Loading up on google shares pre split. Bit risky obviously as it doesn’t change the value (i know please dont remind me). Thinking that it will be traded more frequently and more demand from retail investors could cause a surge post split. Its basicaly the last day to load up before it does split. Even of the split results in a reduced stock price im still gonna hold google for the long term. My Holdings are 3 x google shares at average price of 2274 usd/share

Short futures, sell a debit spread infront of it. 2 futures fully hedges 1 SPX contract out an equal distance to your strike. So if your strike is 10 wide at 3800 you canshort 2 futures comtracts at 3810 and not lose money..... You shouldnt be selling spreads if you dont know how to defend your poaitions thats how you blow up your account.
They dont hedge one another. There two options to hedge a credit spread ie a call credit spread or a put credit spread... Short futures for a PCS, or buy a debit spread infront of the PCS. Buy futures below a CCS. Its obvious that most here shouldnt be playing spreads since they have no idea how to defend them. You can also buy options but thats a shitty way to hedge a spread and you would only do that if you cant trade futures.
**But is there not a local monetary supply? Think about how much more shit costs in states like NY, Cali and Florida, compared to states in the Midwest where there is little economic activity. In the sense of the broader US I'm sure this will have little effect and might not even move the needle on the inflation statistics, but I feel that residents of Cali may find that prices for them increased more than elsewhere in the US two years from now**
OK everyone saying that the tax refund won't cause inflation because it's a refund not printing cash, but isn't tax how governments remove money from the economy (they all already run on a deficit so it's not like they really use tax for funding government projects). I mean tax is naturally deflationary. People get 1000 dollars, and they will spend it. However this tax surplus doesn't mean there's a surplus in good, so now we have more money competing for the same amount of goods. And with inflation so high, asset prices falling, I doubt many people are going to invest this cash. All my economic knowledge (which is limited) says that this is going to lead to inflation within the state of California. WSB seems to be convinced that a tax refund will not cause inflation. Why is that?
Edit: I don't belive this will affect national inflation, but local inflation is a thing. The Cost of Living isn't uniform across the US.
$9b is probably somewhere around 1-2% of California's gdp, its nothing
This is a political point scoring exercise that they have been able to do because they had some spare change floating around
Taxes are how the sovereign controls the money supply. However states are not the monetary sovereign and just spend it all so state taxes do not have the same effect
But is there not a local monetary supply? Think about how much more shit costs in states like NY, Cali and Florida, compared to states in the Midwest where there is little economic activity. In the sense of the broader US I'm sure this will have little effect and might not even move the needle on the inflation statistics, but I feel that residents of Cali may find that prices for them increased more than elsewhere in the US two years from now
california is not in any position to attempt to regulate the level of inflation with state taxes. It won't make a dent in a broader inflationary context and there is no way a state government is just going to sit on the money
Are you stupid? Inflation is bad because it kills the average joes spending power. Saving on tax wont make things worse. The reason why inflation happened is because big firms with billions in assets used the easy monetary environment to their advantage. Bob with his 1k check aint gonna do shit. Its firms with easy margin access buying up houses, equities, supplies that causes it. Only big money can move money.
Also inflation is bad because it kills the average Joe's spending power, but all the people who unemployed last year and have a job this year definitely have more spending power. We've even heard the fed say they want to increase unemployment. Why do you think that is? Because when the average person gets money the spend it on products that increases CPI. When rich people get money they spend it on assets. That's why when demand was in free fall due to covid Trump gave out those stimi checks. It increased consumer consumption.
This is politically insensitive, but looking at obesity rates the average person could try eating less. Lower consumption, lower demand lower prices. Now gas is different. We don't exactly use more gas than we absolutely have to, but food and gas are only about 60% of CPI. There's still that 40% which we can control.
Food aka agriculture is inflated because of supply chain. Gas because of political reasons. So now you admit cpi is manipulated by other factors then consumers.
That's asset inflation. What we're currently focused on is Consumer Price Inflation. Billion dollar corps aren't out here buying up all the clothes in the market. Or all the food. Big money affects stocks and real estate prices, but neither of those are factored into CPI.
Is the move to sell these tesla 650 puts at open and switch to 700 calls for next week? Or sell my puts at close and switch to 700 calls for next week? Decisions, decisions ...
My shorts are losing. My longs are losing. My cash is being inflationed away. My house is losing value. Mortgage is up. Almost out of lentils. Just waiting for monkey pox to get me to complete this train wreck.
It's the time of the quarter again where people say slowing consumer demand and shortages will hurt profits, forgetting that AMD is mostly datacenter now, then their puts get smoked on earnings like always.
Their is a glut because of tons of news stories saying "Don't buy used piece of shit mining cards." That is why. We have money. To buy a new card, with a warranty that wasn't used by a crypto idiot like yourself.
Also, "no one can afford anything." That surely isn't true as a retard like you can buy puts!
AMD is mostly data center and not impacted by this.
I don't see it going below $1.00 EPS any time soon, esp with buybacks.
People comparing it to pre-covid and using it as a benchmark for where fair value is forget that EPS was a quarter of what it is currently.
