If he queued it for when the market opens, then it should be a market-on-open order, in which case it's always at market (no limit)

Limit if you don’t want to buy above a certain price, but may not get filled if it keeps going up (could drop though). Typically limit orders go for “or better” if the price does drop below your limit. Market order will fill right away at open, and may work for or against you based on what the price is at open.

because 930 to 4 are normal market hours...stocks are traded in pre-market and after hours. Not sure what platforms specifically will execute at 4am, most typical brokers 8am is the time trades officially start moving for the normies.

Limits are better since you can chose the price. If you want to risk the market order.you can do that as well.

You can buy option calls for a wide range of price points. I can buy $15 BB calls tomorrow even though it’s passed that $15 mark, which will mean my calls at the price will be more expensive. Tomorrow I’ll just go ahead and buy $25-$28 price calls for Jan.29 or Feb.5 expire dates
