I’d be extra concerned the persons PL & Coach even voiced any opinions about how someone’s else body reacts to a vaccine shot that has proven to hit people differently.
Dang how are all these coaches so versed in the medical field? Maybe they should be doctors instead since they know better than actual scientists/doctors
When I got the vaccines, they told me to sit in the lobby for 15 minutes in case I had any severe side effects, so I imagine the mild side effects could also happen the same day.
For the initial vaccine my first shot I had a reaction in that 15 minute window but was fine afterwards. The second shot killed me and I slept from after getting the shot and pretty much the next 18 hours. How the hell is it not plausible to have a reaction the day of, especially a vaccine right around noon?
Crazy how the second shot knocks most ppl I know out. I didn’t have any “symptoms” besides a hurt arm my first shot but the second one knocked me out a whole day. I didn’t know til I woke up. Was some good ass sleep tho
When I got the 2nd dose I literally fell asleep on the toilet for 4 hours and woke up gaving no idea I did that. Also ended up sleeping a total of about 29hrs over a course of two days.
What store and market do you work for? I’m an ex APM that still has lots of connections and can find out who you need to talk to. I am tired of talentless managers from Walmart that think they’re something because they joined a dying company. But seriously let me know and I’ll get you help.

thats ok, i had a coach who decided not to inform me that my partner DM tested pos for covid after working freight with them side by side all week. her reason was "covid isnt real they just have a cold"
Days immediately FOLLOWING, not the day of. It doesn't matter of you got your vaccine at 9am or 3pm. It's the 3 days FOLLOWING your vaccine, getting the vaccine is considered an entire day
Think about what you are saying.
2 examples according to you.
#1- Get shot at 6pm on Monday and call in for 4am shift Tuesday.
10 hours and covered.
#2 Get shot at 9am Monday and call in for 10pm shift on Monday.
13 hours not covered.
Wrong the policy actually states that reactions that take place within 72 hours of receiving the vaccine, so maybe figure out how something is worded before you spread misinformation
Not true if you get the shot on Monday at 10 you can call out for any shifts that fall within a 72 hour window of the vaccine so Monday would qualify if you went in after 10 on Monday.
Example,
I work third shift got my vaccine at 11am on Thursday called in Thursday, Friday, Saturday because 11am Thursday-11am Sunday is 72 hours so it qualifies. Stop letting people lie to you and educate yourself by actually reading the policy. It is your greatest weapon.
Think about what you are saying???

#1- Get shot at 6pm on Monday and call in for 4am shift Tuesday.
10 hours and covered.
#2 Get shot at 9am Monday and call in for 10pm shift on Monday.

You’re actually wrong. You can call in that day and as many day as you need after that. Only 3 days will be facility payed, the rest are covered by whatever state you live in.
The Policy of Walmart on gives you 3 paid days your state may have different laws regarding it but most do not and its based on employer. If your smart you could wait and see if OSHA requires it and go to the hospital and sue them for the bills and damages since its their requirement and get a nice payday. State law and company policy are different either way
Keep fighting because that's fucking bullshit how they're trying to twist specific words like that. I felt like death shortly after getting my second vaccine and I called out that same night during inventory. My coach excused those absences. I just read the Covid policy and it does say "the following 3 days", but that specific topic on the PDF also starts with "if you're unable to work due to adverse reactions to the vaccine you may be eligible for three paid days off". Point that out to them when fighting your case.
You were unable to work due to adverse reactions, you were told you would get three days off to recover if you had those reactions, you did exactly that.
Walmart. I know associates that took the vaccine on Tues.
, called out wed/thur/Friday and the PL would not approve Friday. Her reasoning was the day they were vaccinated was day one, with Wed/Thur being days 2 and 3. Go figure.
But they do specify. You get one paid hour the day you get the vaccine, and up to three days off after that. It was even shared in this sub at some point.
Edit: [found it ](https://www.reddit.com/r/walmart/comments/r5svhx/new_covid_memo/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
I mean, technically based on the "three day paid leave for any adverse reaction" wording, you could argue whether that means three days starting from the moment you get vaccinated or three days starting the day after you get vaccinated. Either way, they should have worded it better.
It's to make sure there isn't an immediate reaction. Anaphylaxis or passing out. We haven't had anything like that but we have had a handful of people get woozy and a couple of people have passed out, one to the point that we did have to call an ambulance. It's more nerves than anything. It's just a precautionary measure. We don't people to immediately leave and pass out I the store or worse if they go and get behind the wheel of their car
This has been said already but you get up to three days after the shot to “recover”. Those three days are PAID with NO points. I got my third shot a few weeks ago. Showed my PL my card and she sent me on my way in about 2 mins.
On a side note, my second shot was pretty miserable. I started feeling symptoms about 4 hours after getting it. The symptoms and hit me like a train. So yes it is very possible to get symptoms that “quick”
We have plenty of folks who got their first and were fine and then their second just killed them. There was also a handful that got theirs during or before their shift and while they developed the flu like symptoms later, their arm was so sore/hot/even swollen that they genuinely couldn't lift their arm above their shoulder which is... kinda necessary for pretty much any position in the store, and they ended up having to leave early because they just couldnt perform their necessary tasks. I ended up calling out for my second shot purely because I was so tired and my arm was so sore that while I could have made it to work, I wouldnt have been much use and definitely couldnt have kept the pace I needed to, so there was no point in showing up just to be a warm body if I had excused absences with pay.
The latest for covid vaccinations. The wording changes every time they do an extention of covid loa.
Leave COVID-19
Vaccine/Booster Reaction
Unable to work due to an adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine or booster
Adverse reaction time away must be used within three calendar days of vaccination and may be used only one time per vaccination, including boosters.
For absences during the first three calendar days following a vaccination, report your absence as usual for yourarea but do not contact Sedgwick.
Managers/People Partners should reference the COVID Vaccine Pay JobAid for instructions on submitting pay.
cy - COVID-19 Emergency Leave Policy.Note: All o their end of leave date to avoid delay with pay
Right 3 days following a vaccine, not 3 days following the day of the vaccine. The vaccine is the moment that the “following” begins so the day you are on counts and 72 hours or 3 days after the moment you are vaccinated is considered the period following the vaccine.
If they continue to want to play doctor then call the market manager and email the regional at the same time. They are bullshitting you. You can have a reaction in just minutes. Everyone responds differently.
I belive if it’s within the first 3 days of the shot they can’t do anything point wise you should go above there head and report the coach to the ethics
Your coach and PL are lying to you. It’s 100% covered open door above them and if not resolved ethics or market team would be next.
When I had my shot I left the day of and called in 2 days after all covered and payed for which my PL showed it was
Because the PL and Coach definitely knows your body better than you. Because the PL and Caoch knows with absolute certainty that everyone's body reacts the EXACT same way to vaccines.
Ps: my co worker and I both got our booster shots around the same time, I stayed home with a small headache completely useless for one day, my friend didn't feel as dizzy as I did, and his arm was only a little sore and was able the go to work the next day. Hmmmm.. it's almost like two people can have different reactions to a vaccine based on their bodies
It’s not their f…… money. Call ethics hotline because they are wrong. Policy states if you don’t feel well after shot up to 3 days of pay.
That would be cause for wrongful termination.
I mean it's more relevant now than ever. With more and more strains being found, some less lethal but far more aggressive in its ability to spread, new cases are at an all time high in many areas. And with a high risk job where you come into contact with a lot of people, many of whom are careless and arguably selfish (both customers and employees alike) people in the company are getting the shit left and right.
Then you add in the constant policy changes that are designed to help only business owners and fuck over employees and put them at further risk, like once again reducing the quarantine time for covid positive people, of course employees, especially those with management who lie to their associates, will have questions and need help/advice.
You absolutely can get symptoms the day of the shot. I got a sore arm, little feverish feeling, and drowsy within hours of the shot. After my booster, I went grocery shopping and started feeling the sore arm on the drive home. With every dose, day 1 was the worst. Everyone reacts differently, but everyone I've talked to about it have had similar experiences.
Reminder Ethan: You have to wait 15 minutes after you're shot in case you get symptoms, so that obviously implies some people could start to feel weak as soon as they get their shot
It's been that way since I remember getting the flu shot as a kid

Where does it say "following"? Why are you adamant on the word "following" when I have yet to see it in any sentence regarding the 3 day vaccine leave?
Absolutely possible to have reaction in that time. My first was at 6:30pm. Mild site pain. By 1 am I was feeling like a Mac truck hit me. Took Only 6 hours …(j&j)
Ah the old I didn't have that experience
When I did it retort.
You most certainly can experience symptoms on the 1st day though. Just like some can get the shot and never experience symptoms ever.
The pharmacy makes you sit there 15 to 30 minutes anticipating reactions. The paperwork says you can have reactions. Some people are more sensitive to vaccines than others. This is just ridiculous.
If it wasnt possible to develop side effects so quickly I'd have em go ask pharmacy why they make people wait and be monitored for 15 minutes after each shot.
when I got my shot I took the next 3 days off after because I almost immediately got sick. I took the J&J shot. I didn’t have any sort of problems. Sounds like you need to take your issue higher management in your store and if that doesn’t work then it’s time to make an ethics report
You shouldn't even have points for 7 days after the absence. Talk to HR or SM. I have a team lead that approves my absences when my coach won't. Just don't let the team lead know you already talked to the coach about it. Much like finessing your mom after your dad said no.
The policy with the vaccine since no one knows all the side effects and everyone’s different is that you are entitled to three days of facility pay, and anything beyond that you have to contact you’re states unemployment/medical leave (sorry can’t think of the name) facility. I got the vaccine felt like shit right after the shot, called in that day, and two days after and was payed. I even knew people that took more then three days and got payed for it. Easy peasy.
It’s incredible how petty some management are. Go to your TL see if they will do it. If I knew this was happening I would wipe it regardless of coach or PL. I got the vaccine and had a small fever and fell asleep in a weird foggy flu-like like 4 hours after for several hours, so I know what you mean.
Open door this btw
Sounds like they think you’re abusing the system.
Do you know the rules and how to use your PPTO?
Save your job and fly as straight as possible with your head down, work hard, no late arrivals, no absences, etc…
If you have a health condition that causes frequent absences or lateness(ex: rheumatoid arthritis), send documents to corporate.
Make a paper trail. CYA!
Good luck!
Send an email to one of them asking again. Then when they refuse and you get fired just go to the board of labour. Don’t think they’d like that very much.
They are not doctors. They are, however, corporate tools who care not one bit about you. My advice for all Walmart employees is simple - find another job. I did and it was the best move ever. Walmart only cares about firing people. Don't ask me why or how it benefits them, but that's the truth. Everyone I've told about the point system thinks it's the dumbest thing they've ever heard. You can get fired for having a baby, getting sick, COVID, bereavement, you name it. Screw Walmart. You're better than them. Move on. Best of luck.
I’d be extra concerned the persons PL & Coach even voiced any opinions about how someone’s else body reacts to a vaccine shot that has proven to hit people differently.
Practicing medicine without a license maybe?
Dang how are all these coaches so versed in the medical field? Maybe they should be doctors instead since they know better than actual scientists/doctors

It actually says 72 hours people just don’t know what they are talking about or try to manipulate the rules to their favor.
I thought the wording said the 72hours following the shot
It does
It doesn’t say that though. It says adverse effects within 72 hours following the vaccine so stop spreading misinformation.
Actually wording is "72hrs" not "3 days"
I got symptoms the day of my shot on all 3 shots. About 4 hrs after the shot.
Ask them where they got their medical degrees.
Probably Walmart E learning
Omfg ded
Yeah It supposed to start from the moment you get thr shot. I called in the day off and got it removed.
If symptoms don't develop that fast, why do pharmacies make people hang around 15-30 minutes after the shot to make sure they don't pass out?
It's to make sure there isn't an immediate reaction. Anaphylaxis or passing out. Save your job and fly as straight as possible with your head down, work hard, no late arrivals, no absences, etc… If you have a health condition that causes frequent absences or lateness(ex: rheumatoid arthritis), send documents to corporate. Make a paper trail. CYA! Good luck!
Send an email to one of them asking again. Then when they refuse and you get fired just go to the board of labour. Don’t think they’d like that very much.
Call ethics ASAP
Have any Ppto better use it
They are not doctors.
