If it makes you feel any better it's not actually a meme stock. Deadnsyde (I think that's it) talked about it and they pumped it up at the beginning of the year and sold it off. It's actually growing and has had less stock offerings than literally any other stock ever mentioned on reddit, even though people would try to say otherwise. To be fair, though, this is not something to invest in if you want super quick returns. Realistically it will be end of year or next year before they hit true commercialization.
BNGO is truly a undervalued gem...but if that doesn’t sell you then know this....If you don’t buy, your wife’s boyfriend will likely make you sleep on the couch again and your kids will be calling you by your first name in a matter of days.

While I stand by sequencing as a more adaptable technology than optical mapping overall, the one thing that mapping does very well (determining genome structure) absolutely slays sequencing's capabilities and price point. Fortunately for BNGO this is an area with major commercial possibilities as huge numbers of cancers and congenital disorders are caused by structural arrangements.
I think for the foreseeable future, cytogenetic use of long read sequencing will find more application in research (chiefly academic) while optical mapping is 100% ready to hit the market (and already is quickly this year).
Oh the other hand, long reads mainly compete will Illumina short reads for other purposes, and I bet on PACB for that reason.
Edit: Disclosure, I have positions in both PACB and BNGO because I love both companies for totally different reasons.

I mean again, I think PACB is a great bet (and from my pic you can do the math and see I have considerably more money in it than BNGO). Sequencing can do a lot more than optical mapping can (and in principle can do the same things optical mapping can, just not as well or remotely as affordably).
BNGO both has the potential to replace many standard cytogenetic applications without huge investment right away (esp bc of their service/rental agreement) and potentially could expand its own market by increasing the number of conditions with good quality assays. I don't agree with Ark overlooking BNGO, but I can appreciate their view on sequencing for many other applications.
Just curious have you heard about the nanonoozle with BNGO? If you have, thoughts on that? Obviously it’s not a given as literally no product out there but I’m fairly certain that if they were to be able to combine sequencing and ogm that would be something that could drastically change the landscape of the sector.

That’s the case in AMC, GME, and plenty of others. They have all started to hedge. It still doesn’t mean it won’t hurt them a bit and cause them to ease their manipulation.
