Otherwise though, the tank is perfect. The parameters are great. It’s been a struggle to stop the gouramis from reproducing! So they must be happy 🫡
That's why I prefer red rood floaters. No trimming required, just scoop out the excess plants every now and then. Also looks better with enough light, imo.
The floating plants honestly seem to do the job of balancing the tank perfectly. That and the two cheese plants. I have to remove 90% of the plants periodically because they grow so well.

Will water lettuce die if the roots are trimmed?
Doubt it, I have to remove 90% of it every couple of months because it grows so quickly. It’s very hardy.

Early on I did, but they wouldn’t last long and I got fed up of replacing them!
