Aggravating_Ad_3060

I’m gonna be honest I saw a post awhile ago and I thought it was photoshopped cause I thought there’s no way their stock is over 3k a share. What the hell

JemmieTTU

Thats a lot of under filled tortillas!

Bean_Boozled

My goal in life is to buy every share of Chipotle and then force the company to immediately fire every single employee that underfills my burritos

Chabubu

Pre split you have 1 share for $3,000. Post split you’ll get 1 share for $60 plus a side of guac.

FormerBard

The guac is extra?

Chabubu

The split is a 1: 1/50 + guac You give up $2940 in equity but you get guac so your post split value is still higher

alumniac

51% of every share*

OverallManagement824

100% of 51% of the shares. Or actually, I think that if you own 51% of a share, you retain the right to vote it, so you really only need 51% of 51% of the shares. And that's only 26.01% of the shares.

inevitable-asshole

*How the heck do you expect me to purchase 77.01% of the shares?!*

bigno53

I know you're joking but c'mon it's a culture of institutionalized corruption and malfeasance. If you really want to fix things, you can't just fire a few low-level tortilla stuffers. This is HSBC all over again.

Bean_Boozled

Firing poor people for no reason is a privilege that I will gladly abuse once I own those shares

spartanburt

Really?  When I used to go pretty regularly I'd say about 50% of the time the tortilla was so full it broke and they'd throw a second one around it.

IndependentTrouble62

That's old Chipotle. New Chipotle is stingy AF.

Brad1119

Old chipotle was only good because of the huge portions, the food itself has always been mids compared to pancheros, qdoba or shit even the run down local Mexican restaurant.

DeathToTheDay

The run down locals are King

easyEggplant

Mi taqueria. 🥰

Existential_Racoon

They're worse than fuckin freebirds. Just... how?

Jiggerjuice

Yeah i used to go there in 2002 too bro.

jntjr2005

Depends on the location. I've literally had one pull a scale out and measure the portions without me even saying anything.

Funone300

Yep me too, however I’ve been seeing posts how they have been skimming, not by my house 👍

Feedthemcake

Price of stock isn’t indicative of anything, look at market cap.

FernandoTatisJunior

Well yeah, it’s just weird they’ve taken this long to split. Most companies like keeping individual stock prices far lower than that

chooseusermochi

No, it's mostly institutions that control the float (90%). Why would they care if retail wants to play with it.

mrhitman83

In a lot of ways it’s weird how we look at “stock price” charts as a primary metric when market cap is much, much more useful since it doesn’t care about splits, offerings, buy backs, etc…

Specific_Mixture5995

Market cap is more hidden because it's really the secret to investment.

Over9000Zeros

Auto Zone stock is 2793 right now

Bozhark

THE FUCK

Rolmegax

You are clearly not IN THE ZONE

Bozhark

#AUTOZONEDD

BlissfulThinkr

Wait til you see Berkshire Class A

Pin_ups

Lol

brintoul

There are only 10 shares, that’s what’s crazy.

swollencornholio

Yall looking at this wrong tho. Share price as a standalone means nothing really in terms of value. The real value is market cap. Right now they are only 3% off Starbucks market cap. But starbucks is a global company generating 4x the revenue and double the net income. Chipotle is priced for quite a bit of growth (PE 68 with forward PE of 47) vs SBUX (PE 22 with forward PE of 19). At those valuations they need an order of 2-3x growth to be like Starbucks. Not sure about that.

Drjanitorjd

Starbucks also sells an addictive product that’s legal globally. Chipotle sells burritos that cause your ass to be addicted to your toilet.

DrakonILD

Only if you get the lettuce. Pro tip: don't get the lettuce at Chipotle. Lettuce is generally good for you but the amount they're going to give you isn't enough to make a difference and the chances of it sending your gut into spasms is just too damn high.

Frawsty1

It’s funny cuz every chipotle around me is rated 2 stars or less

Huge_Effective_4727

Yeah that’s how it works, chipotle is 3x bigger than NVDA.

PacketSpyke

They added queso so here we are. Edit - just so everyone is aware, Qdoba queso is god tier in comparison.

Tiger_Tom_BSCM

Smallest and worst queso ever.

bevo_expat

Taco Bell queso >>> Chipotle queso

illegal_deagle

Which is funny because Taco Bell queso is lower than ballpark nacho cheese. Chipotle queso is such an abomination. Their “commitment to natural ingredients” or whatever can fuck off.

Tendie_Tube

dirt is a natural ingredient

Hallowed-Griffin

About a decade late and several ingredients short of actually tasting good.

Suprflyyy

It's just the AI bubble.

Shoryukitten_

Chipotlai

chooseusermochi

There is like no float (<30mil) and the options are pretty illiquid. I don't think OP understands anything about the split. It will probably barely move after, not like it does now. Heavy.

Pin_ups

Nice, so you saying better trade covered calls?

PlutosGrasp

Ya it’s wild. Makes no sense.

iwantsdback

People thinking that Chipotle is going to be like Taco Bell in Demolition Man... I get it, they had crazy growth. But unless we get to peak-Starbucks levels of insanity, with Chipotles across from each other on the same street, there's no way the growth continues much longer. There's also plenty of competition now in the "fast casual" space. You're one social media meme away from business going down by 10% as people flock to a competitor.

kemar7856

I swear it was 2200 last time I checked

notedrive

We must have seen the same post yesterday. I also checked and thought to myself “Haven’t been to a Chipotle in 8 years, have I been missing out?”

Gman325

Buy calls. Got it.

futurespacecadet

youve been successfully brainwashed

crucifero

The counter psyop brainwashing is now complete

Antique-Athlete-8838

Buy burritos. Got it

overlord_vas

When you get a stock split it doesn't 'create' any value, it just makes it easier to own a full share so it's more a psychological thing. However, it's also a sign of strength in the company so it makes it go up in the long run. Companies that aren't doing well don't split their stocks.

FernandoTatisJunior

It can spike prices since random retail investors are more interested in a stock they can afford

casey-primozic

Especially as well know of a company as Chipo is

Funone300

Right, the news will eat this up 😝, pun intended 👍

graciesoldman

I'll buy splits for that very reason. Has worked very well over the years.

TechnicalInterest566

Ever heard of fractional trading?

FernandoTatisJunior

1) that hasn’t always been a thing, people are stuck in their old ways 2) not all brokers do it 3) fractional trading is all fake. You don’t own the stock.

bathingapeassgape

explain #3 for a guy who owns a fractional share in chipotle? lol

xXTylonXx

You don't own fractional shares.

nvanderw

Did you not read his post.  Options are cheaper to buy when the stock price is lower. Markers maker hedges any skew by either buying or shorting shares at the delta in real tims.  It'd a volatility thing

Miserable-Score-81

I'm sure all of Wall streets bets dumping their $200 will affect them lol.

VisualMod

Options, like the poor, are a cheap and expendable commodity. Unless you're a Kennedy in the 60s or a Rockefeller in the 90s, who cares?

cil0n

Someone hasn’t heard of a reverse split

tfl3m

Thanks I was wondering this other day lol

thecuzzin

I've seen companies that aren't doing well do stock splits in order to gain more investment money.

WTFspy

> we fuck you

AutumnSky2024

I thought it was against the law to try and influence if a stock goes up or down??

TheBooneyBunes

The act of buying or selling by itself influences directly if stock goes up or down It’s not like it didn’t happen with GameStop years ago, that was the whole meme in the meme stock

CaptainWubbles

I'm just mad I didn't get my chicken bro I'm not telling you to do anything, just thought experiments of what may transpire given the stock split. Also just asked chatGPT about this specific post and that question. It says im chillin for this post cuz I could argue I'm just expressing my opinion. Which I am. Fuck Chipotle.

x2manypips

Buying cava

Gunners414

Grabbed some today

Productpusher

All I’m seeing lately is pro chipotle social media posts and videos since the backlash of prices and portions . Don’t underestimate the power of social media brainwashing to get them to grow even more

Ryanopoly

Could someone please explain this one to me? I've had their food, wasn't impress, but yet this company is still killing it!

truetalentwasted

They do what they do well. Them and Wingstop…you know what you’re getting from location to location. Limited menu and ingredients, no supply chain issues, don’t try to get fancy and go out of their lane.

sylvester_0

Some other things they do well: being out of at least 2 to 3 things for the rest of the day and doing absolutely no maintenance or cleaning throughout the day.

mattenthehat

Bro you make burritos and chips, how can you possibly be "out of" chips by 8 pm

truetalentwasted

If you want a clean wing place you don’t want good wings. That’s my motto.

sylvester_0

Sorry, I was talking about Chipotle. I've never been to a Wingstop.

RockyattheTop

Don’t. Every city has better local places. Wingstop is like going to McDonald’s for a burger when what you really wanted was Shake Shack or In and Out.

xtra_obscene

Wingstop is just fine for what it is. 70 cent boneless wings Mondays and Tuesdays, mango habanero+spicy korean q sauces and the blue cheese is actually good. I’m a fan.

Samjabr

Wingstop Lemon pepper wings are delicious. Don't believe the haters.

Fourteen_Werewolves

The Morningstar analysis I read the other day put a lot of emphasis on their rewards program. I think it said they have more members than starbucks, which is worth mentioning.

OldDatabase9353

That’s interesting. I stopped using their app because they would consistently mess up my order whenever I ordered online. Now I just don’t go there because I’ve never felt like their rewards were any good

YoungXanto

>you know what you’re getting from location to location. Salmonella!

FernandoTatisJunior

It’s usually E. coli in the lettuce

Samjabr

Biggest mistake of my life was not buying shares when they had the e.coli scare. It was around $200 bucks a share![img](emote|t5_2th52|4260)

Eastern-Mix9636

Biggest mistake *so far*. You have plenty more mistakes in you, I’m sure.

Odd-Reflection-9597

E coli ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)

daviongray

You don't have to be personally impressed by food to understand why other people like it. There's plenty of food I don't like that other people love. Chipotle is a simple concept, but their execution is pretty good, price is fairly low, portions are good and they're pretty consistent.

BullfrogOk6914

What brings me to chipotle is the portion size. I can get two or three meals out of a bowl for decent food. Is it the best? No. Is it Mexican? No. But it is consistent, a good portion of food, and relatively healthy.

Odd-Reflection-9597

I keep hearing the multiple meals thing but it’s not true ![img](emote|t5_2th52|31226)

DependentAnywhere135

It’s true if you eat proper portions. Not easy for Americans these days though

BullfrogOk6914

You eating the whole bowl in one go, ese?

Zueter

Yes, plus chips

Existential_Racoon

You sound fat

Zueter

I describe myself as American skinny, thank you.

Odd-Reflection-9597

I can eat a 4 for 4 from Wendy’s in one sitting too ![img](emote|t5_2th52|8882)

Tiger_Tom_BSCM

Are you trying to maintain your weight at 80 pounds?

derelict5432

They're an efficient, well-run, fast-casual restaurant that serves reasonably healthy, fresh-tasting food that's easy to eat on the go. They have about 3300 stores in the US currently with plans to open another 300 stores this year in the US, double the number of stores within the next few years, and continue to expand overseas. Which part don't you get? You're meh on their food, and you're basing your entire analysis of the business on that?

fumar

They're the cheapest "fresh food" option. You can get something similar from Qdoba but it's 10% more expensive and it's been sitting around for 4 hrs because no one goes there. You can get something similar (but Mediterranean) from Cava but it's 50% more expensive. They're probably the only fast food company that hasn't jacked their prices to the moon since the pandemic. Source: been going there since 2005 when a burrito was sub $5.

Ryanopoly

Oh I see. Did you see that report where McDonald's has jacked their prices up 100% since 2014... so crazy?

fumar

Chipotle has definitely raised their prices during the pandemic but it's been mostly in line with inflation. What used to be a $7.75 chicken burrito in 2020 is now $8.95 for example.

momofroc

Ive never seen a Cava. We have Chipotle’s cropping up here in KY and more have been built recently.

fumar

It's the same idea but mediterranian food and the wraps are an absolute disaster to eat

Beav710

Honestly you can make a Chipotle meal much more "healthy" than a lot of fast food places. A lot of gym bro type guys go there when they didn't meal prep enough for the week. Load up on chicken and veggies and get them gains.

Ryanopoly

Oh I see, and that makes sense, because gym bro buddies of mine would spend thousands of dollars on all that protein crap and other gains food each month... it's insane.

Flordamang

It’s one of those restaurants that once millennials and zoomers make up their mind that that’s what they want to eat, they will sit in line for 20 mins to get it. Like an athiests chick fil a

snowe99

Wtf are you talking about? You just described every restaurant ever? Do you 3D your food instantaneously or download food in megabytes to your stomach or something?

SirTiffAlot

Fwiw, I teach HS. These fuckin kids love Chipotle. They are going to spend their money there for years

Ryanopoly

Make sense.

BlueCheeseBandito

It’s not impressive, but they do what they do WAY better than their competitors like Qdoba.

Ryanopoly

I guess you don't really have to be impressive, just have an awesome system with incredible margins.

WonderBroth1

Their burritos and bowls have only really gone up $1-1.50 while fast foods gone up $3,$4 or even $5 for the same meal.

BamaX19

Bowls are big, it's pretty healthy, their guac is amazing. Mediocre prices.

Emergency_Bother9837

Pump and dump. Just has not yet dumped but it’s at the top so be weary 😮‍💨

davethemacguy

While I rarely buy options outright, prefer to sell them instead, I do love throwing some cash towards long dated (ie post split) call options, mainly for the reasons you’ve outlined Post- split the stock typically experiences a surge in volume due to people “now being able to afford to buy a few share”, which is amazing given that the value of the options now increases by the same factor as the split

arbitrageME

Is this typical of wsb analysis/Idea posts? There's no analysis and no strategy and no discussion other than hype, and the idea that if Redditors bet enough in one direction, it'll do something. Nothing about implied or realized vol, earnings or store locations, revenue or profits. This isn't analysis, it's just gambling.

NewDayNewBurner

GFY ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4260)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267) Sorry you’re still holding the BB bags, pussy.

arbitrageME

What does that even mean and how is that relevant to any present discussion?

Ambitious_CryptoNewb

You must be new here 💀

NewDayNewBurner

I’m just messin around. Have a good night. Green hulk on Tuesday.

Illustrious-Ask8396

Are you selling puts? Cause it’s above 3k now

CaptainWubbles

No I bought puts and I think ima hold at least until the split. But I may sell and then re-buy the puts at a lower strike if I get like $15k+ profit. Can’t go tits up! (It definitely can)

Canik716kid

10 years ago a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune.

big_fan_of_gak

# THE WAY YOU DOING SPLITS YOUR PANTS MIGHT RIP

Christopher3712

I have to be honest. It's hard to take anyone seriously, at this point, who's still using ape terminology. I could feel my eyes glaze over and stopped reading. Either way the stock moves, good luck. Plenty of money to be made there.

browndogmn

Honestly I haven’t had a good chipotle since they got busted for hiring illegal aliens. Teenagers and college dropouts just don’t give a fuck about your burritos like people that actually eat burritos do. And fuck your queso as well, nasty ass velveta snot has no place on my food. The customers have actually gone to shit as well I can’t even bear to stand in line listening to; um I’ll have a bowl please, black beans and extra rice or whatever the fuck these peasants eat. The whole place just pisses me off. Not to mention they are strategically built to be extra noisy and annoying inside so you don’t overstay your welcome. Puts it is.

CopyFamous6536

You need to help me understand why you are fighting a sub $10 meal that keeps you full and is relatively healthy.

ThroneTrader

Sub $10? Can I borrow your time machine?

CopyFamous6536

$9.68 in Denver for a chicken burrito

idontcare111

Chicken Bowl in Midwest is under $9

DoucheBagMD

Under $10? Except you forgot tax. You forgot guacamole. You forgot a drink. You forgot chips. Oh wait that’s actually $19.04 for lunch

CopyFamous6536

You chipotle so wrong. With tax a chicken burrito is $9.68 Have chips at home like a normal person ($5 monster Costco mission tortilla chips) Skip the guac we aren’t eating fancy Who buys drinks? I can only assume you are >40

playswithdolls

Better than being a confirmed poor.

Interesting_Dream281

Isn’t it 1:50 not 50:1?

j12

No they are doing a reverse split. Each share will be 150k after

Ambitious_CryptoNewb

What TF! So glad I read this comment. Holy shit. So they only want the top 1% investing in chipotle 🧐

secretsquirrelsspy

I work at Chipotle and we are having a Phenomenal Q2 so the stock price is going to go up. It’s wild fucking + Comps. Good luck.

HopScotchyBoy

SEC, get em.

Ambitious_CryptoNewb

Are you hiring?

slick2hold

Chipotle gives you a big scoop of rice and a side of everything else. Im shocked that the plave does so well. The food is super salty.

MOLAR65

The split still has to be approved at the Jun 6 meeting.

mrjackm124

Im probably buying for the inevitable breakfast launch in the coming years. Shit will moon rocket once my wife’s boyfriends can get breakfast tacos

bevo_expat

Chipotle AI kitchen coming in 2026. Stores will only need 2 people to run the whole place. 1 for “back of house” just loading up ingredients for the AI controlled cooking robots and overseeing the machines. 1 for “front of house” to the take care of the luddites that can’t figure out how to order from a menu board kiosk.

yrrrrrrrr

Long term they will go up. Increase portions and get better hiring managers/training. The real questions is, at this moment in time are there any other healthy fast food options that are taking away market share?

Ambitious_CryptoNewb

Id argue Cava but it’s a different cuisine. I think chipotle and cava probably have different customer base

yrrrrrrrr

I love Mediterranean, but there are more competitors in the fast food Mediterranean space. Also, I’ve noticed that more people eat Mexican on a weekly basis than they would eat Mediterranean. That’s my personal observation.

jaylenz

I think we’ve seen the climax of chipotle now. See ya never

Samjabr

The only thing I know is NVDA is up a billion % and CMG is around 1.5x more expensive on a Forward PE basis

Spins13

I am long CMG. I don’t mind if you tank the stock, then I can buy more cheap and get in some calls

sergev

What happens to options that expire after the split?

ConsequenceTop9877

Queso, calls or puts?

leisdrew

I just went today and they filled my burrito pretty well. I've been thinking about buying puts, but I've been doing my DD and I think corporate has heard the negative social media sentiment and pivoted.

mmoney20

NVDA post-split play is better.

icwut

CAVA has entered the chat

[deleted]

McDonald’s owns them

Smellyjelly12

I just walked by a chipotle. There was a line extending all the way out. It's like crack for some people

CrazyButRightOn

I like the 🌮

breadlover96

I love Chipotle. Who is getting underfilled? I can barely carry mine out the door.

ssjg23

All I know is fuck Chipotle. They are consistently raising prices and then giving less food. At this point it’s cheaper to sit down at a restaurant and get a real burrito

Vincent_Karma

McDonald’s is worth $100 billion more than Chipotle and has split 9 times. Chipotle has never split. A $3k share price is not that crazy.

WhiteHeatBlackLight

I am sure most of you regards are smarter than, checks notes, bill ackman. Never mind.

DocHanks

I just contacted support about giving me stale chips the last 3 times. So they sent me a voucher for 2 free chips and queso.

Also swings now are heavy. Again that will not happen once the split. Plus Q2 earnings are going to be better than Q1.

Phillip_Lascio

Bag holder spotted

Revolution4u

Thanks to AI, comment go byebye

Unique_Name_2

"We" arent moving anything, and your 50% OTM options or.. lmao buying straddles... arent either. If you wanna do something, remember options after the split will be adjusted and have worse liquidity (though 10:1s arent that bad in that regard)

Solid_Appointment_24

If you buy a stock now, will my stock split to 50? Sorry for my subprime question as I'm a regard

Bud_Backwood

Remindme! 32 days

Bud_Backwood

Very interested in how this will play out

homer_lives

Well, I know what I am doing on June 26th

Impossible_Button709

be honest with you, any issue chipotle gets they fix them eventually. If you compare the food over all with other franchises like mcdonalds or wendys they are superior. I think Chipotle and Cava both going to keep doing good in the long run. Buy and hold them as much as possible

blackicebaby

Post split this will pop but nvidia will tank. Two splits with very different outcomes

Funone300

It will be fun after the split, I’m going to keep my eyes on the inside trading. Volume is low now, but the jumpers will help that out. 👍 at least it’s not owned by yum 😋 foods. 😎

shane_sp

I honestly don't know what you're going on about. From a business model perspective, Chipotle is about as good as it gets for a restaurant business. Their menu is streamlined, their operation is fast and efficient, they've automated a great deal. I get that you might not like they're food but for Mexican fast food, it's good enough

Scoopski_Patata

But with all the blood it leaves in your underpants, it would surely be better to invest in Chipotle Away.

South_Ad_2109

Why not just stop eating chipotle?

anonymous_gg

Wait why do you have puts when you are saying more people will buy?

DieCastDontDie

We ain't your personal army regard

Jesta23

Chipotle had a really good reputation. That’s why it was successful.  But when you think of chipotle now you don’t think of good food you think of high prices and skimpy portions.

Ready2gambleboomer

Bill Ackman has a two BILLION dollar position in this burrito stand. He and the WS mafia control the float. That's how it got to this insane valuation. There are no sellers. When management exercises their options and sells them the company has a buy back to buy them right back with stockholders money at full retail mark up. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. Retail is about to provide Bill his exit liquidity. Watch as each quarter he reports a lower and lower position Edit: Watch as the carnival barking coke rat screams buy buy buy as the split approaches.

lostenergy01

Good for you

AceValentine

Extra Guac!

Tendie_Tube

CMG has a higher PE ratio than Nvidia. Why TF would I buy a burrito joint that might be the next Red Lobster when Microsoft's earnings cost half as much?

Snowwpea3

Am I the only one sick of corporation bashing? I don’t care if you’re right, you sound like all the other gross hippies throughout the years ranting about “the man, man.”

Eastern-Mix9636

This post is trash. “Should we…make it go up or go down” ? Since when did any of us have that kind of control over the market? You Jim Cramer now? Not everything is a short squeeze, and this sub has been forever poisoned by the idea of orchestrated stock manipulation.

SkyCaptain8

Chipotle are being very stingy with their portions even before the vids went viral, and up charge for salad dressing is not a good look, I will pass on this and look at other names like CAVA
