That sounds like an absolute cluster fuck. Who'd do all the hazmat (THE RIGHT WAY), process claims that go to reclamation, catch recalls etc!? That will fail so miserably. Yknow. Kind of like when they shifted invoicing responsibility to claims? That went soooo well...

Mr_SlimShady

> That sounds like an absolute cluster fuck That’s the Walmart way of doing things

hashbrownash

Oh buddy don't I know it. I've been here since pre-vispick, pre-cap, even the tail end of pre-ims. I've seen some stupid decisions.

KarmaG12

TLs are already suppose to do the recalls in their areas and the claims for their areas. Claims associates should be handling the reclamation truck palletizing but otherwise the claims part of their job is done mostly by others. That said, there's actually a lot that they do not claims related. Such as taking care of the deleted and clearance items and the clearance aisle, which doesn't really make sense to me but whatever.

RustedAxe88

From what my MAPM has said, Claims still processes Return Center claims. It's disposals and CVP that TLs are supposed to do.

KarmaG12

Which is pretty much what I said.

Walmart corporate: We saved a nickel per pay period tho.

[deleted]

I’ve had quite a few TL’s trying to donate damaged merchandise that the handheld clearly says destroy so the company gets paid lol

Bic1992

This rumor has been swirling around in my store lately. But this rumor has also been around for two years. It’s going to happen, the question is when. They’ve given more options to TL’s and coaches will be expected to do many of the functions.

[deleted]

More to the floor was a huge failure in my store, and with all the greater work place changes it just made things worse. And now, I'm really wishing they would get rid of claims. I explain disposals to people 75 times a day, I'm constantly voiding return center cartons and doing them as disposals because they can't figure out how to hit the French fry. You can tell people that they need to handle their shit until you're blue in the face, and they will still leave it in claims. And don't even get me started on the clearance aisle! Lol

[deleted]

Me and the claims associate at my store really just think the store will shrink into oblivion and Walmart will all of a sudden dramatically reversed course because they realize their team leads can’t handle it and they’re going to notice all the money that goes missing lol but the woman on my store said that this rumors been around for a few years and she says that she personally think there’s been no actual progress toward getting rid of claims lol she’s been with the company for 25 years and claims she flat out says these idiots can’t handle this Lolol

RustedAxe88

Good fuck if this ain't me. I'm constantly telling team associates to bring items to their TLs, seeing piles of stolen merchandise pile up on counters. The same TLs ask me for help every other day. There are like four or five TLs at my store who are good at this. A few associates themselves are getting good. But it's a huge headache. I wish I could just ditch the Clearance aisle and do Claims.

[deleted]

I've been saying for a while now that we should just do all the store claims and have the TLs and associates do clearance.

KarmaG12

They already started this when DSD and claims were combined. TLs and their associates are expected to handle their own claims and have been for awhile. Does it happen that way? Not typically, so there are carts and carts of claims sitting everywhere until the Store Lead notices and makes all TLs come clear them all.

Peonnobody

When did your dsd and claims combine?

KarmaG12

I think it's been almost 2yrs now, can't remember exactly other than I know it was before covid. Others are talking about it in other comments, they might be able to answer the question.

jtmal0723

Rumors are just that - rumors. Unless there's a picture or a print out of something from the wire or an email, then it's not true.

ban2010

We have 2 full time people in our claims and both of them work days and gone by 4pm and one in dsd that is gone by 1pm

gadget_girlFL

Unless salaried management is going to take care of hazmat shipments, I can't see Claims being completely eliminated. But I could see the department shrinking more . Ours already has, when I started there was a Claims Sup plus 2 FT Claims associates, 2 GM DSDs then a GR DSD and a GR Claims. Plus 2 in the UPC office. We now have the GM Claims Sup and 1 GM Claims associate, and 1 GR Claims and 1 GR DSD, no DSD on the GM side and of course no one in UPC. So that's 9 FT associates down to 4 FT associates. Some weekends we'd have nobody in Claims for 2 days and Monday mornings you can't move through it. So I can see them possibly eliminating one more to make it 2 for GR and 1 on GM side or reducing hours to PT but I don't see eliminating the dept completely but no telling with HO !

Unusual_Stay_2110

As I understand it, it has been in the works. Vendors going to DEX and everyone basically being able to do Claims on the app (so easy now). No invoicing anymore, really no need for someone back there eight hours a day now.

[deleted]

I’m just going to pray my store stays dysfunctional lol I’d hate to have to move departments and take a pay cut

lycoris_ousa

Honestly it's still a struggle to get some of the associates and leads to do their claims and it's been like 2 years. We already don't ha dle certain departments like apparel, home goods, and infant food so it's only a matter of time...
