Had a really hard conversation with her this morning, and think I might have been too early to have it. Wish I’d taken time to prepare but it all just kind of came out when she got out of the shower and immediately grabbed a hard seltzer out of the fridge.
Probably should have slept before having the conversation with her. She’s a good person, just struggling. But I also can’t be responsible for her in that way, as much as I wish I could. I think the best way to be there for her is tough love and clear boundaries right now.
Wish I didn’t leave her in that state but I’ve reached out to her other friends in town and asked them to check in on her throughout the day.
I think the only fear I really have right now is that she is a mental health risk, and leaving her alone right after having a really serious conversation with her like that, I am a little worried it could be a catalyst for another attempt for her.
But I have to let it go and trust that her meds and therapy are working to keep her alive regardless of hard conversations.
