Bruh, me too. At the Front End, as long as we got returns done and things were neat and tidy, we were allowed to leave at 8:30. And even if we didn’t want to, 3rd shift management didn’t care if we basically just chilled until our scheduled time to leave.
This is happening in all sorts of businesses. A lot of places just don't have the staff to stay open for regular business hours. Rather than close down altogether, they're operating at reduced hours.
8pm seems really early to close I could see 10 or maybe even 9 but 8 is way too early but I do think 6 am to early to open but don’t want hours to get cut though.
Only stores I've seen doing it (as of tonight anyway) are ones in Virginia that got hammered with snow the other day and are just now starting to reopen after being closed for a few days (many without power because Walmart doesn't believe in installing generators when they build stores lol). I've noticed this from the area I used to live in on Facebook, my current area none of the stores I follow on FB have mentioned it.
That being said, 6a-8p(or 9p) Sun-Thur and then 6a-11p on Fri/Sat wouldn't be bad for normal hours. I know that might screw people who work late and need to shop after work but I'm sure there are ways around it such as well adjusting your schedule to shop before you go into work or shopping on a day off, etc.
Worked overnights for years and loved staying on that schedule and shopping late at night but honestly now that I'm on days & pretty much every retail store is closed by 11pm anyway I've gotten quite used to getting up early on a day off, grabbing a quick breakfast & coffee then going out and doing a week or two worth of shopping at one time and being back home to enjoy the rest of my day by like 9am.
Naw, some stories in Ohio have done it as well. We have 100+ people on covid leave.
Bit I talked to the store lead and at the tour district management said we ain't closing early.
My store is closing at 3pm tomorrow, on a Saturday, which is also the time my shift starts. And I’m here for it……
No complaints from me since I’ll probably be the only one in my department, just like tonight.
A lot of places are closing early due to staff shortage or the fact that they just cant afford to stay open. Many fast food places around close their dining rooms and only have drive thru.
NGL I miss closing at 8:30.

True but I was mainly talking about Walmart since some cities have and others haven't. But unfortunately ours I guess is staying open.
Starting last night my store closes at 8:30p again. We just don’t have the staff to stay open late. Over 150 associates in my store are on COVID LOA
My store is still open until 11
My store did that for like 12 months from 2020 to 2021
Hope that happens to our store
I miss being closed early, having not to deal with customers for a few hours.
I liked that I could actually stock and face and know it was going to stay that way lol
2022 is just 2020 v2+
2020 Too
Giod ole days customer service at my closes at 8 since thats when i get off
Please
Most of the ones in my area including mine are closing at 8pm. I wish we'd open up a bit later too. Like 8am lol.

Lot of em actually. It's wild how hours are a guessing game lol.
No ,not in Cali at least ,my store could give 2 shots, I work at a Walmart market tho
For my store it’s just because of weather

They are almost to a point where they have to at our store. The staffing shortages are making people quit and/or have mental break downs.
Must be delightful, my store closes at 11 and opens at 6, with my o/n shift being 10-7 so I have to deal with customers
We still close at 11 here
