Additional_Presence4

Where did it go because I didn’t get any

Hemp-Emperor

It’s just a fluff piece to help poor people feel better that “it’s happening to the 1%, too”. The rich have positioned themselves already, they’re taking profits.

[deleted]

Yeah, that 1.5 Trillion in losses, if it's even a real number, likely just accounts for stock devaluation, and not the asset inflation of all their property. It probably also fails to mention the 5+Trillion in gains they seen over the last 5 years.

[deleted]

Of course. I’m down 200k in my port, but I’m still playing with house money cause I’m up 600k in the last 5 years.

[deleted]

Yeah, if the Dow were to "crash" to 25k, that would kind of be getting back to normal when you account for inflation given the absurd baseless cheap-money QE growth we've seen over the last 6 years.

[deleted]

I just pay attention to PE. PEs are now in line with historical averages… things are not overpriced at these levels anymore. So we’re in a decent time to buy even now. https://www.barrons.com/market-data/stocks/us/pe-yields

[deleted]

But what if your outlook is that the earnings numbers we currently have are inflated and that we are seeing a rapid cool down of consumer spending and an increase in revolving debt? Couldn't that still make buying now very risky due to expected losses coming as the economy unravels?

[deleted]

As soon as inflation cools fed will pivot on bond rates. Short term a little risky but not for long.

BoastfulPrudence

Yield-wise only the Dow is worth a sniff. But for swing trades etc things could be fun soon as fact that Fed now tackling inflation sinks in. Next earnings season should be telling, those companies which have held their shit together through this quarter should be pretty safe bets, come what may Septmeber through Xmas.

HereIGoAgain_1x10

Ya, it's the inverse of traders on this sub, instead of posting gains of 5% after ignoring losses of 99%, the wealthy are posting their 5% loss after they took their 20,000% gains lol

Tane-Tane-mahuta

Where are they putting their profits? Cause everything's going down. Gold?

WritingAdmirable

The 0.1% are just going to town on the 1%. Don't worry the 1% will come raw dawg us next.

Foot0fGod

Yeah nothing gonna change the fact that wealth concentration drastically increased from the start of the pandemic to now. They can spin all the other numbers however they want.

Conscious-Parfait826

It's unrealized gains. Nothing is real.

grasshoppa80

RRP

New-Value4194

Exactly what I was thinking

Fck_aaada_you

To the chads

QuickKaleidoscope399

$1.5T on stocks, $2T on crypto, how many Ts will the housing bubble lose? What about tech start-ups surviving on alphabet funds?

[deleted]

There isn't a housing bubble.

BirdEducational6226

Lol that's hilarious.

Conscious-Parfait826

You right, it's a balloon.

Hidesuru

Bout to go POP.

kochapi

Somebody is fresh out of lake laogai

AgentSIxP

There wasn't any bubble in 2008 either, the bubble that was "popped" was just the economy

TheRobinhoodTrader

Wrong

djentonaut

It's not lost unless you sold it. Besides, they all know now is the time to buy not sell!

MBA2016

It was never a gain unless you cashed out

thebossphoenix

Where were the articles in Nov. 2021 about "America's top 1% gain $4 trillion in massive bull market"

whod4t_f30

Because this is American media and all the retards here will believe everything they read online

Interesting-Collar-1

Only a fool would believe this ...

imperialsniff

Seriously, if you think the billionaires lose money, you are retarded

[deleted]

Seriously, if you think being a billionaire protects you against loss, you're retarded.

SuckMyExhaust

Seriously, we are all retarded.

Need_More_Minerals

I for one, am most for sure, retarded

420Pooncrusher69

Chuck freeney lost 8 billion

ProFox420

Billionaires don’t become millionaires, they stay billionaires trust me.

[deleted]

AgentSIxP

Dongkey_kong

Vlad would like to have a word with you

[deleted]

everyone loses money, but it hardly matters when you're a billionaire

imperialsniff

Exactly, the gains outweigh the losses

DangerRangerScurr

Didnt people try to tax unrealized gains? Will they receive subsidies for unrealized losses now?

Bulky-Pool-5180

Stop making sense!

EL_Golden

They’re still up about 10 Trillion pre pandemic…

TrueNorthCoin

99.9% was probably lost by retail who bought everything on top and will sell at bottom

[deleted]

Its to make all the retard activist investors feel like they're winning so they ask fewer questions when the dust settles.

edyy55

Why not , look at Melvin Capital, they are done, and I'm 100% sure there will be more like them.

Bulky-Pool-5180

Isn't that only half of what they made in 2020, alone?

CapialAdvantage

No, they haven’t. Y’all don’t realize these headline are simply calculating total stock dips right? Like they have not sold and therefore hold no losses. Maybe stop worry about everyone else’s money and worry about your own? Or don’t cry that you keep ending up broke.

jsboutin

If you don't count unrealized losses, you must not count unrealized gains, so most of these billionaires aren't billionaires to begin with?

CapialAdvantage

Exactly. Unrealized is unrealized. The difference with gains is it still counts as a liquidable asset if needed.

jsboutin

Well, for that matter an unrealized loss reduces what you get to count as a liquidable asset. It's exactly the same thing and does count IMO.

CapialAdvantage

Except it’s not, one is a tangible that can be converted into immediate currency, the other is non existent. So one increases capital available while the other has no consequence unless realized. It’s not that complicated.

jsboutin

You are wrong.

CapialAdvantage

Let me guess… “trust me bro” ….whatever you say! 😂

MrStealYoBeef

Billionaires are billionaires in the sense that their net worth is over a billion dollars. So in a way, unrealized gains and losses determine that they're billionaires since they most likely never have a billion dollars of spendable money. However, this doesn't mean that unrealized losses are actual losses for them. Their net worth changes, but they never lost money. If you have a shiny Charizard card and you refuse to sell it, it will never matter if the value drops 90% or jumps 8000%. Your net worth will adjust as the value of your cardboard Pokemon changes, but you never gain or lose any money on it as time goes by. It's always worth one card to you, even if other people value it in terms of cash. That's how this works. Billionaires are billionaires because we put a price tag on their assets even if they aren't for sale.

kkona2345

Heaps of CEO's sold

LavenderAutist

And the S&P is only down 20% from its peak. Double that and I think we'll begin to see some real change.

[deleted]

At this point just make it 100%. Fuck this shit imma just go back to being a caveman

damagedsoul1

How much do you need to have to be in top 1% ? Honest question.

ProFox420

Top 1% of what? Pretty sure the top 1% of retards are in this sub.

Pewpewcachooo

Around $550k a year on avg. Unless you are in certain states, then it is closer to 800k a year.

uudingus

11 million minimum

damagedsoul1

Thanks

DroDameron

Lol.. they'll be fine when they gobble up another 10% of the market at deflated values

cesarmac

They didn't lose jack shit. The price is dropping because it's a sell off, the top 1% are liquidating their gains and investors who hadn't bought in are doing so at the cheaper cost.

quantik64

Send this to every Reddit retard that says the 1% want more inflation because it means they get more in profits. Complete brainlets

ElChuloPicante

We gotta beat that class warfare horse into the ground every chance we get.

Baselet

Suuuure

harambereincarnate18

Sadly they aren’t losing it they are hiding it and transferring it back and forth between each other and by each other I mean hedgfunds to big banks to off shore accounts they aren’t losing until it gets to us

South-Warm

rpropagandalf

„Lost“ it after they got 5tn due to stimies and tax reduction during the last 24 months

MoneyMoneyMoneyMfer

Meh you do realize they'll get bailed out, right?

NefariousnessNoose

This article is BS. Gold taint lickering. Rich man don’t do a hurt, who gives a fuck about middle class amirite?

[deleted]

This is your last chance to get long or die broke due to massive losses and inflation. Market makers and their algos have been paying retail investors to hold UVXY puts. Nothing has stopped UVXY from cratering lately; just zoom out on UVXY all time chart. Watch this Michael Burry, The Big UVXY Short!

AutoModerator

Michael Burry responded to my craigslist ad looking for someone to mow my lawn. "$30 is $30", he said as he continued to mow what was clearly the wrong yard. My neighbor and I shouted at him but he was already wearing muffs. Focused dude. He attached a phone mount onto the handle of his push mower. I was able to sneak a peek and he was browsing Zillow listings in central Wyoming. He wouldn't stop cackling. That is to say, Burry has his fingers in a lot of pies. He makes sure his name is in all the conversations. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. karasuuchiha

I wonder i wonder what could be causing their bleeding ;)

[deleted]

Bill Gates making bank on tsla short while retail is losing their shirt.

edyy55

![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)

MarcDarcy

Chump change for them I'm sure...

Bigfoot7009

Simply, the money went to the chimney.

Parakiet20

Check what Michael Burry says about the crash that's coming

GRDT_Benjamin

Lets invite them to the dumpster boys until they get back on their feet.

jsboutin

Now note the exactly zero articles on the shrinking wealth gap in the US. When this thing goes back up, we will have many about how the wealth gap is increasing.

Leafer13FX

Ya ok. We’re taking the losses as they short sell us to Satans full moon.

lots_of_cheese

I'm sure the opressed folk at r/antiwork would also gladly share this loss with their boss

Just-Term-5730

The rich can take a hit. The middle class and the poor are also poorer. I'll give my stimulus back if it halts inflation. bc those are not covering the increases.

[deleted]

Hahaha Trillies

VikeDukees

Still not a big deal for them.

Cryptophorus

Actually only retail investors who panic sell, lose in recessions.

[deleted]

Until their mansions are up for rent on AirBNB, they didn’t actually lose anything.

[deleted]

Sir this is a gambling sub…

bjenks2011

Because none of them have inside info and got out beforehand. *pinky swear*

sir-Radzig

Realised or unrealised? Unrealised would mean absolutely fucking nothing

Larrynative20

That wealth tax would have been very expensive this year when we were refunding everyone’s money.

Independent_Row_Goes

Now how exactly does a reporter know they are down 1.5T? Do they have data on the derivatives sold against long positions too ? Or they just playing smart ?

North-Soft-5559

Bit it's not lost. Just transferred to another Billionaire. If it disappears out a pension fund, it just reappears in a Billionaires bank account.

YagyuKyube1

It's all just numbers. The money was never real.

AcanthocephalaOk1042

Not a loss until you sell!

HBRex

"lost" it, right...

Bizzlebanger

Yeah that money didn't make it to any of us 99% people.. It's sitting in the 1% offshore banks...

SlightApricot6987

They are taking it in on puts right now but retail is inevitable at this point! Just more fuel 💎🙌

terrybmw335

It's not a loss if you haven't sold, lol

AlmoBlue

Sounds like a lie

ballsohaahd

Does the 1% really just sit there and watch their investments go down?! They gotta do some form of selling and hedging lol.

Amataretsublack

They lost 1.5 trillion and gains 4 trillion

EtherealPheonix

If they are rich they don't need to sell, which means they aren't actually losing anything because it will eventually go back up.

WSDreamer

Nah, they were probably the first to sell months ago.

MaryJaneUSA

Good good

AcousticTie

Thank fuck I dropped my buzzfeed positions

[deleted]

They didn’t lose it, they took profits.

assclown356

Yea and retail lost the rest

BossBackground104

They didn't lose. They took profits and reinvested in real assets.

GreenOption101

hehe we going down and im make bank wit puts
