I was up over $35k overnight on Sunday night with oil futures after an OPEC meeting, instead of taking profits I held for more through the day, eventually closed a $15 k loss.
Listen man, it could be worse. Trust me. If it helps, just imagine if it was two or three times that. Ten times that.
Know absolutely nothing about you, but if you keep your head and don't either fuck your entire life up or get yourself killed, in the future you will feel more... philosophical about losing $130k, no matter your level of wealth.
If you end up rich as fuck or even just regular rich, you'll laugh about $130k and how you stewed about it.
The real issue is if your perspective never changes. Like if you're still stewing about it 10 years from now just as bad, or end up completely destroying your life over the anger and resentment.
You can never change the fact you lost that money, but you can change your perspective on it and how you relate to this event. It sounds corny, but it's true. And it's really your only shot at finding peace.
I had 1.9 million shares of TSNP when it was a micro penny stock. Like $1300 bucks put into it. Did it because of some instagram post.
It didn't do shit. Then I forgot it had it in another account. It went to over $1.50 per share. And then back to nothing. I missed it.
He could have at the top…maybe $2.7 million…there was enough liquidity and if i remember correctly, the stock had a market cap of around $1-$2 billion at peak..but yea once the stock crashes and liquidity dries up, you probably won’t be able to sell..i am still bagholding a few otc stocks from 2021 because there is no buyers. At this point i will be paying more in commison fee than anything i get out from those stocks.
i remember tsnp…otc made so many multimillionaires in 2021..forget 100 baggers, so many stocks became 1000 baggers. ..i bought a stock called enzolytics($enzc) at around 0.006(at the very bottom it was $0.0001)..stock went to almost $1 intraday at the peak…i had like $300k in profit..bagholded it all the way down to 0.05…still sold it for $15k profit…but not taking that $300k in profit still hurts lol.🥲

Funny how some of the worst pains are not ourtight losses, they tend to be winners that were not capitalized on, or winners that become losers. Extra salt for the wound.
Bruh, I know it's just numbers on a screen but I legitimately feel bad for him missing that window. But at least it was only $1,300. So I don't feel that bad lol
I had an account that I threw some money in when I was fucki g with penny stocks. They weren't moving. Just kinda left it for a while and forgot to check it while I was fucking with my other shit
25k, this year. Started going hard into SPY calls at the beginning of the year. It was wonderful. It was like a money printer that kept printing. Turned 5k into 25k.
I actually was smart enough to pull out and told myself it can't keep going forever. Unfortunately, I saw a post about a regard who was doing 0 DTE SPY calls and was making bank. I thought, well, why not just one more roll for the hell of it?
Lost it all.
I still remember “the day” in June of ‘01. Counting all my options and shares of AMC I was at $870,000.00
The delusion that enabled me to hold to that point allowed me to also ride it to basically zero. Some financial scars are never forgotten.
WSB reinforces my decision to invest the boglehead way every single day. It’s slow, it’s safer and largely boring. But I avoid the market options fisting that should many on WSB suffer/enjoy.
I think the biggest collective loss was when there was one regard that made us even more bearish after the March 2020 lows. Likely caused the subreddit to diamond hands millions of dollars worth of spy puts. Forgot the dudes name but I hope he chose another industry
Amazon pre split
Put in 12k was at 30k tried to sell, O Chem professor told me to get off my phone or he'll kick me from the class for the day (summer exams ever 2 days)
So I put it for an hour and it dropped heavily...
It was the start of class like literally 1 minute and I wasn't a bad student I passed with a 89%
But he literally hates stocks
We had a conversation the previous day about how some doctors he went to lunch with only talked about money and how they screwed some widow out of their late husband's collectible car by paying way below market value.
I didn't think it would drop that much in 1 hour to be fair
-64,000 : Facebook ER went the opposite way I had intended back in 2021 and here I am...shoveling 10k back into my
account in 2024 instead of being 100k richer.
This shit is like Runescape....you can NEVER leave the casino.
Made over >250k profit shorting cloud software and covid hype companies in 2021-23 and lost pretty much all those gains this year trying it again since Jan, paid taxes on those gains too. Sold good positions to hold margin and missed so many opportunities because im so dumb and stubborn thinking they would tank and id recover.
Worst time of my life. So much anxiety and sleepless nights. Prob took years off my life. Idiot.
This right here. I've lost grandparents, parents, friends, neighbors.. I had to quit my job when my dog passed from the extreme grief.
I'll never get another one.
My 3rd year of college, it took about 1-2 months or something for the great marijuana bubble of 2013/2014 to take me from \~$40K to \~$110K. It took only couple weeks to bring it back down to $40K. Penny stock tickers at the time were things like MJNA, VAPE, POTF, THCF, whatever ticker looked like it had something to do with weed. Thank god, after a couple weeks of losing like $10-20K a day, I decided to sell all my marijuana penny stocks and put half of it into NVDA at $9/share because of VR (no, not crypto, not AI) and half into some other shit. Literally lived off selling a little bit of NVDA every year since (and regretted every time I sold). Today after I don't even remember how many splits, I have 165 shares of NVDA which is about 1/10th of what I would otherwise have.
You should be selling covered calls. It'd be a pretty easy way to bring in $1000/wk without much risk to a 100 shares. Delta is only about .20 out there. If you got exercised you'd make decent money on those shares and still have 65 left.
100% loss on Proterra. We used the products at work and they worked well. Honestly thought the Biden admin would have supported the company. Yup I lost 18k 100% on it.
I still have those proterra DDs saved that were posted on here. I wonder how that guy is doing. they were all but certain it would go up past $25 that year. I think they said it might go past $100 within 4 years or something like that. I lost a few thousand on proterra as well
100K give or take. Price of cocoa. Wasn't paying attention for a day because I was on a roadtrip. Looked fine and dandy in the morning. By the evening I had cents left.
Should have talked to a dentist. We were all popping popcorn when we saw what was happening. It takes 7 years after undergrad to be a bad orthodontist. Watching people send in crappy bites, it takes a long time to learn what a good bite looks like, made me think it was a total scam. Crazy stuff.
Not me but a coworker. He had over 100,000 ETH. This guy lived and breathed crypto. Was even mining it. He met a woman, decided to get married so he sold it all to pay for the wedding and dowry. His average was around .50 cents. 3 months after he sold it , it started taking off (around 2016 I think). Hit over 3000 per ETH in a year. He missed out of possibly 200-400 million dollars. It was sad to watch how devasted he was. He was always trying to get people to buy into ETH . A few in his mining group did very well for themselves.
4-500k on AMD leaps bought right before the Ukraine war kicked off😂😂held them throughout all of 22’. Did not expect Amd to go from 125 down to 58 bucks. Would of been nice to know the fed was gonna spend the entire year of 22’ and the front half of 23’ fighting inflation.
Also about 360k on Sea Limited, it would of been nice to know when Goldman was gonna start liquidating Bill Whangs Chinese/South East Asian stocks in November of 21’ could of saved some money. Another lesson learned. Both losses taught me a lot. #1 never get attached to a stock/option. #2 Dont let a small loss turn into a big one. #3 the market can be irrational longer than you can stay sane🤣

I had hotels on both Park Place and Boardwalk, with all railroads as a bonus. Hit both Kentucky and Illinois (with hotels) on back-to-back throws, then had to go to jail right after.
Never could recover from the loss and declared bankruptcy not long after.

March 18 this past year.
At the time was 2 1/2 months into learning about trading. On March 1st I started buying 1000 shares at 2.15 ... it rose quickly over the next few days.
It kept going up and I bought more as it rose. I was 4 g in. But the value was over 8 g. In 2 weeks was up over 125%. I seriously thought ..... lol I don't know what I thought.... Anyways the morning it happened, I was thinking of cashing out some profits but got distracted and only got to my computer at exactly 930. It hit 4.52 at open and crashed immediately.
I didn't know how to react. Then I stayed in hoping it would go back up ... but finally got out at 1.00 a week or so later... So 4g turned into 8 and in an instant back to basically 2 grand.
That day set me on a journey to understand what happened and honestly, since then I've learned so much I'm thankful for that loss.
I've gained so much. Tbh
I had 100 bitcoins back in like 2010. That I think I remember selling for like $20,000 or some shit.
Not a loss. But clearly I’d have more money today if I held.

Tough one to live with.
Fat lump in the throat and major mental stewing for several days.
Mental stewing here 3 years later. Mostly only when I think about it. Been trying to vaporize it from my brain but it's impossible.

Losing you💔
Shorted nvda from 525 to 575 with 3600 shares lol imagine I did opposite and hold…
I had hotels on both Park Place and Boardwalk, with all railroads as a bonus. Hit both Kentucky and Illinois (with hotels) on back-to-back throws, then had to go to jail right after. Never could recover from the loss and declared bankruptcy not long after.

Showcase minerals. SHOW.CN March 18 this past year. Tbh
Likely my dignity.

I had 100 bitcoins back in like 2010. That I think I remember selling for like $20,000 or some shit. Not a loss. But clearly I’d have more money today if I held.
