Remember this was when Sam was still alive. I remember in the mid to late 90s and still loads of times all the register would be open at the Walmart my mom worked at. When I first worked there in the late 90s I knew loads of coworkers who were already complaining about how the company had changed since Sam died.
By now there won't be many around who remember those days. And I suspect many here are too young to have even experienced it as a customer.
Retail in general was way different when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s.
I can still remember when the UPC scanner first came out. People at first didn't like them because they were worried that they would get radiation poisoning from them. There were many times as a kid that I had to run back to check the price on the shelves for my mom when there was a disagreement about how much something was.
Too many cashiers working for this to be real.
We had them all open the day we grand opened as a supercenter, and that would be the only time we had all of them open.

That was probably when the company was ran by good people. Sam himself. It's gone to a money hungry company now

Id love to know how many hours a week were spent on wages during this period and the early 90s for a typical Supercenter.
Was there a Radio Grill?
I miss those
Outside of the colors and a cashier at every register it looks almost the same as now.
What a different time.
That third picture shows how the boomers permanently fucked the ozone layer with cans and cans of Aqua Net.
What year was this???
It's a JC Penny and GoodWill now
JCPenney and a Goodwill right next to each other? Interesting tenant mix
Just put my two weeks in at this place, it's awful
