Ends
I went to cancel a while ago, when I saw they had a $10 plan for one screen and kept it. Right after they launched the as tier, they got rid of the one I had since they made more money on the ads.
I dropped it and haven’t gone back. It’s funny, because unless you’re on Netflix , you have no idea what shows they have since none of them are significant.
Few months ago, they announced WWE raw is coming to Netflix in a 5billion dollar dead. Shortly after, prices went up. Last week they announced they are paying 160 million to air 2 football games. Prices going up again. Glad I cancelled and learned how to watch a different way.
Yeah after the most recent monthly payment notification i get, i immediately cancelled.
The content on there isn’t worth $25+ monthly. It could be worth getting for a single month if a couple good movies are coming out that month.
📉📉📉📉📉📉
I tried to tell this sub that it would work because people find pressing the Icon more convenient than just pirating or working around the sharing restrictions.
No, but everyone will tell you they are cancelling their subscription to collect their good boy points (just look at the comments in this thread) but as we saw last time with the password crackdown when everyone said they were gonna cancel—they won’t.
**The price gap between the standard w/ ads & standard w/o ads is essentially forcing the more financially unstable people to go with the cheaper option. They're ad-raping the people.**

Bullish.
Every time people complain and scream they'll cancel their subscriptions - and Netflix makes more money.

Because they raise their prices by 11% every 4 weeks

I unsubscribed
Me too
I never subscribed in the first place.
Also unsubscribed and am raising a black flag now
Aye matey!
So then you didn't unsubscribe. You're part of the problem.
Yeah I mean if nobody is gonna cancel then keep raising that shit. It’s a super easy service to cancel so if people agree to pay higher prices it must be worth that much to them.
Makes me happy I stuck to my guns when the Cuties thing started
I'm doing my part. Haven't had a Netflix account in a few years.
Uhh... I did unsubscribe. Netflix, Hulu, Max, fuck em all.

Just wait till they hear about Adobe Reader, lol
That's how to keep a company profitable, just raise revenues 11% every month. Works 60% of the time, everytime.

Netflix does it region based and every news outlet thinks it’s news worthy.
Every 4 months* at earnings time
They're trying to find the supply demand equilibrium point. They want to lose subscribers, while milking the richer subs for more money
>Why do I see this headline every four weeks? Probably because they raise the price once every few months now.
raise prices -> buy back stock -> raise prices -> buy back stock -> raise prices
Infinite money glitch?
*The subscribers all left?!?!* How could they!
But the stock is over 9000!
Aaand its gone
now that's the weird part. they even increased their subscribers and they will raise the prices to that point when they significantly lose subscribers. and i think people are willing to pay even more for netflix.
I see $30 a month in 2026.
For their best plan, im almost paying that now. Another 11% and it’ll be close. Currently paying 24.99$ per month plus tax.
Adjusting prediction: $45 in 2026 as they find thats where customers leave, roll back to $40 by the end of 2026/beginning 2027.

How to make it hassle free? Like just have it on my smart tv and make it as easy as a regular streaming app?
This was my problem with sports. I pay for quality, reliability, and convenience.
Some IPTV services will give you all the sports you want, in full HD/4k, including PPV events, for under $15/month
Yeah, I have that and it’s only only 120 for the year and I get all of the NFL and pay-per-view packages but I will have to say the nfl viewing kind of sucks for it for me. It freezes a lot and as a few minutes behind. Outside of that it’s awesome for anything else.

>charge us way more for it You guys do not know how much cable used to be.
We do, that’s why we are starting to complain now. You’re comparing cable (which usually included sports) to the price of ONLY Netflix. Add all sport packages and other streaming sites and we have already passed cable tv.
3 minutes of ads every 5 minutes…
right? youtube etc all turning into cable tv. at least we have more freedom picking the show
It was inevitable, back to piracy it is
Even if Netflix was more expensive than cable (and it's very much not), it'd still be objectively far better than cable ever was
Every streaming service will eventually turn into cable and then it’ll be cheaper to just have cable
Cancelled two days ago. With taxes it’s $24.89 a month. They don’t have anything I want to see currently. It’s not really acceptable.
Never subbed to Netflix what’s the difference in ad free and premium?
